Janice Harvey is a teacher at Worcester North High School, who moonlights as an op-ed writer for Worcester Magazine. None of us have ever met her before, but she seems like a groovy lady. None of us necessarily agrees with her on everything, but she is a really talented writer. In many cases she basically says what I’m thinking, but she says it in a respectful manner and without the Worcester crass that so offends the easily offended. Unfortunately for her the fact that she even MENTIONED Turtleboy in a recent column has the hippies all hot and bothered.

I only bring her up because she wrote one of the most on-point columns I’ve ever read the other day for WoMag. Entitled, “Coming Together, Or Tearing Us Apart?”, the article exposes the hypocrisy that comes from the Coming Together Circlejerk, and all the other “organizations” who masquerade themselves as champions of the “community.” Naturally she’s being attacked for it by the hippies.

Janice never once defended us in her article. She specifically remains unbiased when referencing our feud with the Telegram:

The problems at North have been blasted across the front pages of the city’s newspapers and woven through social media threads. Word wars have erupted between the Telegram and Gazette’s columnist Clive McFarlane – a champion of Dr. Melinda Boone – and the folks behind the controversial blog Turtleboy Sports; as lines formed on either side, inevitably, walls were built.

That’s fair. She’s clearly not taking sides with anyone, despite the fact that Clive McFarlane has called her out several times in his columns for having the audacity to share her opinions on Facebook. (Clive said he would fire teachers who dare to question Boone on Facebook)

Next Janice called out these frauds for being the frauds that they are:

As if this flow of vitriol wasn’t enough, onto the stage climbs the Coming Together Collective – “activists” who formed themselves in a group within days of Boone’s interview with the T&G, where she declared herself a perpetual outsider “bullied and abused” by Worcester’s citizenry. Timing is everything, and the Collective, which includes the owner and operator of a diversity program who could – dare I suggest – profit from any business such chaos might create, held a press conference to air their concerns, followed by an appearance at the School Committee’s last meeting.

She’s right. This group didn’t exist two weeks ago. They literally formed for the sole purpose of defending Melinda Boone. They call themselves “coming together collective,” which means that you either supports Melinda Boone or else you are a racist. Oh yea, and they’re profiting off of this racial division because they’re attempting to mandate diversity training in North High school for the teachers, for which they will be paid handsomely.

This was one of my favorite parts:

As the only newspaper columnist who works at North High, I feel I’m uniquely qualified to comment on the allegations made regarding race, the past and current climate at the school, and the toll these negative words have had on faculty and students alike.

Exactly. She works there. Coming Together Circlejerk does not. Do Brenda Jenkins and Joyce McNickles go down to the autobody shop and tell Smitty how to do an oil change? Do they go to the hospital and tell doctors how to conduct open heart surgery? Of course not. Because they’re not the professionals.

Yet they have ZERO problem telling teachers how to do their jobs, despite a lack of ANY classroom experience. They have told us that their is a racial divide in the school between the teachers and students. Yet they don’t work in the building or have children that attend school there. This is why in my opinion you’d be insane to wanna be a teacher. You have to get your Master’s and you’re held to the highest standard possible, but at the end of the day you’re treated like an unskilled laborer. Outsiders who have never done the job you’ve done tell you all the things you’re doing wrong.

This is the part that’s got her in hot hippie water though:

McFarlane has ignored an invitation from one of our union representatives to visit the school and get to know North kids and their teachers, yet he boldly suggests that North’s teachers cannot connect with children of color unless they too are non- white. He really should take us up on it. He’d see that our staff, which is not even close to being lily-white, is color-blind, and thankfully so are our students.

First of all, anyone who defends Clive McFarlane has instantly achieved moron status. The “educational expert” has never been to North High, but it is friends with a couple North High teachers on Facebook, therefore he’s qualified to talk about safety plans for the school.

The two words that caught the ire of the Coming Together Circlejerk were “color blind.” Because in case you missed the latest PC memo, this is the new “n” word. It’s a big no-no. As soon as I saw she wrote that I immediately knew that shit would hit the fan. Because stating that you assess your students based on their merit suggests that you look past the color of their skin. Therefore you’re ignoring the things that make them different from you. And without racial division, the hippies wouldn’t have anything to talk about.

Because at the end of the day these geniuses don’t want unity. They want division. Joyce and Brenda will be the first to tell you that it’s good for business. Here are some of the genius comments the yahoos have left:

“If you are color blind you are blind to the very things that make it hard for students of color. to be colorblind is to ignore the racial analysis ….to be colorblind is to ignore any solution…this article is crap….”

Yes, the first thing you should notice about your students is the color of their skin. That’s what a good teacher would do Janice!! How dare you suggest that race doesn’t matter to you!! Don’t you know you’re supposed to constantly highlight our differences? The only “solution” to racial division is to increase it.

So, if a student who’s not white feels that there’s racism they should just shut up and stop being so sensitive. You’re really creating a supportive environment for all students to feel included and valued here by telling everyone there’s no racism because you don’t see it yourself. I understand white people taking it as a personal attack when they think they’re being called racist, but telling everyone that there is NO RACISM is wrong. It must be amazing to teach in a school where there’s no racism and everyone is equal.

Yea Janice, there IS racism at North High School. This guy would know. He’s sitting at home on his computer while you work in the building itself. Clearly he knows more about race relations in your workplace than you do.

“Dear white people, just because a business/school/organization is not being racist to you does not give you the knowledge to say there is no racism there.”

Right. So we’re better off just assuming that the teachers at North High are racist. That sounds like a healthy way to run a school.

“It (the article) just helps you feel better about yourself so you can go on denying that racism is a real an experience of students and faculty of color in your school and for that matter school systems everywhere.”

Oh look, another person speaking for ALL people of color. Don’t tell J-Dubs!!! Clearly EVERY person of color feels they are being oppressed at North High school because of their race. Because there’s nothing racist at all by assuming that the color of your skins determines your world view. Get with the program Janice Harvey. How dare you suggest that you’re not racist!! How dare you suggest that you care about all your students!! Don’t you know that people on the Internet who have never stepped foot in North High School know more about it than you do?

Talking about racism only creates a racial divide when people aren’t willing to talk about it.

AKA, let’s NEVER stop playing the race card. Ever.

Soooo, let me get this straight. You have the turtle boy sports vile-spewing individual call your students “savages” and “animals”, but, you are bothered by a group of people who are deeply concerned that your (our) students are being attacked- people who actually put a lot of thought behind really good recommendations.

HAHHAHA. If you think for one second that Joyce McNickles or Brenda McNeil gives a flying fuck that any student or teacher at North High was assaulted, then I have a horse ranch in Nantucket you gotta see. Turtleboy Sports cares about the students and teachers at North High. We’ve reached out to them and they reach out to us. We actually listen to what they’re saying and form our opinions based off of their first-hand insight.

When a kid punches a principal in the face, he or she is acting in a savage manner. Anyone who denies that is a politically correct fraud of the highest degree. Unlike you chumps, we WANT North High School to be a safe place. That’s why we were advocating for the common sense solution to add a police officer there, to protest the 1,400 peaceful students and teachers who go there every day. And wouldn’t ya know it? North High hasn’t been in the news since. Weird.

You don’t want safety. You don’t care about teachers. You don’t care about students. You care about a political agenda, and lining your pockets with taxpayer subsidies and “diversity training” seminars.

And of course Old Balls Baldino had to chime in:

To insist that race is not a factor in the treatment of Superintendent Melinda Boone is as ridiculous as saying that race is not a factor in the treatment of Barack Obama.

The reason I hate politics is because of morons like Old Balls here. No matter what, it always has to come back to Obama with these people. Right and left. Gotta love his logic though. According to him Melinda Boone can NEVER be criticized solely because she is African-American.

In 1989 a student at South High was murdered in the school corridor and bled to death in the main office. There were no calls for white male Irish Catholic Superintendent John Durkin to resign, no threats to vote against the school committee members who supported his appointment, no parents shouting insults at Durkin during school committee meetings

Right. Because John Durkin and Jim Garvey did something about it. I went to South High Mr. Old Balls. We couldn’t wear the color orange because it was an identified gang color. Ya got that? An entire color of the rainbow was BANNED. That’s because I went there in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. Administration saw that something was terribly wrong and drastic steps had to be taken. So they started cracking down on the bullshit. I remember seeing police in and around South all the time. Melinda Boone has a similar crisis on her hands, and her response is to let these nudniks from Coming Together Circlejerk, who have an obvious anti-police bias, dictate policy in our schools.

jaaox

Why do you demand things from Boone, like collaboration with teachers and visits to schools, that you never got from the white guys?

Ummm, because the “white guys” actually did something about it. Melinda Boone has sat on her ass and handed off the reigns of school policy to Jocye McNickles.

Doesn’t it make sense to have a leader of color in a school system that is majority-minority?

I think it makes the most sense to have the most qualified person possible running the school system. But that’s none of my business.

“And to give props to the vile coward Turtleboy Sports is just disgusting…but at least the author has revealed her allegiances. she reveres a man who calls her students “savages” enough said.”

I must’ve missed the part where she showed Turtleboy Sports reverence. Apparently now if you don’t publicly call Turtleboy a racist then you are in fact racist yourself. Got it.

I know you probably don’t wanna be aligned with Turtleboy Sports because we’re too hot right now Janice. I get that. I’m sure you don’t agree with everything that we write. But that’s OK too, because we don’t expect anyone to. All we want is to be the voice of the silent majority who have been silenced for far too long by bullies like Joyce McNickles and crew. Janice can’t champion herself, but we can. I invite any North High student who thinks these wild accusations of racism about their teachers are baseless, to email us at turtleboysports@gmail.com, or message us on Facebook. We’d love to hear your story.

My fav part is where Janice smashes Carlo “What channel is Matlock on?” Baldino. Then he replies with off the wall “2 people told me I changed their lives!” and “They dedicated a yearbook to me!!!!” reinforcement of what Janice said, hes a wack job and the butt of most jokes in the Worc Public School system.

Imagine that, some old guy who lives in one of the whitest towns in the MA, thinks hes down with the struggle and considers his red headed and pasty complexion blacker than most blacks, thinks a yearbook should be the pinnacle of everyone’s lives. Holy shit that guy needs Alzheimer meds.

A number of yearbooks are dedicated to the advisor to the Senior Class. Was this the case?

If so, wow, only two of the kids thought he had a significant influence on them?

      Well done, Carlo.

Welcome to the 21st century, where merely disagreeing with a black person makes you a bigger racist than David Duke.

These are dark times we’re living in, so glad I graduated ~10 years ago, and that we weren’t having things run by a group of uninformed bullheaded biased hacks.
