If you like free speech and want to support what we’re doing, feel free to donate to the Turtle fund:
Hey fam – if you’d like to support Turtleboy and what we do here, feel free to hit the donate button at the top. We basically have to run this site like a Bernie Sanders campaign now since we’ve been blacklisted by Google and Facebook, due to the fact that rabid SJWs keep reporting our posts. Getting blacklisted by Google is a death sentence for most websites, since it’s much harder to monetize. And we all know the damage Facebook has done. We’re never going to stop fighting for free speech, but in the meantime the best way for turtle riders to fight back is to donate to the cause. Without you people none of this is possible. We love you all.
Here’s your latest example of SJW insanity courtesy of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley:
The Rao’s Coffee Shop located inside Williston Library closed their doors indefinitely on Monday, Sept. 17. The disruption of service is due to an alleged incident in which the cafe’s manager used racially insensitive language when speaking to cafe employees. Student employees were concerned with the manager’s conduct in the cafe and reported their experiences to Mount Holyoke’s Vice President for Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Kijua Sanders-McMurtry. Soon after, Rao’s Coffee Roasting Company closed the cafe, leaving student employees unsure whether they would be returning to work.
Stop right there. This expensive private school has an “
Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Office,”which not only has a president, it also necessitates a vice president. Evidently it’s her job to be there when students come crying to her about perceived racial incidents on campus, because the President is too busy tending to microaggressions on campus. Oh wait, that’s her job too:
Not sure what the President does then.
Anyway, let’s see what happened in this particular racial incident…
The incident in question, according to multiple Rao’s student employees, took place on Sept. 6 and involved an employee playing music in the cafe which included profane language. This was against the established rules which the manager had expressed to the employees, and the manager reminded them of this rule. While reminding the employees, the manager reportedly said that music including then n word was not allowed. According to student employees, while the manager explained this, she used the n-word aloud in its entirety. Later recounting the incident, the manager used this language again, according to several employees.
You gotta be shitting me. The manager hears her employees playing rap music too loud that contains the n word. She tells them they cant play music that contains the n word, except instead of saying “n word” she says the actual n word, just to make it clear that the n word is not allowed. This can’t be real. Students can blast music using the n word, but the manager can’t tell them why she objects to it.
It got more traumatic….
Eight of Rao’s student employees sent an email to Sanders-McMurtry, bringing the situation to her attention. On Sept. 14, Sanders-McMurtry mediated a conversation between the student workers and the manager, although for some students, the meeting was not satisfactory. Then, on Sunday, Sept. 16, the student employees received a text message from their manager saying that she would be coming into the coffee shop the next day. This message surprised the students and some reported feeling uncomfortable with the manager returning to campus. They reached back out to Sanders-McMurtry who then relayed these concerns to the manager and to Rao’s upper management.
Wait….what? These triggered little EMPLOYEES who were reprimanded for playing racially insensitive music, got a sit down mediation with their manager which they determined was not “satisfactory,” and then feigned outrage when their manager had the audacity to attempt to continue to go to work. Makes sense.
According to students, after Sanders-McMurtry contacted Rao’s Coffee Roasting Company, the manager was banned from campus and fired by Rao’s. Sanders-McMurtry said in a statement to the Mount Holyoke News: “We believe strongly in the values of restoration in the work of diversity, equity and inclusion thus the situation had a different outcome than we wanted for everyone involved. But, ultimately our focus on diversity means that we have a responsibility to every member of our community but especially our students to live the ideals we tout on paper in the daily implementation of policies and practices.”
Fired and banned from campus. Seems reasonable.
Here’s the best part – without a manager all the employees lost their jobs and the business shut down:
On Monday, Sept. 17, students said they were notified by Gail Flood, the vice president of Rao’s Coffee Roasting Company, that the cafe would be “shut down” as of 2:30 p.m. Student employees were shocked by this, because they had expected Rao’s to fill the open management position.
“We reported it, hoping it would be possible to replace [the manager], not thinking it would result in the termination of our positions,” said Violet Gehr ’19, who worked at Rao’s for three years.
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!! Can you say, Karma? Seriously, a basic Becky named Violet is blasting rap music filled with the most offensive word in the English language. That’s totally NOT racist of her. But then the manager asks her to stop playing music with the n word, she runs and cries to the VP of buzzwords, gets a “mediation” with her, and whines when she loses her job. This is fantastic.
But wait, there’s more people with hyphenated last names employed by Mount Holyoke who tried to crush this blatant racism….
That same day, in a campus-wide email, Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of LITS Alex Wirth-Cauchon, wrote, “In our ongoing efforts to implement the practice of restorative justice — which focuses on education with the goal of reconciliation between all parties — we recommended bias training for the manager, who was receptive. Nonetheless, the mediation revealed prior incidents of longstanding concern and was ultimately unsuccessful.”
They wanted to force the manager to take bias training for asking employees not to play music with offensive words in it. Can’t make this stuff up.
Isabel Crane ’19, another Rao’s employee, wrote on Facebook Monday night, “Instead of developing a new management system, Rao’s employees were notified about 45 minutes ago of our immediate (perhaps permanent) dismissal of our positions. So if you’re wondering why there’s no London Fog for you tonight, this is the reason. Regardless if Rao’s reopens, I will no longer be working here.”
Imagine how privileged and sheltered of a Becky you’d have to be to try to get someone fired, who more than likely is using that job to earn a living, and then whining that you lost a job where you worked 6 hours a week making lattes.
The trauma is real…..
How will all these basic white chicks ever recover from this horrifying ordeal?
Anyway, all of our personal accounts are suspended for 30 days. So if turtle riders want to post a link to this blog on the Mount Holyoke News’ Facebook page, feel free to do so.
