Hey friends, are you tired of being called a racist? Would you like to have proof that you’re not? Well our friends to the north have just the thing.
The government of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario has an online pledge that you can take against racism and discrimination. Just head over to the city’s website and you can become a certified non-racist. I did it and it looks like this –
Pretty sweet looking right?
Here’s what they have to say about the program:
“It only takes a few seconds to go online and fill out the form,” says the program’s coordinator, Danny Krmpotich. When you click submit, your pledge is added to a running count of those who’ve also taken the pledge. There are so many different cultures in Canada; we face the challenges of acceptance and inclusion every day.”
Because I’ve taken the pledge I can’t say anything about that guy’s name.
But, he who should buy a vowel, went on to say…
“We hope this campaign will draw attention to what we as a society can accomplish when we stand together. Through the ‘Take the Pledge’ campaign we are working to make the world a more welcoming place where we appreciate all people, all cultures, and the talents they bring to our communities.”
This is what happens when Canada and SJW’s procreate – you get a squishy feel good idea that will accomplish exactly nothing. Except that it did give me something to mock, so thanks Canada.
This is no better than that stupid safety pin movement – can it even be considered a movement if it lasted less than a long weekend?
You know who will take this pledge seriously – all those folks suffering from white guilt. You know who won’t take this pledge – non-whites – because in their minds racism and discrimination is a one way street.
Listen, racism and discrimination do exist. The problem is that you are called a racist for just disagreeing with someone or some idea. Don’t like Obama? Racist. Voted for Trump? Racist. Post stories about stupid idiots who happen to be minorities? Racist. If everything is racist then nothing is racist.
You shouldn’t need a certificate to show you’re not a racist – it should show in your actions. And if we really want to fix race relations we need to be able to have an open and honest dialogue with each other. I shouldn’t need pointers on how to talk to my friends and co-workers who are minorities – yep it’s a thing – just Google it.
Gah – now I’m all pissed off and all I wanted to do was pick on Canada.
As useless as these certificates are – I think TurtleBoss should get one so he can whip it out the next time he’s called a racist.
