For Central and Western MA people, Turtleboy will be on the air tomorrow at 8:05 on Rock 102.1 FM for the Bax and O’Brien morning show. We’ll be talking about the confederate flag fiasco up in Greenfield, since it’s all the rage in Western MA right now. Tune in.

On that note, we did hear back from the principal at Kennedy Middle School in Northampton, and I’m sure we are not the only people she heard from. She said that she couldn’t discuss personnel matters, which is completely understandable. We trust that she will be speaking with teacher Rod Smart about these inappropriate things he chose to share on his Facebook page:

Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 2.17.00 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 1.34.38 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 1.40.51 PM

Sergeant McCarthy has been forced to take down the flag in his garage, so we can assume that the public schools will hold one of their teacher’s to an equal standard of professionalism.

unnamed-2

Rod’s husband Lindel is also a teacher of sorts. He teachers yoga at the prestigious Deerfield Academy. And since Deerfield Academy is a expensive ($37K per year) private school, he’s not held to the sort of standards that his husband Rod is. Probably a good thing too, because his Facebook page would hardly be considered appropriate for student’s eyes:

He also stars as Frankenstein, in some sort of adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel that he wrote and directed himself, and is promoted by the school. Basically it’s just an excuse for him to get naked and post pictures on Facebook.

This whole confederate flag thing also isn’t the first time he’s had an incident with a neighbor, who he thought should be forced out of the neighborhood:

Screen Shot 2015-12-04 at 10.50.32 PM

Man, these guys sound like AWESOME neighbors. Who wouldn’t wanna live next door to people who spy on you, run to the media, call you racist, and demand that you move out of Greenfield?

And he’s quite proud of the fact that he’s taken an innocent man’s name and run it through the mud:

Screen Shot 2015-12-04 at 10.45.54 PM

Screen Shot 2015-12-04 at 10.45.41 PM

Screen Shot 2015-12-04 at 10.44.52 PM

The worst part about Rod and Lindel is that they didn’t have the dignity to knock on their neighbor’s door and tell him that they didn’t like what they saw as they spied on him in his garage. They never bothered to ask him what it was doing there. They never tried to get to know him. They didn’t need to because their mind’s were made up. He was racist. And as a matter of fact, according to Lindel, it was incumbent upon Sergeant McCarthy to come over to their house to explain the flag’s presence:

When asked what he envisions as a resolution, Hart said he wishes that in addition to the visits by the mayor and members of the police department, McCarthy himself came to the door and assured Hugh that he did not have to feel fearful about the flag.

unnamed-17

Hey moron, how bout YOU tell your son that he doesn’t have to be fearful about the flag. Because a ten year old kid would never look at a confederate flag and be scared. It takes two adults with an agenda to make him fear a flag he knows nothing about.

And why would Sergeant McCarthy EVER do something for you? You went out of your way to publicly humiliate him. You labeled him as a racist, and thought nothing of it. But please, tell me more how he owes you something.

Oh yea, and according to Lindel, whenever poor little Hugh sees 5-0 when they’re driving in the car, he loses his mind now because he’s scarred for life:

Hugh has struggled. He will come in from playing outside if there are police cars on the street, and if a police cruiser passes his parents’ car on the highway, he will duck down in his seat, his father said. For Christmas last year, Hugh asked Santa Claus for “white skin he could wear outside so he wouldn’t get shot,”

How dumb do you have to be to believe this? Seriously, no one is actually falling for this are they? These people are really mentally sick. It’s kind of scary that they were allowed to adopt a child and brainwash him with this sort of hatred. Because as much as they pretend like they’re the loving family who wants to protect their child from bad guys:

Screen Shot 2015-12-06 at 6.19.48 PM

Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 10.51.21 PM

They’re really just ultra PC dooshnozzles who continue to use their son for their own selfish political agenda. This whole thing revolves around the fact that they are personally offended by that flag. Well a lot of people would be offended by the things that these two teachers have shared on their public Facebook pages. The difference between them and Sergeant McCarthy, is that Sergeant McCarthy kept his offensiveness inside his garage, and these two share there’s for the world to see.

I can only hope this inappropriate fb accounts are reported to the MA Secondary dept ED forthwith by the principal he is employed at. And also to Deerfield academy……….totally inappropriate for an educator.

I guess I’ll cross this blog off of my educated opinions list. I was impressed with the post criticizing the backlash against DCF. While you made some sweeping statements, I also have an inside view to DCF, and much of what you said was spot on. Here you just sound uninformed and like you are trying to pick a fight or egg people on to do so with these fathers. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t say I would have gone about the issue in the same way, or that I would have posted certain things to social media, but that doesn’t mean the embracing of a hate symbol by a public official (whether the accuracy of this particular incident is in question or not) isn’t an issue that needs to be addressed. This blog post only serves to distract from the issue and make you look like an ill-informed homophobe.

Here’s a couple thoughts for you: a) I see nothing wrong with those photos from these men’s facebooks. They are adults who can post as they please. b) there are so many grammatical errors in your writing that I can’t take you seriously.

      1. I’m glad you see nothing wrong with these photos. Many see nothing wrong with a confederate flag in a garage. Funny how that works.
      2. They are adults who can do as they please. This doesn’t mean they have a right to indefinite employment at their job. Welcome to the real world as an adult in 2015.
      3. We don’t care if you take us seriously and we certainly don’t care about grammar. We just want you to click on the blogs, and you’ve done that and then some. Thank you.

Honestly, why are people like this allowed to do these things? That poor child is doomed. He’s being taught to be a victim. The world will chew that kid up and spit him out. The world has swung so far left that it really will take a Donald Trump to swing it back far enough right that we hopefully end up somewhere in the middle at some point. I for one and tired as hell of people like this. The world will always have people and things you don’t agree with. Suck it up and deal with it!

Everyone is missing the real point here. The two men who posted their rant on FB, FAILED to mention that Sgt. McCarhy doesn’t even live here! He lives on a totally seperate road and this is just a garage because the house was damaged in the hurricane. Others use this garage! Sooo yes Sgt. McCarthy ownes the property BUT does not even live here! So if a renter or tenant puts something inside a garage or store that was offensive should the land owner be crucified?!! But the media jumped all over the story because at first glance it sounded like a eye catching headline but they actually failed to do their job and investigate. So shame on the media for writing a story that they got via FB and didn’t actually research, and in turn tarnished Sgt. McCarthys career. I am
sure Mayor Matrin has put a gag order on the PD because he publically hates the police and this feeds his agenda too. The real victim is Sgt. McCarthy for getting destroyed over a none story that two men used for their political gain and the newspaper used to sell papers and make $$.

      December 7, 2015 at 6:50 pm

So, eye roller, from what you said it’s even possible that Mr. & Mr. Hart snuck into that garage and put up that flag themselves! That would not surprise me in the least. They’re morons seeking attention.

      • Eye roller
        December 7, 2015 at 7:15 pm

I have no idea who put the flag up, but the whole story is deflated when the actual facts are put out there. Newspaper headline saying “Police Sgt owns a garage that other people use and neighbors are offended by flag inside said garage”, is yawn worthy.

Um. So I hate that this site is just exacerbating the drama of this situation, and apparently other situations in other towns. You’re not actually helping, but making it worse. You are not here, you don’t actually know ANY of these people. I don’t care if you think you are doing public good by sharing “the truth”. The problem is the way that you are sharing your opinions. Let officials do their jobs, and stop your (and your commenters) bullying.

Someone was questioning the age of the child- he is definitely 10. He was on my son’s baseball team last year, and I got to know the family from there. They are nice people. I don’t know the officer, but I’d like to think he is a reasonable person. I agree that some of the FB posts are questionable, and shouldn’t have been posted, but that is completely separate from the main issue here.

How would you feel if your neighbor had a giant swastika hanging up? What about a white KKK hood and robe? These things are symbols of hate and generally speaking, aren’t publicly accepted. At all. But it’s okay to backlash these symbols but not others, like the confederate flag? What kind of backwards thinking is that? The feeling attached to any symbol are different for all folks, and hate is not only unnecessary, but scary for the groups of folks affected.

This flag and garage are highly visible by lots of young impressionable children every single day as it is across the street from a lower elementary school, and the garage is open a lot of the time. I think it was poor judgement to hang the flag so highly visible to the public. I also think that when the Hart’s posted the photo on Facebook- they did not directly go to the media like your site has previously stated- I can guarantee you they did not expect this to blow up like it has.

It’s okay to disagree with how this is playing out, but for the love of [whatever] keep it civil. You are adults, and not shitty ass 13 year-olds. Keep it to the facts.

    • Jafreese
      December 7, 2015 at 12:51 pm

I wasn’t questioning the kids actual age at all. I’m saying they are intentionally using a picture of a younger him to slant the story more to fit their agenda. Since you know him, please honestly tell us how old he is in that picture. No way that is a 10 year old.

As for telling people who aren’t there to not comment, please tell us if you follow your own advice and never ever comment on anything unless you personally know the people involved. Do you comment on news stories? Politics? Sports? I’d love to know if you just have zero opinion of you don’t know the people involved or if your comment was just another example of hypocrisy.

      • not your mom
        December 7, 2015 at 5:37 pm

In that article, he definitely looks much younger than now, so I would concur that its an older photo. I understand that you really just needed clarification, so o was clarifying. I hadn’t noticed the link to the story so I didn’t realize that’s what you were referring to.

And generally speaking, I occasionally comment, and never to bash anyone. I’m not a goody-two -shoes but I’m not a troll. If I ha e a negative comment, then I try and make sure its constructive, or offer help or suggestions. Many of the comments on the stories on this website are just nasty and needlessly mean and/or homophobic- of which those shouldn’t be tolerated- that’s all I’m saying.

        • Jafreese
          December 7, 2015 at 8:10 pm

Thank you for clarifying that. If they have an honest problem with confederate flag that’s their opinion and many others share it. But they seem to be using their kid to do it, and exaggerating/dramatizing too.

I totally agree that some comments do go overboard too. There was a real nasty one earlier. That stuff isn’t something I agree with at all. Not sure if you saw it before it was deleted.

Yeah, youre right, the only media that should be able to report on anything are those that live in the neighborhood and share the same view of the story. I’m sure that will lead to totally unbiased reporting. You sound like those baby fascist protestors. Bringing light to these issues is making things better, because if these fucktards aren’t exposed, we’ll all have to live under their perverted PC agendas. these weirdos are dumb enough to
Make their creepy pictures public, then they deserve to be called out on them, just like they decided to make the inside of this guys house public, a dose of their own medicine. If they cant take the heat, maybe they should mind their own fucking business from now on

so you think it’s appropriate behavior of the 2 sickos to be parenting and to be posting borderline gay porn to social media? Think about those shockingly gross photos and then think about, if they posted that to social media, I wonder what they may be posting to some darker parts of the wed. The picture of them and their kid is also an attempt to further spin this story. The article says their son is 10 but he looks way younger than that in that pic, and they describe how he is affected by this story as if he is much younger. A 10 year old today is definitely old enough to have serious, honest discussions about racism and current events. Unless he kid has some serious disabilities, I don’t believe for a second that a 9-10 year old would have asked Santa for white skin

And I agree that this represents the failing of two people who are twisting the mind of a young child to actually get them to believe police are not good. shameful shameful behavior especially for the educator.
