Do I Really Have To Explain How Racism Works AGAIN?

black white racism

By J-Dub

Goddamn it.

I really thought I took care of this back during my coverage of Ferguson. The mistake I made was that I assumed I only had to worry about Turtle Boy readers.  Apparently, I have to rehash this for the knuckleheads who are starting this new “boycott TBS advertisers because they are racist” hogwash.

To be honest, I’m not really a political guy, and I’m not from Woprcester, so I don’t get too deep into what happens here at TBS. In fact, I only pop here once in a while because a long time ago in a blogosphere far, far away, I used to run across Turtle Boy on various and sundry sports blogs. But once in a while, I see something here that I know Turtle Boy would want me to address.  Apparently, that topic is to call out these self-serving, self-appointed “moralists” who cry wolf over “racism” for their own political causes.

Whether it’s this stuff about North High or Ferguson, this is all about using the bugaboo of “racism” to keep people from seeing facts that destroy your case. As a middle-aged, educated black guy nothing angers me more than the people who do this, not just because they usurp the power of the accusation away from cases where it is really needed, an not just because every time they do it, they set race relations back another notch, but also because they will readily accept the pernicious nature of such accusations so long as they serve their purpose.

As long as there is breath in my body, I will not stand for that.

Like I said in my comments on Ferguson, this is where this crap gets personal. What the white “liberals”” who love to paint “racism” with a broad brush don’t understand or care about is that they actually empower “black on black” racism.  This does more damage to blacks than the Klan could have ever dreamed of doing, because not only does it give “racism” the “boy that cried wolf” effect, it divides a black community which can’t afford to be so segmented. These people would never dream of doing stuff like this if they actually gave a damn about the welfare of not just all black people, but especially the ones who can’t fight for themselves.

The mechanics work like this. Inasmuch as I was born black, I’m one of those “educated blacks” who got his “black card” revoked for “acting too white.” Better yet, those who still have their “black cards” act as though I’m supposed to be upset that I’ve been kicked off “Black Island.” To be honest, I knew I wasn’t interested in membership 30 years ago. It all starts when I’m on my way to college in the 1980’s and I’m applying for whatever money I can get. Because I came from a middle-class family, groups like the African-American College Alliance and the United Negro College Fund essentially told me to go shit in my hat. However, the minute I graduated and had a legitimate income, these same groups came to me saying things like how I “owed it to ‘my people’ to contribute to the success of ‘our’ future generations.”

Those conversations died once I asked who “our people” were. Of course, they all said “black people.” Then I asked why I wasn’t able to get anything from them when I was a black kid looking to go to school. That’s when I realized these groups only exist to continue the “Crabs in the Bucket” mentality. This theory runs rampant in “Black America;” it states that if there are several crabs in a bucket, and one tries to climb out, the others will pull him back down. If the crabs worked together, they could escape. But instead their selfishness and distrust maintains the status quo. The easiest way to describe this in terms of “Black America” is “if I can’t have it, neither can you.”

Black or white, that’s the mentality of people who use phony “racism” allegations for their own purposes. They couldn’t care less about those they are pretending to be defending; they are only advancing their own political agenda.

Doubt that? Then tell me what is to be positively accomplished by the “boycott” mentality against Turtle Boy advertisers? It’s not like TBS is a national presence, and it ins’t like they are sticking to national companies like General Motors. Instead, they are sticking it to  local businesses, not caring at all that should their efforts be successful, they are only hurting the local community they want you to believe they care about.  Better yet, how many of those local businesses would be forced to cut employees, many of whom might just be black?

The question becomes why would they do this? The answer is easy.  Shouting “racism” works, because everybody can see how scared white people are of that label.  That’s exactly why this is being done to the advertisers on TBS.  Sad as it is, it works.

Set your clock back to 1994 and the O.J. Simpson murder trial. This was a watershed moment in the history of race relations in this country because this was the moment when a black man got away with murder because a defense lawyer successfully hung a “racist” tag on a white cop. Since then, the worst thing you can do to a white person is this country short of killing them is to call them a “racist.”  Twenty-plus years after O.J., it’s as true as ever.

Time for a couple of cold hard facts.

Number one is that racism still exists, and it will always exist. While it is not one of the more appealing parts of human nature, it is part of it nonetheless, and human nature hasn’t changed since we moved out of caves and learned to cook with fire. Fact number two is that mainstream “White America” has become exceptionally intolerant of racism, so much so that the fear of being labeled a “racist” has led to many whites treating “Black America” and it’s problems like they were radioactive.

The real problem with that as it relates to Ferguson, North High, and any other situation is that there are large numbers of whites in this country who will go out of their way to avoid any dealings with blacks; the idea being that you can’t get burned if you don’t go near the fire in the first place. Tell me again how that is constructive?

Number two is by exploiting that schism, the people finding a racist under every rock are perpetuating the problem. It is not “racism” to criticize the action of a black person if the sole reason for objecting to that criticism is that the person being criticized happens to be black. By tagging such a situation as “racist,” it lessens the impact for claims of legitimate racism.

Again, somebody needs to explain to me how that is helpful.

You’re right Dub racism will always exist but race relations are better now than a generation ago and hopefully will get better in the future. This latest group of Worcester and Sutton race baiters are nothing but a bunch of narcissistic, imperious, atheistic old time commies whose God is chaos and want to undo the good of MLK and make a fast buck along the way. But they have been exposed and Worcester will not be duped! MLK and his peaceful followers had a thousand times more courage than the likes of cowards like H Rap Bown, Newton, Panthers, and the latest nut Farakan because they resisted the temptation to use violence. If they reacted with violence like these latest bunch of clowns would love, then we would of had another Civil War. Another thing, they love to squak about slavery but every movement to eliminate slavery in this country was started by the Christian Church.

Bringing religion into this is ridiculous. It has zero to do with it. Talk about using one topic for your own agenda

Today I will work out at Crossfit Worcester, shop for produce at Weepin Willies and take the family to dinner at Smokestack Urban BBQ. If I had time I’d grab a beer at Union Tavern or Bennies,Mobutu I will be SURE to gran an after work drink at those places next week.
