A couple who run a “Zen Buddhist home temple” say recent complaints about their garden shed are motivated by the “presence of People of Color, more than Westhampton has ever seen,” at their 263 Main Road property. Ryumon H. Baldoquin and Catherine Hondrop are seeking a zoning variance for the shed, which several years ago was built within 20 feet of a neighbor’s property line, a violation of local code. The Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on the matter Feb. 13 at 8 p.m.
Stop right there. “Zen Buddhist home temple.” I already know everything I need to know about these people. It’s a bunch of old hippies who pretend to be Buddhist because that’s what hippies of a certain age do.
Newsflash – this is the very definition of cultural appropriation. You’re not really buddhist. You’re just hippies from Westhampton.
In a Feb. 7 letter to “friends, neighbors, and community supporters,” the couple urge robust attendance at Tuesday’s hearing, and say they have been the target of “harassment, disrespect, and bullying” because they are a “same-sex, interracial couple with extended family and friends on both sides who are dark skinned.”
If it weren’t for identity politics these people would have nothing to talk about. For fuck’s sake, even their dogs are interracial. Surely they must have some sort of evidence that they are being “attacked” due to their sexuality and race, and not because they’re violating zoning laws, right?
The couple say when they built the shed five years ago, the town’s building inspector told them no permit was needed and made no mention of a 20-foot rule. They say someone filed a complaint about the shed after their Zen center hosted a meditation retreat for “brown and black youth from Hampshire College.” They also allege that three people, including an abutter, trespassed on their property last April and posted signs along the border that said “no trespassing” and “no dumping.” The abutter allegedly told Baldoquin “you are bringing people over to dump on my property,” according to the letter.
Hampshire College!! HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! So they had a discriminatory “meditation retreat,” that only black and brown Hampshire College students could attend, and they hosted it in the shed in the backyard. Ya got that? A bunch of radical, SJW trasnwhatevers from a fake school that doesn’t hand out grades, showed up to live in a shed in their backyard. They started dumping everywhere and their garbage got into the neighbor’s yard, which they didn’t like.
Must be racism and homophobia. That’s the only logical conclusion I can reach.
While Baldoquin and Hondrop are now applying for a zoning variance “to bring up these harmful and community destructive issues,” the matter is “NOT ABOUT A GARDEN SHED,” the two wrote.
We know it’s not about a garden shed. It’s about you playing the race card so that you can get around zoning laws. You know that everything you stand for is meritless the second you have to resort to blaming racism.
Complaints that the couple’s driveway “looks like a parking lot in Springfield” with “suspicious cars and people” are “code words for racism,” the two wrote. They said complaints have also been lodged about their “business and religious activities.”
SJW’s love to say, “code words” and “dog whistles” for anything they perceive as being racist. Because they can’t find actual examples of racism, so they have to make it up by pretending that normal people use elaborate coding devices to express racist sentiments without anyone noticing. But these hippies are onto us!!
The couple wrote that they filed a police report after two “Black Lives Matter” signs were stolen from their driveway. The couple asked their supporters to speak up in favor of the garden shed variance, and wrote that “the targeting of others because of differences can easily hide behind the guise of following rules and regulations, especially in small New England towns.” Hondrop runs the Life Center for Network Chiropractic out of the home, according to the business’ website. The two founded Two Streams Zen, a “multi-cultural dharma movement transforming people and communities through fearless intimacy and living compassion.”
Yea, here’s some images from the cream filling’s Facebook page:
Pink pussy hats, calls for impeachment, and endless supplies of white guilt. What are the odds that these people would end up playing the race card the second someone tried to enforce existing laws on them?
Oh, and they have a blog. Check out this entry:
I sit in my rural home temple, listening to the news of yet another young white man who has taken a gun as a means to act out his suffering. At first I am struck by the fact that this happened in a church, a house of worship, until I am reminded by a friend’s email that this is not new news– that white men since the beginning of this country, have invaded sacred spaces to massacre indigenous peoples.
Now imagine you substituted white with black in this blog. What would that be called? Oh yea, racist. This blog was about the racist shithead who killed 9 black people in Charleston. Terrible indeed. But to say that he was “yet another white man” to commit an act like this, is just patently absurd. How many white people have hunted down black people like prey in this country and not been held accountable? Because over 100 million white men live in America, and I can’t come up with more than a handful.
But if you were to say something like,
“I sit in my rural home temple, listening to the news of yet another young black man who has taken a gun as a means to act out his suffering.”
That would be racist. Even though black people kill each other at exponentially higher rates than white people shoot up black churches. But then again facts are the enemy of most SJWs.
Then there was this:
On NPR I heard the mother of a woman who was killed say through her tears that she forgave the shooter. At this moment I lack the strength of heart, of faith in a God who is all forgiving, to honestly say such words. Perhaps tomorrow. Today I look to my Bodhisattva vows and try to listen deeply to the cries of this world, including the cry of my own heart. I want to say to those who ask, “What does Dharma have to do with dismantling white privilege and racism?” I want to say to these people that “it” walked through the open and loving doors of a black church and sat down concealing a loaded gun.
What the hell is she even talking about? She’s literally just making shit up and appropriating a culture that has nothing to do with her sheltered white existence in Westhampton. She keeps saying how she refuses to forgive the shooter and how angry she is, which is the exact opposite of what a real Buddhist would say.
Here’s my question – why is the town of Westhampton endorsing these crooks?
Zen priest? What does that even mean? She’s just some elderly chick from Westhampton who pretends to be a Buddhist and invites college students for slumber parties in the backyard. If she was really a priest she’d have them over before they hit puberty!!
I don’t know how people live in towns like Westhampton. I live down south, closer to actual civilization in the 413. There’s a HUGE difference between the area immediately surrounding Springfield (Ludlow, the Longmeadows, Agawam, West Springfield, Chicopee, Westfield) and the rest of Western MA. We are the normal part. Once you hit Holyoke or South Hadley it all turns into a bunch of granola eating lunatics who have moved far away from people of color but still pretend to be their advocates.
