Reverend – (rev-er-uhnd) adjective – worthy to be revered; entitled to reverence.

Well the definition of reverend sure has changed since I was in catholic school. Back then, they aspired to mentor children from broken homes and lead them down a path where they can overcome their difficult childhoods and grow up to be productive members of society. Which brings us to the curious case of Shaun Harrison, a Dorchester “mentor” accused of executing one of the 17-year-old teens he was supposed to be helping.

After searching Harrison’s basement safe, police found no copies of the bible or rosary beads, but instead turned up 29.5 grams of coke, bags of marijuana, a smith and Wesson revolver. and shell casings. All the fixins for a lively Sunday morning mass!

Despite overwhelming evidence against him, Harrison has pleaded not guilty, and has surprisingly drawn support from many of his constituents. Fellow “reverend” Vernard Coulter referred to Harrison as “a great guy that we continue to love“. Coulter went on to say that he “is not taking sides in this case and he is praying for both Harrison and the teen.” Not taking a side in this case ?!?!? Hey Vernard, I’ll take the side of the dead 17-year-old with a bullet in his head.

Another interesting quote by a fellow reverend was from Robert Derosa who claimed that Harrison “was under attack by the enemy”, holding a special prayer on March 6 on Harrison’s behalf. Once again, no prayer for the dead kid though. Thanks Reverend Derosa! With supportive clergymen like this, who needs criminals?

Rev.-Shaun-O.-Harrison2

Some other excerpts from Harrison’s Facebook page include him, “threatening to give a father a beat down” and, naturally, calling Boston cops “out of control” after an incident between a Roxbury community college teenager and police. Those racist cops should treat teenagers as well as you do Shaun! Harrison’s attorney also referred to the dope-dealing child-killer as a “pillar of the community”. Harrison’s bail was set at $250,000.

Not very becoming of a man of the cloth. I never remember the pastor at my church calling the cops out of control or threatening to give parents beat downs. Maybe I was at one of those weird church’s with prayers, the Ten Commandments, and a sermon about something good or a some life lesson.

I dunno, that Old Testament has some pretty brutal stuff in it. Maybe he was spending too much time reading the lesser-known parts of the first half of the book, like the time the guy in the sky had two bears maul 42 teens to death for making fun of a prophet for being bald. That almost makes this guy look tame.
