In case you haven’t heard the good news yet, the Turtleboy Sports Revolution has acted as the catalyst for the government to investigate one of the most fraudulent organizations known to mankind – Mosaic Cultural Complex. After we started exposing the gross malfeasance of this “organization,” which collects hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money and gives back nothing in return, GoLocalWorcester and now the Telegram have finally picked it up. Luckily the only person on the City Council who seems to give a shit, Michael Gaffney, will be asking for a full audit at tomorrow night’s City Council meeting

The best part about this is that it has to be voted on by the City Council. Because for whatever reason, when an elected official wants to know how the city is spending money it requires a vote. But it’s kind of a good thing because it’s gonna force a lot of these fence sitters, like Kate Toomey, Tony Economou, and George Russell, to pick a side. Are you with the good guys or the bad guys? No more saying “everyone’s doing a great job.” It’s a yes or not vote.

Here’s a line from the Telegram article that we agreed was pretty bullshit:

In emailed answers to questions about his motivations for putting the item on Tuesday’s agenda, Mr. Gaffney said that after reading in multiple media sources and hearing countless voters inquiring about “the Mosaic,” he felt it was in the best interest of the city and the organization “to simply clear the matter up once and for all.”

Ummmm, why the hell would the Telegram need to know his “motivation?” Ya see what they did there? Turtleboy Jr. Gazette is trying to get him to admit that he’s only doing this because of the TBS Revolution. But since when does an elected official have to explain why he is asking what taxpayer’s money is going towards? Ummmm, because he was elected to represent the people? Yea, that might be it.

I wonder what Mosaic leader Brenda Jenkins had to say about this, now that she can clearly see that her gravy train is coming to an abrupt halt:

Brenda Jenkins, co-founder and director of Mosaic, declined requests to be interviewed. She has been outspoken over the past year in calling for social change and opposing things like an increased police presence at North High School. In December, sparked by the events that unfolded in Ferguson, Missouri, after the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown, hundreds of city college students marched from across the city to Mosaic’s Piedmont Street headquarters, where Ms. Jenkins spoke.

Boom. No comment. For a woman who never shies away from sharing her thoughts on how racist the Worcester Police are, or how bad cops would be at a lawless high school, she sure has he tongue tied now!!

The best part is how Mosaic is doing everything in it’s power to make sure you believe that Mosaic is NOT the same thing as the Henry Lee Willis Center. After all, being associated with an organization that was shut down by the state, after a Boston Globe investigation found out that they owed millions of dollars, and had misappropriated funding for years:

She said Mosaic, founded in 2005, is not a spinoff of the Henry Lee Willis Center. In regards to Mr. Gaffney’s concerns about the fiscal sponsorship of Mosaic, Ms. Coy said that in 2010 Mosaic, in partnership with Henry Lee Willis, UMass Medical School, Dr. Harvey Claremont and others, secured funding from the state Department of Public Health to convene a coalition to address health disparities among men of color. Mosaic formed the Men’s Health Alliance; the Willis Center served as the fiscal agent at the time.

When the Willis Center was dissolved, the DPH assigned a new lead agent to the contract to allow Mosaic to continue. The Men’s Health Alliance implemented the Barbershop Health Network as that agent. Ms. Coy described the Barbershop Health Network as a program of Mosaic’s that is a “cross-sector collaboration that currently involves dozens of partners.”

Yea, Mosaic is NOT a spinoff of the Henry Lee Willis Center. They just happen to do business with the same exact people and had a working relationship for years before the state caught onto all the fraud.

The other day we wrote about how disgusting and embarrassing it is that the South High School football team had to beg for money with a GoFundMe. After all, they are a public school and should be receiving adequate tax revenue. So how can the city of Worcester justify this, with our property taxes already being insanely high?

City spokesman John Hill said in an emailed response that Mosaic is one of the city’s 11 partners in the state-funded Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund. He said Mosaic’s charge as one of the partners was for services related to hypertension for vulnerable populations and people who would not ordinarily seek out treatment. The grant contracts with Mosaic to provide chronic disease self-management program classes, as well as self-monitoring blood pressure education through referrals from clinical partners, Mr. Hill said in the email.

Oh I see. So basically what “city spokesman” (because we definitely NEED one of those) is saying, is that grant money is better spent helping people find medical treatment who aren’t asking for medical treatment. I’d LOVE nothing more than to read some success stories about people whose lives have been saved by this program because of Mosaic.

But I don’t see that. Whenever Mosaic is making headlines it’s because of stuff like this

and this

Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 11.03.42 AM Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 11.03.58 AM

and this

So the poor kids at South High School don’t have uniforms, tackling dummies, equipment for practice, or the other basic requirements of a football team. But who gives a shit right? Because we’re tossing TONS of cash at Mosaic Cultural Complex so they can do stuff like this:

Here’s one thing we can guarantee you – the hippies will be at the city council meeting tomorrow night. This is the shit they live for. They’ve run this city for too long, so now is your chance tomorrow night to speak on it. They’ll be up there calling Mike Gaffney a racist and shitting on Turtleboy Sports. It’s science. So if you’re sick of being called racist simply because you don’t want your tax money going directly to people who illegally shut down your streets, and you would rather see public school programs be adequately funded, this your big opportunity to stick it to the hippies. The meeting starts at 6 PM. Don’t let geniuses like Jenna Knight control the conversation:

Hey everyone, check out this article on the front page of the T&G:

I wonder how many hippies will have to get jobs to overcome this terrible blow to their current means of support.

(Yes, I know that there are some people who truly deserve disability payments, but I’m also sure there are a lot of people getting money they don’t deserve.)

I hate that I can’t be there. I’m a former hippie, and can blend in well with their ilk. Unbeknownst to them, they have no idea who they are standing next to.

What’s the big deal? I’ve been audited twice on my personal taxes and go through internal audits every year at work. It’s a pain but all you do is provide records which are easy to get if you’re on the up and up. Aside from lost time nothing bad comes of it. I expect to be audited.

I’d be there. But, unlike Joyce and Old Balls, I know that the workings of the government of the city of Worcester aren’t my business. Since I don’t live in Worcester.

Like Varys in Game of Thrones, I hope that TB’s little birds will be on site to document and record.

    Little turtles? Hatchlings?

Prepare to be intimidated and threatened by people who will demand answers from you. This is what ignorant people do when they have no argument. Make sure there are some police there, too. I’m in California – wish I could be there!

Holy Cow, I feel sorry for those people in need of help from her.

    Typical hippy logic

Although I think its awesome I see this being similar to the flag burning law (which is a crime) before my freedom of speech people attack me under 5-51-207 desecration of a flag) in which the cops ask them to move or give them an ROR (released upon own recognizance) aka court appearance ticket. But then again I’m only law Florida law school grad and not a MA attorney so I may be wrong depending on the jurisdictions previous findings

This will probably become a whitewash of the actual situation, but I’m still glad someone is turning over the rocks to see what sort of slimy creatures are hiding underneath. Plus, once an issue gets attention from the press, it lives forever online. (I hope the term “whitewash” is not taken as a racist slur, because it’s not meant that way!)

There are too many racist blogs for her to list? How about your favorite one then, dear?

Don’t put her on the spot, like that. Be kind.
