Any kid who cuts class to “protest” Donald Trump’s election should be suspended and treated like any other juvenile delinquent.

Boston Herald: Hundreds of Boston Public Schools students are planning to walk out of classes Monday in protest of President-elect Donald Trump’s “inexcusable statements” and “harmful policies,” with the end goal of building a “student-led resistance against the Trump administration,” organizers said. Students behind the Boston Student Walk-Out Against Trump say they plan to ditch classes at 1 p.m., rally at the Boston Common by 2 p.m., visit Gov. Charlie Baker in the State House at 3 p.m., and finish with a stop at City Hall to speak with Mayor Martin J. Walsh at 4 p.m. More than 540 people have indicated, as of last night, on Facebook they plan to participate in the walkout.
So……do they have an appointment? Or are they just kind of barging in? I certainly hope they’re barging in, because if Mayor Walsh or Governor Baker agreed to meet with these kids right after they all cut class, then they should instantly be recalled.
In a statement posted to Facebook, organizers said they accept that Trump will be the next president and added, “We have the right to protest and stand together against the inexcusable statements he has made about, and the harmful policies he promises to enact against immigrants, Muslims, black Americans, the disabled, the LGBTQ+ community and women.” The walkout aims to “send a loud and clear message to Donald J. Trump and to ensure our local elected officials commit to protecting and uplifting all residents of Massachusetts for the next four years,” the statement said.
Oh man, wait until President-Elect Trump hears about this!! He’s gonna lose his mind!! A couple hundred kids in Boston skipping school because they’re mad that people who can actually vote and pay taxes didn’t choose the candidate that they wanted. THAT will show Trump who’s boss!!
I’d love to ask these junior snowflakes in training exactly what statements President-Elect Trump said about “blacks” and the “LGBTQ community.” Because I’m pretty sure President-Elect Trump is about to be the most gay friendly President in American history.
Oh yea, and for what it’s worth, Trump is the President BECAUSE of black people. The same percentage of white and Latino voters cast their ballot for Romney as they did for Trump. But while only 3% of black people voted for Romney in 2012, over 9% of black people voted for Trump in 2016. Black people made Trump the President, not white people.
Oh good, comic sans. Now they’ll definitely take you seriously.
Williams said organizers want “city officials to advise our workforces and police department to refrain from Trump’s proposed mass deportation and to uphold Roe V. Wade along with other things.”
Wait….what? Roe vs. Wade? Now they’re just looking for excuses to skip class. Question – if a bunch of pro-life students decided to walk out of class and demand that Obama change his stance on this controversial issue, would everyone be praising them for their civic engagement? Didn’t think so.
Boston Public Schools responded to news of the walkout with an automated call to students and staff warning that students missing class time will be marked absent.
“It has come to our attention that students are planning a potential walkout for Monday, Dec. 5, at 1:00 p.m,” BPS said in the phone message. “BPS believes in the importance of student voice and advocacy. However, we strongly discourage students from missing class time. Students who miss class time will be marked absent for their missed classes. Families will receive an automated phone call that informs them of these absences.”
So….are you gonna punish them or not? Because any kid who attends this “protest” should be treated just like any other kid cutting class to smoke weed on the bleachers. Just because you’re leaving school to participate in a “protest” of an election that happened a month ago, doesn’t mean you’re not a truant.
Williams said the warning calls were expected, adding, “If anything, we’re happy that they’ve voiced support of student voice and didn’t directly support aggressive disciplinary action.”
See that? The kids see the same shit we did. You gotta lay the hammer down and let them know what the consequences are, because clearly they don’t think you’re gonna do shit:
Luckily the students are welcoming anyone who wishes to join them:
LOL. Just kidding. You have to have to have the same opinions they do if you wanna be able to skip school with them.
My favorite part was reading all the brilliant commentary from the Boston Herald’s finest, who clearly can’t read and didn’t see that the teachers and administrators have nothing to do with this “protest”:
Love it. These people are so dumb, it’s great. Like sheep they’ve been led to believe that teachers are two steps down from ISIS. And teacher’s union shouldn’t exist because we should be able to fire teachers at the whim of Facebook commenters. Yup, that sounds reasonable!!!
Loved this one too:
Wait…..you can pass the SAT’s? What’s the passing grade? Oh right, there’s no such thing as passing or failing the SAT’s. This person is obviously wicked smart.
Anyway, how is this still a thing? It’s been a month now since the election. It’s over. We gave you a grace period for protests. You had a couple days to throw a tantrum, cry, hug some teddy bears, talk about your feelings, and cry in state-sponsored group therapy. Games over now. Trump is president. And contrary to the popular hashtag, he is indeed your president too.
You can either keep whining about it or come to terms with it and move on with your life. Either way, any kid that participates in this on Monday should instantly be suspended because your “protest” is really just a shitty excuse to skip school.
