So it’s been a solid 24 hours since two of Boston’s finest tragically perished in the fire on Beacon Street. It should be one of those stories that brings all of us together, right? Right???
Well some people just can’t let a good tragedy go without stirring up some controversy. Their ire has been drawn towards two main people/groups: 1) The Media, 2) Tom Brady.
Apparently Brady lives next door to the fire and wandered outside to see WTFIGO. Since he’s Tom Brady, people obviously took pictures of him. If you haven’t seen the picture that’s getting everyone all hot and bothered, here it is:
First of all, kind of freaky how the firefighter looks like Belichick after an Ed Reed interception. But what has really gotten some people bent out of shape is their perceived belief that the media is focusing on Tom Brady:
Apparently we have to agree with this guy, because he’s a career firefighter. Or at least he says he is. Newsflash Mike: you don’t speak for all firefighters. You didn’t go into firefighting on ESPN.com to make millions. And honestly, why do you care who makes what for money right now if you’re a grieving firefighter? This guy has obnoxious Seahawks fan written all over him.
Mike wasn’t alone though…
How much you wanna bet this guy is a Jets fan? I’d the odds at 1 to 2. Steve Santora brings up a good point though – no one gives a bleep about the firefighters who gave their lives. Does Steve have a point? Well, I can’t say that I even know this happened until I saw Steve’s Facebook post. Sure thing Steve.
Luckily Carol came through to restore sanity to the universe.
Carol is pissed. “Hey Brady, who the fuck do you think you are? Just gonna stand there? Not gonna run into the building and save the litter of kittens that some old lady left behind? And you think you’re better than Peyton Manning?” Carol Silver sees RIGHT through your tricks Tom.
Luckily solemn events like this are policed by people who are self appointed vigilantes of political correctness.
Thank God Dorothy chimed in. Without that I was afraid Cristal’s comment would go unpunished for not mentioning BOSTN STRONG!!! Even though you’re dead right about that observation Cristal, you still can’t say that. Not when Dorothy Griffin is on duty.
Then there was stuff like this on the Patriots Facebook page…
Yea, why would the PATRIOTS put up a picture of the greatest player in Patriots history watching the fire that’s right next to his home?
ESPN.com got people’s wrath too….
Yea ESPN, why are you talking about this sports athlete ESPN? Shouldn’t you be investigating what time LeBron James took a King-sized DUMP today? If there’s one thing Steve Kurtz knows about it’s integrity. That’s why it clearly says that he’s a Promotion Producer at a news station. And we all know the News doesn’t sensationalize. Ever.
Other people used this as a time to lash out on politicians, like their city councillors.
Yea Councilor Zakim. Keep your mouth shut with your condolences. Who do you think you are? Tom Brady?
Some people are even mad at Brady himself for not doing anything.
Yea Tom. Why are you staring at that giant fire next door to your house? Shouldn’t you be out shopping for uggs somewhere? Is this the new spygate? It’s all your fault for taking the first responders away from the fire and towards crowd management. I mean, look at that picture – there’s firemen everywhere holding you back from throngs of junior smokeshow coeds from Northeastern. If only they could’ve focused on the fire like Jake said.
A lot of people are angry that the Herald and other media outlets showed pictures from the fire scene:
Yea newspaper. Stop reporting and showing the news.
Do these people realize what news is? News is anything people will read. That’s it. You know which of my blogs get the most traffic? Anything where I talk about f***ed up people. The Lunenburg Mom who grafitid her own home with racial epithets directed at her biracial son. Anything involving St. Bonaventure fans. Anything involving the hot Special Ed teacher who was posing in soft core pornography. Anything in that realm is a big hit. You know what doesn’t get page views? Blogs about sports (unless it involves making fun of St. Bonaventure fans).
Apparently these people don’t get that Americans are gawkers by nature. We see a car accident and we slow down and look. They literally need to hold us back with police tape at crimes. We just can’t help ourselves. It doesn’t make us bad, it just makes us curious.
I think it’s safe to say that the biggest turd of the night goes to Brent Skeen though.
Based on Brent Skeen’s photo:
I would’ve guessed that he wants to get to the bottom of a meaningless detail reported slightly differently by two media outlets. I simply could not rest until this matter was solved. Thank you Brent Skeen. I’m not saying that this guy is a dooshnozzle, because in 2014 that constitutes bullying. But if YOU think this guy comes across kind of dooshy, then this picture from his Facebook should explain why:
So a guy in a Joe Flacco jersey was outraged that Tom Brady watched his neighbors has burn down? Shocking.
