Everyone has been wondering who would be the first mainstream media outlet to steal our story on pot dealing, tax evading, money laundering, perjuring snitch State Trooper Leigha Genduso. And the answer is………
— Boston Herald (@bostonherald) February 22, 2018
The failing Boston Herald!! That was a longshot actually. Obviously Fox 25 News was the favorite, followed closely by the Turtlegram and Gazette, Boston Globe, and WCVB. And if you think our site is filled with ads that slow it down your Internet and give you a popsicle headache, try clicking on a Boston Herald link. It’s wicked fun!
And yet the Herald still managed to massively fuck up the story:
A state trooper has been placed on administrative leave and is now the subject of an internal investigation, the agency confirmed yesterday. Trooper Leigha Genduso was placed on paid administrative leave Monday, according to state police spokesman David Procopio. Genduso earned $151,000 last year, records show. She will face a departmental duty status hearing in the next few days, he added. State police have also launched an Internal Affairs investigation and its conclusions will determine what further action, if any, will be taken against Genduso, Procopio said.
This might be the worst reporting we’ve ever seen. Not only did they “report” a story we did three days ago, they couldn’t even conduct the most basic amount of research to figure out why she was put on leave. Ya know, the most important and juiciest part of the story. Because it’s not every day you find out that a state trooper on the K-9 unit once sold kilos of pot, laundered $275K to rapey lawyers and friends, evaded taxes, and admitted to committing perjury.
Oh, and it took not one, but two reporters to write up this story.
Laurel Sweet calls herself an “award winning” Boston Herald hell on wheels reporter.” This is how pathetic and sad the state of modern journalism is. You can win awards by being this bad at your job. Because somehow everyone else is worse.
And where has former Herald”investigative” columnist Howie Carr been?
Howie does a four hour show every day. Not once has he mentioned this. It would be great if a turtle rider called into his show today between 3-7 and called him out on it.
Seriously, there’s no excuse for being this terrible. Not only could they just have stolen the story from us like they always do, but all the information is publicly available. We printed a 109 page transcript of Trooper Genduso’s testimony in Sean Bucci’s 2007 trial. She admits to everything. It’s all right there.
This is why the Boston Herald is a dying newspaper. At one point they were a viable alternative for truth seekers who were fed up with the Boston Globe’s one sided, agenda driven reporting. Now they’re just a pathetic relic of the past with a shitty website and a horrible ad network. You would think that in order to survive they would want to reestablish themselves as the investigative journalism alternative to the Globe. But apparently they’d rather do the same things that have led them to massive layoffs and financial destruction. Sad.
If you want a good laugh, head on over to their Facebook page and look at the commentary under their “story”:
Turtle, turtle, turtle!!
It’s just so embarrassing. Do they have any idea how they look? Doesn’t someone monitor their social media comments and think to themselves, “gee, this isn’t the best look for us”? Sure, we’d like it if they credited us, but it’s almost better watching the backlash when they don’t. Now every media outlet will cover this story within the next 24 hours, and every single one of them will cite and link the Boston Herald as their source. Then it will make national news outlets like Fox News ad the Herald will once again get cited. This is why citing sources is important. Because it gives us a chance to reach new people. We did all the work after all. Were it not for us none of this would be happening.
P.S. Sean Bucci was on Geraldo River in 2006 talking about his website, “whosarat.com” that his ex-girlfriend came up with the name for right before she became a rat herself and sent him to jail.
