Melissa Click, the University of Missouri communications professor who garnered widespread scorn for trying to physically remove a student reporter from a campus protest, was formally charged with assault Monday morning.

A spokeswoman for the Columbia Prosecutor’s Office said Click was being charged with third degree assault, a class C misdemeanor that carries a possible 15-day jail sentence

Click was caught on video calling for “some muscle” to remove a student reporter from an area on the university’s flagship campus where protesters had gathered. The protests eventually led to the resignation of University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe and Mizzou Chancellor R. Bown Loftin. Click, however, remains as an assistant professor in the Department of Communications.

There it is ladies and gentlemen. Proof that the government from time to time actually does the work of the people. It’s a joke that this woman still has a job. She works for a taxpayer funded University, therefore she is accountable to the public. She needs to be arrested for assault because that’s exactly what she did. The second she made the cameraman fear for his safety by calling for “muscle” is the second she was guilty of of crime.

A lot of people lost their jobs for no reason in this whole debacle. The President of the University was forced to resign because he didn’t do enough to make kids feel better about their hurt feelings. Never mind that almost all of the allegations of imaginary racism were fabricated by overprivileged, butthurt college students. Never mind that the whole hunger strike was led by the son of a multi-millionaire, who was hidden for his 8 day hunger strike, probably because he was eating hot pockets the whole time.

Oh yea, and lets not forget that she was literally BEGGING for the media to come down and pay attention to her stupid protest about nothing:

Oops!!

But the University never fired this woman. She resigned from her “courtesy appointment” at the Journalism school. This was a position that paid nothing and meant nothing. It would be like if Turtleboy Sports fired our editor. The net loss would be negligible. She’s still a professor of communications and journalism at Mizzou, which still pays 100% of her salary. And she’s still being paid to teach a class about why you’re sexist if you don’t like 50 Shades of Grey. And the University wrote a letter backing her:

“We believe that her actions on November 9 constitute at most a regrettable mistake, one that came, moreover, at the end of several weeks during which Click served alongside other faculty and staff as an ally to students who were protesting what they saw as their exclusion from and isolation at the University,” it said.

See that? All they’re doing is validating her actions. She was acting “as an ally to students.” She just got a little carried away, organized a student revolt, threatened another student with phsyical harm repeatedly, denied several people their first amendment rights and in doing so trampled on the Constitution. Everyone makes mistakes.

LOL. You know what a regrettable mistake is? Saying something dumb once. But this woman followed the kid around with the camera for 12 minutes of that video, repeatedly using dumbass students as a physical barrier to keep this kid from exercising his right to report on a public protest on a public campus.

On top of that, she was basically the general. She wasn’t just acting as an “ally” for students. She was the one using the students as soldiers by manipulating them with her dumbass world view. As you can see in the video, she CLEARLY is in charge, and is directing students to form a blockade wall to keep out this one particular camera man:

You know what the best part about this is? No students are coming to her defense. Ya know, because she has white privilege so she doesn’t need their help now. And we’ve scoured the Twitter machine looking for ANYONE supporting her in the face of these charges. Can’t find any. But you can bet your bottom dollar if this was a black professor facing charges, there would already be hunger strikes supporting her. So at the end of the day she did all this and put her own ass on the line for a bunch of spoiled, privileged students of all colors who could give a fuck less about her.

How do you like them apples Missy?

The fact of the matter is that colleges simply can’t be trusted to police themselves anymore. Worcester State University continues to employ Sonya Conner, even after she was convicted in court last week of blockading Kelley Square. As a Worcester State grad I’m disgusted by her, and sent an email to her and her boss (the department chair of sociology at Worcester State):

I am a graduate of Worcester State and I am writing you because of some alarming things that one of your professors, Sonya Conner, has been saying. As you may know, she was recently found guilty in Worcester District Court after leading a blockade of Kelley Square. She is certainly entitled to her opinions, but when she violates the personal freedoms of others, this is crossing the line.
Two weeks ago she appeared on a Youtube video, explaining why she is facing these charges. It is alarming that she thinks that she is being prosecuted for saying “black lives matter” when she is being charged with blocking a major intersection and creating a serious public safety issue. I cannot believe that students are expected to learn from someone (in criminal justice classes no less) who is so ill informed about the responsibilities that come along with free speech.
Here is a link to a blog published about her recent video interview:
During the interview she says that she should be able to blockade a street because she doesn’t believe in “laws or policies.” She is a “free person” and should be able to move about how she sees fit.
It is embarrassing for me as a WSU graduate to tell people I went to school there. This is the type of person who has become the face for the University. Do you want to be associated with this sort of anarchy and criminality? Because that’s what she is. She is a criminal awaiting trial who is refusing to take responsibility for her lawlessness.
I would appreciate hearing your thoughts and thank you for your time. If we do not hear back from you will take from this that you are complicit in her illegal behavior. You have now been made aware of these things, if you were not already, and we expect action on your part. Her behavior is disgusting, unbecoming, illegal, and worst of all she represents our great school.

We still have not heard back from them. The department head’s email is aguevara@worcester.edu. Feel free to shoot him an email and CC sconner@worcester.edu. Their silence is basically an endorsement of her behavior. Sorry, but Worcester State and Missouri can’t be considered a real colleges as long as it employs jokes like Sonya Conner and Missy Click.

P.S. Missy Click is one of my new favorite internet memes:

Turtleboy has an editor!? Coulda fooled me.

Also, you should stick to local stories. TB’s strength comes from its position as a local blog, and you do yourself a disservice by commenting on things that you don’t have context for. Stay in context! The further you stray, the more partisan you appear.

I do not care about any of this shit.
I used to hate the people who were like “this is a sports blog talk about sports” but now I get it.

“She’s still a professor of communications and journalism at Mizzou, which still pays 100% of her salary.”

Did you read the article in italics that you posted? She is only an associate professor of communications now. The pulling of her courtesy appointment removed her completely from the journalism school.

Jesus H. Christ Click’s box must be filled with dust and cobwebs. Boom boom doesn’t have a box. She is all big butt and un-pretty yoga pants and lacking a clue to simple life. And yet they are still employed and shape collegiate young minds. How disturbing…

I don’t understand what their vaginas have to do with anything. I mean, they’re both yahoos but why would you bring up their genitalia?
