Dear Mainstream Media: When you inevitably steal this story and pretend we don’t exist, could you at least send us a free t-shirt or something? Thanks.
A turtle rider sent us this letter from The Arbors Kids of East Longmeadow daycare, about an employee who was terminated yesterday for bringing a gun to work:
I know the visceral reaction from people will be, “what an asshole,” bringing a gun around children. But need I remind people that three days ago an armed gunmen went into a church and started specifically targeting children? Or how in Newton, CT, twenty defenseless children were slaughtered?
In the immediate aftermath of a tragedy like what happened in Texas, politicians on both sides of the aisle use it to grandstand. If the killer’s white the left blames it on guns. If the killer’s brown the right blames it on immigration. Then virtue signaling, blue checkmarked assholes trying to make it big on Occupy Democrats tweet how useless your thoughts and prayers are without “taking action.”
Well, what do you think this guy with the gun was doing? Taking action. How long are we going to allow our children to be target practice for armed madmen? If the gun was legally registered, and the reason this guy brought the gun to work with him was because of what happened in Texas, then he shouldn’t be fired, he should be commended. Because the fact of the matter is that guns are not going anywhere. There’s literally nothing that can be done about it. Even if you banned guns altogether people would still have access to them. See the war on drugs for more information on that.
So this employee did the next best thing – prepared himself for a worst case scenario. Because although I’m sure the East Longmeadow Police are fully capable and trained to take down a hypothetical gunman, children would be dead by the time they were able to do so. This isn’t a left-right thing. This is just common sense.
P.S. If you were the employee, or you know who that employee is, please contact us and we’d love to share your side of the story. Same goes for the daycare, but I doubt they’d want to comment on this to Turtleboy.
