Pretty tragic story out of Princeton:
Princeton Police are investigating an apparent homicide after a woman was found dead Sunday night. The body of Vanessa Marcotte, 27, was found around 8:20 p.m. in a wooded area off off Brook Station Road. Police launched a search Sunday night after Marcotte was reported missing by her family. Marcotte was said to either be walking or jogging along Brook Station Road Sunday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. before she went missing.
Marcotte grew up in Leominster, and was about a half-mile from her mother’s house, where she was visiting, when she disappeared. Marcotte was an account manager for Google in New York City. According to an official, she was a 2011 honors graduate of Boston University. Police said a preliminary investigating Marcotte’s body leads investigators to believe this was a homicide. Police said they do not know if this was a random act. They ask residents to use “an abundance of caution.”
This is all pretty insane. Princeton has to be one of the quietest towns around here. It kind of scares me though, especially at night, because there’s no lights and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. But this was broad daylight. If you’re not safe going for a jog in Princeton in broad daylight on a Sunday, then where are you safe?
With the limited information that’s been released it seems like Vanessa Marcotte was the most innocent of the innocent. She’s obviously gorgeous, smart, successful, and comes from a good home. We’re also getting reports that her body was badly burned and she was sexually assaulted. Whoever did this should get an eye for an eye. No doubt about it.
I have a hard time believing that she got herself involved in anything dangerous. Either she was murdered by someone she knew, who knew she was home from New York and plotted this whole thing out, or this was a random act of violence. Unfortunately we’d all be safer if it were the former. Because there isn’t anything more dangerous than some psychopath driving around the Princeton-Holden area murdering joggers for fun.
Anyway, we’ll await more details on this, just as everyone will. But back when Jorge Zambrano murdered Ron Tarentino in cold blood, we knew who the killer was before anyone else and reported it. Because people trust us and can give us information that the mainstream media cannot report. So if you are someone who has ANY sort of information on this, please don’t feel afraid to reach out to us. Everything will remain anonymous. This includes police officers and people with inside knowledge. A lot of the stuff we got with Zambrano came directly from police officers on the scene in Rochdale. Let’s hope that Vanessa Marcotte’s killer gets the same outcome that Jorge Zambrano did.

If this can happen to her in Princeton visiting for a few days,it could just as easily have been one of us turtle riders,or turtle riders kids. Always be aware of your surroundings. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
It scares me when things like this happen to these little towns so close to home. A lot like the Molly Bish case… I hope & pray they find this evil person & it doesn’t turn into another one of Massachusetts’ unsolved mysteries… Prayers for everyone involved, truly heartbreaking.

I normally love everything you blog but I think people with any information should report it to the police. This is not about the next big story or who reports it, it’s about the murder of a woman.
I have to completly agree with this comment. anyone who has information should be calling the police not a blogger. you will get your information to report once the police release that information. you don’t want to mess up the investigation just so you can be the first to report it.

I think this was a random act from a very sick person who is capable of doing this again and soon. I believe we have a potential serial killer on our hands given the brazen nature of burning the body. I do not believe this was a spurned lover or anything like that. I pray for Vanessa’s family. This is the most wanton crime that has ever happened in Princeton by a long-shot. Please stop this monster because he will do this again. Hind and quarter this animal when you catch him. He should be deleted from existence.
Judging by the short biography the news gave Vanessa was a smart, ambitious, and wonderful person. She was taken from this earth by evil.

This is why I don’t jog anymore. For all I know crazy BobnMic is going to jump out of the woods. This is why I recommend pepper spray. It won’t guarantee they won’t try again as a 9mm will but you have to take the mentally challenged card into place and hope they get proper treatment on release.

Wow. This is such a tragedy. I can’t imagine the pain this family is suffering. Having no answers is the hardest part for them. Any parent wants to know the “who, what, when, where, and why” and not being able to understand any of it is only going to make that grief more intense. I hope whoever did this gets caught and I hope it happens soon.
