For the last month all we’ve heard from social justice warriors is how brave Colin Kaepernick is for taking a kneel to protest systematic oppression of black people by white cops. And we’ve also been reminded that Colin Kaepernick does have the right to kneel during the National Anthem because the First Amendment grants him that privilege. And these people are absolutely right – he does have the right to do so. The government cannot stop him from making these statements.
However, at the same time the San Francisco 49ers and/or the NFL can make him stop. They just don’t want to because they’re afraid of the SJW blowback. Because shitting on cops during the National Anthem is brave. If you don’t want one of your employees doing this then you’ll be called racist. And no one wants to be called racist.
However, if you choose to use your First Amendment rights to criticize rioters and criminals you will be disciplined. Especially if what you’re saying it true and hurts people’s feelings. Seattle Mariners backup catcher found that out the hard way when he was suspended without pay for the rest of the season for tweeting this stuff about the Charlotte riots:
He knew the shitstorm was coming and he even issued a bullshit apology. The Seattle Mariners have every right to suspend him for the rest of the season for saying this. The First Amendment only protects you from government censorship. But the real double standard here is that this guy and Colin Kaepernick are both backups who said controversial things about the state of race relations in this country. One guy loses his livelihood and the other makes it onto the cover of Time Magazine. Makes sense.
Just for the record, the “protesters” are animals. Human beings don’t do stuff like this:
Savages do. How dare this man point out the truth!!! Doesn’t he know that we’re supposed to rely on the false narrative that the mainstream media wants us to believe? This is just oppressed people expressing themselves with a ceremonial highway blockade and burning of the tractor trailers.
Then there’s this post from Cleveland Brown’s Isaah Crowell:
He was suspended for the rest of the season without pay too. LOL. Just kidding. Nothing happened because you can post pictures of cops being decapitated on your social media page and not be suspended for it. You just can’t call people who are lighting cop cars on fire “animals,” or criticize the President of the United States.
ESPN and the mainstream media have pointed out this double standard as well. Oh wait, no they didn’t. Instead they said that he deserved it:
What Clevenger didn’t realize is the extent to which he was proving Kaepernick’s point — and, perhaps more importantly, the extent to which he was proving Kaepernick’s detractors wrong. Here you have a white player aggressively criticizing on-the-ground protesting by implying it’s too loud, while in the same breath criticizing a silent protest by a fellow athlete.
No. Just no. All he did was criticize the stupidity of Kaepernick’s followers by pointing out that they’re a bunch of assholes who burn shit first and ask questions never. Because it’s been proven through dashcam footage that Keith Scott had a gun on him, not a book as was originally stated by his insane family.
That must be a book holster for his 9mm Hemingway. Definitely worth rioting over. This is a very legitimate cause that Colin Kaepernick is fighting for!!
I’m not saying what Steve Clevenger wrote was “brave.” But I am saying that it’s a lot braver than what Kaepernick did. Because everyone knows that if you take a PC stance like Kaepernick did, you will be called brave and you’ll probably end up winning an ESPY. But if you do what Clevenger did everyone will call you a racist and you’ll probably lose your job. That’s not a smart thing to do, but it certainly takes more balls than what Colin Kaepernick is doing. Just sayin.
At the end of the day the lesson here is simple – you can have opinions, they just have to fall in line with generally accepted SJW ideology. If Steve Clevenger was good at baseball he’d be forced to give a bullshit apology and donate money to black lives matter. After all, his team still has an outside shot of making the playoffs for the first time in forever. But since he’s just a sucky backup like Kaepernick they can afford to release him. Here’s hoping the Union isn’t run by PC bro-hards and actually stands up and does something about the fact that one of their members just got robbed because he shared an opinion on a current event that the Mariners ownership didn’t approve of.
