Talk about taking a wrong turn! This poor naive out-of-towner from the Bible Belt ended up in beautiful New Bedford and mistook it for a city where you could actually do things like walk down the street alone.
According to newbedfordguide.com – Last night at approximately 9pm officers were dispatched to the area of Coffin Ave. and Acushnet Ave. regarding an armed robbery. The victim, a 34 year old North Carolina man, was walking down the street when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect opened a pouch and showed the victim what appeared to be a firearm and demanded his money.
The suspect ended up taking the victim’s money, wallet, credit cards, and cell phone. With the assistance of the gang unit, officers were able to track down the suspect to a 3rd floor apartment in the 200 block of Phillips Ave.
