During the 49ers’ previous preseason games, San Francisco 49ers back-up QB Colin Kaepernick made the decision to stay seated while the National Anthem was playing and nobody batted an eye. On Friday, he did it again and someone took a photo, posted it on Twitter, and social media lost their mind about it.
No one had a clue as to why he was seated until Kaepernick spoke with NFL.com and threw gasoline on that social media fire with these comments:
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game against Green Bay. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
On Saturday, the NY Giants seemingly took a stand against Kaepernick’s actions, sending a message loud and clear by standing attentive as one while the National Anthem was playing.
Pretty deliberate sideline for the Giants during the anthem tonight. All players and staff standing. pic.twitter.com/5iqUJp4eqQ

It pains me to say this, because this is the team that ripped out Turtleboy’s soul on two nonconsecutive occasions, but God damnet do I have a lot of respect for the New York Giants.
Once again, we could care less what Colin Kaepernick does during the National Anthem. Sit, stand, whatever. The men and women who have fought and died for our country fought for our right to do whatever the fuck we wanna do. You have the right to be a dumbass in America, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
But it’s the fact that Kaepernick thinks he’s some kind of intellectual freedom fighter that makes him such an idiot. Like, he really thinks what he’s doing is making an ounce of difference. It’s not. When Tommie Smith and John Carlos put their fists in the air while accepting medals at the 1968 Olympics, they mattered. Because they actually won something and people were forced to pay attention.
If Kaepernick did this four years ago when he was actually good, it might’ve carried some weight. But we are talking about Blaine FREAKING Gabbert’s backup here. It doesn’t get any more irrelevant than that. Dude has been doing this protest for three weeks and NO ONE NOTICED!!! That’s how little he matters in the NFL.
So he sought out the media and did his best Shaun King impression. This is what this once budding superstar quarterback’s career has become. He’s like the kid from high school that started watching Alex Jones, is convinced everything is a conspiracy, and won’t shut the fuck up about it.
Anyway, like I said – great job by the Giants. Classy move from a classy organization. Now if one of them could just stand up and point out that their kicker is a woman beating piece of human garbage, that would be great too.
We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.
