Apparently Fiesty Turtle has set the world ablaze with this blog about a Leicester man who announced on Facebook that someone had called the cops on him after he spent a breezy afternoon on a playground with some kids while wearing a rainbow cat in the hat shirt:
Basically Fiesty sided with the parents who erred on the side of caution by calling the cops and said she would’ve done the same thing. She also made some jokes about a kiddie van – a joke that we make ALL THE TIME when we’re blogging about people. It doesn’t mean they’re actually raping children in the back of these vans. It’s something called “satire.” We do that often around here.
For the record, I don’t for one second think that Jeremy Smith is any sort of pervert. Not at all. Cannot make that any more clear. The funny part about the whole situation was that he didn’t realize how a mother who DID NOT KNOW HIM would perceive his behavior as out of the ordinary. And he made a Facebook post about it, that basically criticized concerned parents and the Leicester Police Department for doing their job. Ya know, because it’s not every day you see this guy by himself at the playground:
The funny part to me was that he was genuinely surprised and outraged this happened. Look, if I went down to the park by myself, covered in tats, with hair like that, and rocking that outfit, I’d expect someone to call the cops on me. The only question is how long would it take?
I’m only writing this blog because of the volume of turtle riders who are triggered about this:
I understand where all these people are coming from. Many of them leave positive comments on our blog all the time, and for the first time we have let them down. Thanks Fiesty!!
But this guy is the lone exception. This guy sucks:
Hey Eugene, if you wanna meet up with Fiesty face to face you can go on down to Whitco at high noon and take a number just like the rest of the butthurts. Oh, and mentioning slander on our Facebook page is always a smart thing to do. Always.
But the thing about Eugene is, he’s the biggest hypocrite who has ever lived. Ya see, Eugene is all mad that Fiesty made a couple jokes about a kiddie van because we’re “slandering” Jeremy’s name. But yet, he just did the same exact thing to his kid’s vice principal and teachers:
Oh look, Eugene is calling his son’s teachers “child molesters and criminals.” But yea, he has a right to feign outrage when someone else makes jokes about a kiddie van.
Oh yea, and if you’re a grown man calling your kid’s vice principal a tool because he suspended him for violating school rules, then it might actually be you who is the tool. This line said it all:
“Granted my son does question authority constantly and wants a reason behind decisions.”
Stop right there!! I already know everything I need to know about your parenting strategies and why your kid finds himself in situations where he’s getting suspended. If you don’t think it’s a problem that your kid is “constantly” questioning authority, then you’re a ratchet parent. I got no problem with Jeremy, but Eugene can go fuck himself.
Watch out though – he’s leading a crusade to ban Turtleoby Sports from the Internet:
Uh-oh!!! This could be our downfall!!
The bottom line is, the cops did their job. They responded to a call, they questioned the guy about alcohol for a reason, and when they found out he was sober and not diddling kids everyone went home. This is how policing works.
And no, I do not blame the parent who called the cops. I’d rather a thousand people go through the brief inconvenience Jeremy Smith did (which he kind of brought on himself with his choice of outfit) then one innocent kid get nabbed or diddled. When people mind their own business because they’re too afraid of the consequences of profiling other people, innocent people become victims. No one called the cops on the Orlando nightclub shooter because they didn’t wanna be called Islamophobic. Meanwhile right on Beechmont Street in Worcester there was a legitimate cannibal who was planning on kidnapping, torturing, and EATING a small child.
If someone saw that guy at Duffy Field by himself, I wouldn’t hold it against them if they called the cops. Just sayin. For every thousand completely innocent Jeremy Smith’s, there’s one of these guys. They’re real. They’re monsters. They’re out there amongst us.
The bottom line is that Jeremy Smith made this a story when he posted his rant on Facebook. Obviously something like that is gonna get sent to us. You can’t ride the turtle and then get all butthurt when the turtle swims to your town.
P.S. This was a much needed distraction from Popup-gate.
