The other day we shared this story with turtle riders about a tequila themed party at Bowdoin College that had social justice warriors up in arms because they were wearing mini sombreros:

bowdoin tequilapartyon

Madness!!!

We pointed out how dumb these morons had to be to actually take offense to this harmless party. The argument is that the students are “mocking” Mexican culture by doing this. Which makes TONS of sense. I guess that means my parents are racist too. After all, they let me wack a piñata at my 9th birthday party. Then there was that time when I was in college and I got drunk on Cinco de Mayo, even though I am American. Oh yea, and last week I ate at Mezcal – a Mexican restaurant owned and operated by white people. Microaggressions like you read about!!

Since then, many of the more vocal students at Bowdoin have read Turtleboy and voiced their disgust. Here is an op-ed written in their student newspaper by a guy named Carlos Holguin, about Turtleboy and Barstool Sports coverage of this hilarious non-story:

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 1.54.22 PM Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 1.54.33 PM

Xenophobic, sexist, and racist? Never been called those things before. Awesome evidence to back it up though. LOL. I feel like if buttnuts like these aren’t calling you names then you’re doing something wrong. But just for the record Turtleboy Sports is a feminist family blog. Over half of our readers are female, the largest demographics being women between the ages of 35-44, and 25-34:

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 1.57.16 PM

Stupid facts!!!

Basically the kid spends the rest of the article whining about how hard it was for him to read about some white people wearing sombreros and getting drunk at a party:

By saying we are the issue, you are putting the blame on us minorities. There is just one problem with this sort of thinking: we are not the ones who perpetrated this incident. We are the recipients of acts of this nature, which, I would add, are unprovoked by us minority students. Instead, let’s put the blame where it really lies. It lies with the students who decide to appropriate and mock my culture. I’m not saying I’m blaming those who went to the party, I’m not. I’m blaming those who did not use the foresight before donning the attire they did, and laughing at people they don’t understand.

First of all “Carlos” you can call yourself Latino all you want, but this is the face of a gringo:

10984569_1570614389887958_8630601465989564628_n

Secondly, you are the ones who perpetrated this “incident.” You took something that was utterly harmless and turned it into a huge thing. Stop pretending like you didn’t have a choice in the matter. You could’ve just ignored it and gone about your day, but instead you decided to arbitrate how other students are allowed and not allowed to get drunk on the weekends. If you were truly offended by this, then I would suggest that you grow thicker skin, because the real world is a lot more cruel than a bunch of coeds in sombreros.

Thirdly, no one is “mocking” your culture, or “laughing at people they don’t understand.” Are you really that dumb? Or are you just trying to score some SJW points? Do you really think that these kids were putting on sombreros and laughing at each other while saying, “Mexicans are so comical”?

Here’s another “op-ed” from the student newspaper, written by a girl named Phoebe Kranefuss, who is clearly riddled with a bad case of white guilt:

To the students of the College who doubt the validity and legitimacy of the emotional responses on campus to the recent events of racial bias: Maybe you’ve grown up hearing “yes.” You’ve been told “yes” all your life. Yes to elite Manhattan preschool; yes to firing the babysitter you hate; yes to a weekend in the Hamptons; yes to that spring break trip in Cabo; yes, yes, yes. Perhaps you’ve grown accustomed to hearing that word in response to your requests. You’ve grown accustomed—through no fault of your own—to expecting your demands to be met with a resounding, authority-uttered, definitive “yes.”

So perhaps, you doubters, when you were told you couldn’t wear a sombrero to a party, it was the very first time you’ve heard “no.” And perhaps that was hard. Perhaps you felt threatened, and perhaps you’re scared of the sidewalk not remaining wide and white for your future child. We as white people can’t understand exactly what it means to be told “no” so often, and we must recognize the limitation in our ability to empathize with the students of color who are so profoundly hurt right now. But we need to try.

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 2.47.22 PM

Oh sweet Jesus. Hey Phoebe, I understand you’re a filthy rich girl from California with the whitest possible name ever, but not all of us white folks go to Manhattan prep schools and spend weekends in the Hamptons. We understand that you probably do, which is fine. Some people are rich and others aren’t. We also get that you’ve probably never been told “no” your whole life, but most white people have, and now we say it all the time to our loud mouthed kids like Turtleboy Jr.

Secondly, I’m not sure what country you’re living in, but here in America you don’t have the right to tell other students “no” if they want to wear sombreros to a party. I know this is a difficult concept for you to understand, but in a free country one person does not have the right to tell another person they can’t wear a sombrero at a party.

079f2863-7fc7-4ed5-8736-67a1cbea0281

I know that you’re writing this because you’re desperately seeking the approval of your wackjob professors and the dozen or students at Bowdoin who are students of color. But no one is impressed. You really just look like an idiot. It’s embarrassing and someday you will very likely wish it could be erased from the Internet.

One of the students we wrote about in our original article, who started this whole sombrero shit show, was Michelle Kruk:

11426254_10207317772689080_2353249899801620849_n

She was not pleased when she read Turtleboy the other day and found herself as one of the primary antagonists:

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/704437599633592320

Yes Michelle, this is what happens when you speak out foolishly. Other people share differing opinions that are critical of the ridiculous things you are saying. It’s fucked up, I know. But it’s the price you have to pay to live in a free country. If you don’t wanna be called out for saying stupid things, you should probably stop saying stupid things then.

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705640216564862976

First of all, you didn’t get any hate mail. If you did then you would’ve shared it like it was World War 3. Secondly, even if you did get hate mail, so what? So some people hate you. Get over it. Welcome to reality. We have thousands of people who hate the things we write and tell us about it all the time. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t make their words hateful or bigoted. It just means that we live in a country where people can agree to disagree.

She’s also pretty upset that the Washington Post published this op-ed which was very critical of the students fascist-like behavior:

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705640525156610052

Newsflash – if the Washington Post doesn’t have your back, then you’re doing liberalism the wrong way. Because it doesn’t get much more left wing than the Washington Post. And if one of their columnists thinks you’re going too far, then you’re probably going way too far. Ya see, liberals generally have a problem with things like the Washington Redskins, because they believe it’s a racist term. And you can agree or disagree with them, but they have a point either way. But you guys and your beef with sombreros? You have no point. You’re confused about what liberalism is and you’re embarrassing yourselves for the world to see.

To make matters worse, one of her professors, Doris Santoro, started feeding into her PC butthurt:

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/704657190574014464

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/704483349449023488

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/704665807276654594

Oh God. Ya see that? That’s the problem right there. Instead of telling this girl to get over it and move on with her life, she’s feeding into her victimization. She literally offered her a safe space where she could go to hide from the Internet shitstorm that she brought upon herself. Not surprisingly if you look through Doris Santoro’s Twitter, you’ll see that she’s just another Professor Missy Click from Missouri. She organized the student protests on campus in solidarity with Mizzou, as well as the Ferguson protests that occurred the year before. Students who whine about safe spaces are a huge problem, but the ADULTS who feed into this fascist fantasy world where they can be protected from differing opinions, are an even bigger problem.

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 4.00.05 PM

That’s when Doris started telling her to run to the press to see if anyone would side with the students:

So poor Michelle gave it a shot:

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705767458582499329

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705767694268764160

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705611744132124672

https://twitter.com/kraykruk/status/705784088184143872

Newslfash Michelle – if you can’t get DeRay McKesson to get your back, then you’re probably not fighting for a cause that anyone has any interest in. She hasn’t gotten a single reply back from any of these radical left wing social justice warriors, because even they think she’s being ridiculous. Please Michelle, for your sake, take a hint.

Meanwhile, here’s an op-ed from a student who wrote an email to Barstool Sports about this non-incident. He’s a white guy from Southboro who identifies as a Republican named Richard Arms. He pitches and plays football for Bowdoin and he’s your average bro-tastic Stoolie.

17418_10203719597299562_6771517945941951648_n

In his op-ed he explains why he and countless other students didn’t publicly speak out about this – because they know they will be called bigots and racists, even though they’re not. Welcome to Turtleboy’s world. This is basically why this blog exists. Because we tell the truth and bullies masquerading as social justice warriors try to silence us by using fear and intimidation.

And that part about the alumni calling up the school and threatening to stop donating money – guess why they’re doing that? Because the response from the school has been INSANE!!! Two of the students who were at the party are being “impeached” for doing absolutely nothing wrong:

Members of Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) will introduce articles of impeachment against Representative at Large Duncan Cannon ’18 and Representative of the Class of 2018 Clare McInerney ’18, according to the agenda for tonight’s BSG meeting.

Cannon and McInerney are held under articles of impeachment for alleged violation of the spirit of the statement of solidarity issued by BSG in October, violating the nondiscrimination policy of BSG and for “injurious actions towards other members of the General Assembly,” according to the agenda. The actions that resulted in the articles of impeachment are unclear, though they are likely related to the “tequila” party held on February 20.

Wait…..what??? These two students are actually being disciplined for this? And the school is supporting it??!! Fuck. Bowdoin. College. If you’re an alumni of this school you have to be so embarrassed right now. This is humiliating. And I’m sure the vast majority of students and alumni think this is insane too. But unfortunately the administration is caving to the yoyo’s, because they’re yelling the loudest.

These are the two students who are being “impeached”:

12778749_10204614199948598_5055764029705446891_o

941801_10202791529936041_43978362_n

Yea, they seem like such monsters!! Are you noticing a trend here? The three known students who either went to the party or don’t think it’s a big deal are all athletic and/or attractive. Meanwhile, this is one of the offended students who is leading the impeachment proceedings:

12359838_922292687808706_5408698030737762180_n

And guess what? This kid wasn’t actually offended by the sombreros. He was offended because he wasn’t invited to the party. This kid has obviously NEVER been invited to a party in his entire life, which is why he’s so angry and bitter at such a young age. And now he’s got a little power from being on the student government board, and he’s gonna whip it out and show you who the boss is.

Here’s something the “bigoted” Clare wrote a couple months back while watching the Missouri protests (which turned out to be based entirely on a false story of a racial incident that never happened):

Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 10.01.48 PM

Ya see what she did there? She tried. She tried to show the world that she was one of the good ones. Was she misguided and wrong? Yup. But as a white girl she felt the pressure to prove to the world that she was against racism which never actually happened at Missouri. And how do they repay her? They put her on trial because she was at a party where someone was wearing a mini sombrero. So the lesson learned for Clare is simple – stop trying to please social justice warriors. Because with them it’s never enough.

One last thing to show you just how full of shit all these people are. Here’s something we found out in the Washington Post’s article:

The school’s reaction seems especially arbitrary when you learn that — on the very same night of the “tequila party,” just across campus — Bowdoin held its annual, administration-sanctioned “Cold War” party. Students arrived dressed in fur hats and coats to represent Soviet culture; one referred to herself as “Stalin,” making light of a particularly painful era in Slavic history.

So here’s the message the administration is sending to students – you can dress up in the ethnic clothing of certain people, but they’ve gotta be white. And Russians are close enough to white and they’re barely real people anyway.

The bottom line is that in nine days Turtleboy will be getting wasted at the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Am I Irish? No, I’m American, but my ancestors are from Ireland. Nevertheless, I’ll be wearing green and pretending to like Dropkick Murphy’s and limericks, and you can do the same. I don’t give a shit what race or ethnicity you are, because on St. Patty’s Day we’re all Irish. See – you don’t HAVE to get mad about stuff like this. Sometimes it’s OK to kick back and enjoy life.

I’m a Jewish person and went to Bowd. Talk about insensitive: a faculty member said he was taking “Jew bread” to the next class. I suggested he meant a “bagel,” and he said “right. That’s what they’re called.”

To best affect Social justice, we hereby and hereunto DEMAND forthwith that the following remedial measures be taken on the Bowdoin campus:

    1. The vending machines in the student union immediately stop selling Fritos

    2. See above — same thing except that Doritos have to go asap as well

    3. No more tacos for dinner unless they are authentic and then only Latinos, Latinas and Latinae may get them.

    4. Stop making fun of Hanley Ramirez’s defensive skills

    5. No one may forthwith quote the Dos Equis Most Interesting Man in the World Ads.

    6. Anyone who calls David Ortiz Big Poppy instead of Big Popi will be sent to a North Korean reeducation camp.

    7. Cesar Chavez’s birthday should now be a day free of classes

    8. Book Los Lobos or Santana for Ivies weekend

    9. Any White person who uses “¿que pasa?” as a greeting will be subject to social probation.

    10. Eliminate the French Dept.

    These are our demands.

These people have lost touch with reality, TB. They are parodies. I have a hard time believing this isnt a comedy skit.

I have been to Mexican themed parties thrown by white people and attended by REAL Mexicans who have donned the somberos and played along with the theme with not one bit of offense. Because somberos and tequilla and having fun while eating burritos and all the foods that aren’t even Mexican at all was seen as fun. Period.

Pretty hilarious she thinks alumni are pissed because of the sombrero party. Hey honey, ever notice that Donald F’ing Trump is murdering everyone in the polls right now? Might be indicative about how most of the country feels about political correctness.

Besides, their protests are just practice for the louder protests that they will make about being in deep debt, that they voluntarily incurred, after graduating with a cost-gendered studies degree and zero prospects of income.

    Turtleboy,

I like the article, but there were a few factual errors. Bill De La Rosa is not actually on student government. The impeachment charges were brought up by his friends on the board. Not a big deal, but I thought you’d want to know.

Also, if you read the latest Rampell Washington Post article you’ll see that the administrators actually called sombreros “silly hats” less than a year ago. Talk about hypocrisy.

You are a truly heinous and misinformed individual. Evidently, you have nothing better to do than write about 20 year olds and stalk their Facebooks so that you can copy and paste their profile pictures into your eyesore of a website. Improve your fact checking, write about something worthwhile, stop targeting people you don’t know, and stop writing about a situation you cannot contextualize. You live 120 miles away. You know nothing about what is actually happening at the college. Do something more interesting with your life. Maybe leave your parent’s basement every once and a while. Every single person you called out in this article is smarter than you, a better person than you, and will be more successful than you. You, this article, and this blog are pathetic.
