We all know the hippies aren’t the brightest bulbs in the Woo, but their latest stunt is laugh out loud funny. One of these geniuses actually has started an online petition to change the name of Plantation Street because it’s racist:

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 8.27.07 PM

Dear Mayor Petty,

We demand that you rename Plantation Street in Worcester, Massachusetts as it is a symbol of oppression. Instead, we demand that homage is paid to those who died in the quest to free themselves from from the hands of those sought to keep them as laborers never as citizens and as property not as people. We demand that Plantation Street be renamed in honor of those who fought for their freedom. Currently, the name “Plantation Street” serves as a reminder of a painful history for descendants of African American slaves.

We demand that you permanently remove names and symbols of white supremacy.

The time has come for us to stop honoring both those who fought to preserve the institution of Black bondage as well as those who profited from it.

The other day we wrote a blog about the clusterfuck that Plantation Street has become. Shoutout to Mike McAleer for calling this one:

LOL. The hippies are just way too predictable. That’s their problem. They disregard facts because it might stop them from making up imaginary racism. Because without racism, they’d literally have nothing to talk about it. Their lives are that meaningless.

Quick little historical lesson for the hippies that you can find after about .00018 seconds of Googling:

“English settlers arrived to the Worcester County area and found, what looked to them as, dispersed yet abandoned villages. The Nipmuc that were encountered, were friendly and attempted to adopt the white man’s ways. Rev. John Elliot introduced and converted many Native Americans to Christianity. Clusters of the converted Indians formed “praying towns” to practice their new religion. In 1637, the first settlement of Worcester was called the “Village of Quinsigamond” or the “Quinsigamond Plantation.”

Ya got that? The land that is known as “Worcester” today, was originally a Native American settlement called “Quinsigamond.” White people showed up to this strange place, and wouldn’t ya know it – they hit it off with the Natives. Together they formed “Quinsigamond Plantations.” You know, because they were planning on “planting” stuff there to eat. Generally that’s what happened on plantations. People grew shit and lived there. Not everything is Django.

So where did Plantation Street get it’s name. Well, lookie here:

Oh wouldn’t ya know it – it’s named after Quinsigamond Plantations. Stupid facts getting in the way of imaginary racism!!!

The Worcester hippies weren’t the first ones to pull this boner though. Back in 2010 some Providence hippies took it one step further. Ya see, Rhode Island’s official name is State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. The Providence hippies thought this was racist (even though it had nothing to do with slavery) and they got a referendum on the ballot to change the name to “Rhode Island.”

It failed miserablyBecause State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is the longest state name in the country. And Rhode Islanders obviously have little man syndrome and want to be the biggest at SOMETHING. Thus they soundly rejected the ballot measure:

Just another chapter in “Hippies Doing Hippie Things.” Never change hippies. Never change.

P.S. Look who already signed it:

Come on Boom-Boom. You’re supposed to be a college professor. Be better than that.

You know what’s really funny? The city is doing major work on Plantation St. from Belmont to Hamilton and the final stage is a complete resurfacing with BLACK TOP! Not only that but, for the most part a YELOW STRIPE will run down just about the complete length. Also WHITE LINES will be added to both shoulders. What color will be the most offensive?

    • Janie jones
      July 31, 2015 at 8:55 am

Ha! Your right. Are the hippies going to cry racism because the WHITE shoulder lines are on top of the BLACK surface? Is that symbolic of the “White Master”, oppressing the “Black Servant “? To the normal clear thinking person, this is obviously a joke. To the leftist, hippie degenerate this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It’s laughable yes but it’s also frustrating and sad. Ok, back to work. This is my opinion, I could be wrong.

    July 29, 2015 at 11:07 pm

A Mr. James Bonds(really) of the Concerned Black Men group, when they failed to have the name Chandler St. changed to MLK boulevard, and were instead pacified by the City Council with giving them East Central St, had this to say in the T&G back in 2006 :

“Our purpose is much greater than a street,” he said. “Our goal is trying to save black youth. A street name will help to build pride,” he said, but the ultimate goal is to get the black community involved in the overall community and the effort to uplift black youth.

LOL hows that working out for you? What were they trying to build pride in? Illiteracy and Syphilis? Mission Accomplished! #BLM

    • Janie jones
      July 30, 2015 at 8:21 am

Let’s be fair. Attempting to build pride in one’s community is a great idea however, it’s how you go about it. Pride, values, morality, etc… begins in the home, not on a metal street sign.I agree with you that it is absolutely laughable. Their priorities are totally mixed up due to poor leadership but at the very least they made an attempt which does show awareness of the multitudes of problems. The apathy and unaccountablity among legions of young black men is astonishing. It’s a culture of drugs, prison, exploiting women, guns, fighting and just general assholeness. The goal of any civilized society is progression. I just don’t see how a street name will do that. I am truly rooting for them to move on and succed. It will not happen until they accept the responsibility of their own actions and stop blaming everyone else. I just don’t think they care. This is my opinion, I could be wrong.

    • WTF..Worcester
      July 30, 2015 at 11:42 am

I still call it Central Street. It will always be Central Street, just like “Major Taylor BLVD” is Worcester Center BLVD. No one knows how Major Taylor is! WTF…

      • Wabbitt
        July 30, 2015 at 5:47 pm

Hell, I remember Worcester Center Blvd. as New Salem St.

  • Nanny
    July 29, 2015 at 8:41 pm

Since the other quote is still awaiting moderation: look up the official name of the state of Rhode Island. “Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.”

    Racist. obv.

  • July 29, 2015 at 3:33 pm

They are Social Justice Warriors, not hippies. Hippies at least have IQs above absolute zero.

When they aren’t following cops who are trying to clean up their own selfmade shitholes and then filming them hoping the arrested felon fights the cop so they can claim police brutality they sit around on their lazy asses coming up with some other nonsense.

  • Boynton neighbor
    July 29, 2015 at 2:43 pm

And when did this all begin?
At the “beer summit” heard round the world with the Cambridge policeman and the professor. That was July 2009.

  • Janie jones
    July 29, 2015 at 1:49 pm

This is so asinine and utterly foolish. These people are openly instigating and promoting racism. Instead of trying to heal and unify people through commonalities; these vapid, ignorant hippies are searching for anything they can use to push their leftist agenda of subservience and apathy. This is NOT rising up against an injustice. This is a clear and vile assault on our decent, hard working and civil ancestors who founded this city. Political correctness is a ruse. It’s like saying, “it’s not crime, it’s poverty”. Nonsense. As a white man, what if I came out and said “young thugs who wear there pants around there knees is racist”??? It’s a foolish comment but I would be considered a “racist”. We have real problems people. This is bullshit!

    July 29, 2015 at 6:54 am

I’m wondering if they realize how difficult it is to change the name of a street in the present day…. especially with 9-1-1 listings.

Fitchburg changed the name of Fifth Street to Cetrino Drive 15 years ago, and the switch was simple: no houses on Fifth Street, no need to change anything in a 9-1-1 database.

I’m an ex-smoker. I demand they change the name of Marlboro St. Or my friend, a native American, demands a name change for Algonquin, King Philip, Navajo, Seminole, Wigwam and Iroquis Sts. My friend is on a diet and demands a name change for Gingerbread Trail. My Jewish friend demands a name change for Church, Bishop, St John, St Elmo, St Nicholas, and St Paul Street. My Asian friend demands a name change for both Orient and Oriental Sts. My gay friend demands a name change for Gaylord and Queen Sts. My pacifist friend demands a name change for Military Rd, Admiral St, and Gold Star Blvd. My neighbor demands that you do not change the names of Mary Jane Circle and Beaver St.

Did anyone else notice that the petition “DEMANDS” the name change ? Not a respectful request, or suggestion, or ballot idea, but a damn DEMAND ? If that’s how things are done, then I DEMAND a million dollars.

I also bet these f*** want to change the name of “white city” too because its obviously a racist name that oppresses “non whites” Or you know, there a hundreds of various “white city” places around the globe, and was named after the Worlds Fair where thousands of light bulbs glowing created a “White city”. I guess light bulbs are racist.

Plantation has connotations that reach far beyond colonialism in the US, or even British/Dutch/Portuguese colonialism. I have a problem with “Plantations” but only because monoculture is a JOKE!…..If these f*** would use their time to help tutor, nurture, or befriend at risk youth and aid in their development towards being active civilians then they might actually make a difference. If they gave their time to Worcester programs and charities that have direct benefits they might help. Instead they want to jump on PC bandwagon and do sophomoric trendy things that require them doing what they do daily, posting trash on facebook and not doing real community work. This is not Kentucky with “Little Negro” lane, village and creek. Offensive/in-properly named roads/parks/etc is a real thing and a real problem nation wide. I don’t see this as one of those examples

WTF are these hippies complaining about now ?! There housing is FREE , there food is FREE , FREE Daycare for all 15 children that they each have , and oh what ,, FREE cell phones cause that’s important to live ! STOP sitting at home all fuckin day thinking of ways to blame anyone ,but yourselves , for the way your lives turned out . Get a JOB !!
I wish I could wake up tomorrow and not have shit to do , and all my bills paid for, I’d probably buy some of those weed pajamas wacky Wanda owns …… But guess what… I would never do that shit because i was raised better than that ! And because those pajamas are hideous !!
