Saw this post on the Spencer-East Brookfield Citizens Input Facebook Page yesterday, and wanted to share my thoughts on it:

We recently heard that the substitute teacher replacing Mr. Fahey was certified only in English. Mr. Fahey is a math teacher and MCAS is coming up in May. So I wrote to the Principal to confirm what I had heard. This is the response that I received: “That is true, the substitute is a certified teacher, but certified in English only. Due to the lack of math certified substitutes, a certified teacher is the best we could find on short notice. As to the timing, I had no control over timeline. “ Maybe this isn’t a big deal but my son was in Mr. Fahey’s class and I feel a little uncomfortable with an English teacher, and he’s probably a wonderful teacher, instructing our students to prepare for math MCAS. As to her comment about not having control of the timeline… She did have control of the punishment for Mr. Fahey so that excuse really doesn’t fly with me.

As a Turtleboy blogger I have been watching this shitshow from afar. I have never written about this up until this point because I haven’t done any research on it. But I just wanna say something to all the parents of kids at David Prouty – STOP BEING NANIBURGERS!!! Pardon my French, but that’s exactly what you’re being.  The guy who has been covering your story up until this point has been “nice Turtleboy.” I’m “mean Turtleboy.” I don’t care about your feelings. These assholes are fucking with your kids and you’re letting them get away with it. It’s time to take your school back.

Don’t get me wrong, I am 150% behind you and completely sympathetic to your situation. But these people work for you, and it’s almost like you’re forgetting that. I went to school in a regional school district to the south of you. Nobody fucked with our parents like this because our parents wouldn’t allow it. If anything remotely close to this happened at my high school, the superintendent’s office would be flooded with angry soccer moms in minivans wielding bread rollers. And they’d be shoving it directly up the superintendent or principal’s ass until they did what was in the best interest of the students.

Seriously, your kid has a right to learn math. It’s why you pay taxes. And now, at the most critical time of the year, the district isn’t providing your kid with a math teacher. They’re throwing in a scab English teacher and they’re hoping that you’ll bend over and take it. And you are.

And herein lies the problem. She just fed you a spoonful of shit and your response was, “Oh well, maybe this isn’t a big deal,” which is exactly what she hoped you would say. Instead of doing something about it you just went on Facebook and posted about it, knowing that you’d get some likes. But that’s all it is. It’s just a ranting session where everyone agrees with each other. Sure, once in a while this guy will chime in:

And everyone tells him to shut up and you feel good about yourself. But it doesn’t help solve the problem.

So what can you do? Well for one thing, stop taking their bullshit answers sitting down. This “principal” is the third your kid has had this year. She claims she knew nothing about this investigation and the amount of days in the suspension, and the timing of said suspension. But they were both 100% her call. She easily could have waited until after MCAS or waited until an arbitrator could make a decision. But she’s a corrupt useless hack who hates children and was fired at Jacob Hiatt Elementary by Melinda Boone. She doesn’t give a shit about your child’s education. She only cares about pleasing her bosses, and to do that she had to make sure your child couldn’t learn.

Here’s what you do. Go to the school every day and refuse to leave. Go into the blue house where Tracy Crowe spends her time and sit your ass down in one of those chairs and demand a meeting with her. If they still refuse to leave then you go directly to Peter Durant, Donnie Berthiaume, and Anne Gobi’s homes. We have all their addresses if you need them. Knock on their door every night at 6:30 PM, right when they’re eating dinner and tell them about how your kid wants to learn math but can’t because he doesn’t have a math teacher. They have the ability to stop this and they do NOTHING. And they do nothing because you’re not making them.

And if that doesn’t work, here’s the last thing you should be doing – telling your kids to occupy the gym again. That was literally the only thing that has ever gotten management to pretend like they care. Except this time, don’t allow your kids to be manipulated by going to some worthless meeting where she promises to give them a bathroom stall door. If my kid goes to this school the I’m making it clear to him and all his friends – no one leaves the gym until Tracy Crowe resigns.

No one is going to help your kids. Turtleboy has helped grow awareness, but it’s up to the parents to overwhelm them now. Take your school back from these dooshnozzles.

P.S. Lilly, you kicked out Clarence from the group SEBRSD Citizen’s Input group, but you never kicked me out. Don’t bother with the whole private Facebook group thing. Nothing on Facebook is really private.
