Northborough Patch: There is a billboard that is visible from I-190 entering to I-290 west in Worcester that reads “We give Israel $10 million a day! That money could send our kids to college.”
A Worcester native now living in Northborough, Betsy Weiss recently called on fellow Facebook friends to “join me and repost this if you are disgusted as I am.”
“HORRIFYING, HATE MONGERING, BEYOND Antisemitic and, it’s in Worcester,” wrote Weiss on her Facebook page. “This is hate speech cloaked in free speech. Isreal is perhaps the only country in that strategic region that isn’t dedicated to killing Americans.”
Weiss told Patch she is surprised her post didn’t get “more of a reaction” than it did.
The billboard was paid for and posted by www.IfAmericansKnew.org, whose mission is “to inform and educate the American public on issues of major significance that are unreported, underreported, or misreported in the American media. It is our belief that when Americans know the facts on a subject, they will, in the final analysis, act in accordance with morality, justice, and the best interests of their nation, and of the world. With insufficient information, or distorted information, they may do the precise opposite.”
Oh great, more butthurt. First of all, let’s establish something right now. Being critical of a country of Jews isn’t the same thing as being antisemitic. That’s just dumb. Israel is a strong country with a strong military that is paid for by American taxpayers. That’s just a fact. But their government is run by the Israeli version of Dick Cheney and Ted Cruz and has been for years. And guess what? There are lots of Jews and Israelis who are…..wait for it…..wait for it……CRITICAL OF ISRAEL!!! Does that make these Jews traitors to their religion? No. It just makes them people with opinions. Being anti-Israel or critical of Israel does not mean that you’re anti-semitic.
With that said, America does spend a lot of money on foreign aid on Israel. More than any other country on earth actually. So what’s the problem? This billboard just spit out something that you could find on Wikipedia. More importantly, it’s free speech. Any political organization could rent space on that billboard. I’ve seen political candidates a million times before. So what’s the problem? Because you don’t like it? That’s why it shouldn’t be up there? Better get this woman a safe space!!!
Looking at this woman’s Facebook page we see stuff like this too:
Hold on. I get that this woman hates Trump, but does she not realize that Trump and every other Republican is like, 1000% pro-Israel? Does she not understand that Israel is surrounded by Muslim countries, filled with people who would like to wipe them off the face of the earth? Does she not realize that Israel’s immigration policies in regards to Muslims are a million times stricter than anything Donald Trump has ever proposed? Just wondering. Because it seems like anyone who would get this fired up about a billboard criticizing Israel would be all aboard the Trump train. Just sayin.
Based on other posts like this:
It’s obvious that she is a liberal. Which is fine. I just think it’s hilarious though, because generally it’s the left that is more sympathetic to Palestinians. One of her friends brought this to her attention:
How does not supporting Israel benefit the US? My question is, how does supporting them unconditionally benefit us? Seems to me like we get dragged into a lot of wars and spend a lot of money defending what is basically the 51st state. Look, we’re as pro-Israel as the next guy, but to say that it’s hate speech to suggest that we should keep writing another country blank checks makes zero sense.
Oh yea, and the organization that put it up – “IfAmericaKnew.org” – they’re as far left as you can possibly get. So basically Betsy Weiss is a 100% liberal, unless you’re talking badly about one of the most conservative countries on earth, because the people who live there are Jewish. Makes sense.
Hey Betsy, we’ve got a solution for you. Call the company who owns the billboard up and put your own “I love Israel” sign up there next month. Boom. Problem solved.
