After the 100 person brawl on Water Street outside of Mambo Drinks last week, City Manager Ed Augustus and Police Chief Steve Sargent held a meeting of concerned business owners in the Canal District. But at this meeting the City Manager made it clear that no one was allowed to bring up the ONLY problematic bar in that area which is killing all the other businesses – Mambo DrinksBecause Ed Augustus is a useless coward who is too afraid to do what is best for the small business owners in that area for fear of being labeled a racist.

“A few references were made to the 44 incidents recorded at Mambo in the two years it has been open – although City Manager Ed Augustus, Jr. – who was joined at the meeting by WPD Chief Steve Sargent, Planning Director Steve Rolle and City Councilors Candy Mero-Carlson, Moe Bergman, Khrystian King and Konnie Lukes – said that was an unfair number to throw around since it counts all calls made to a location and not just violations. Augustus said progress made in the Canal District was “awesome,” but said an uptick in incidents was to be expected because of that.”

After that the tone was set, and the Canal District Association’s gutless President and Vice President continued to pretend that Mambo is not the cause of the problems:

“It’s really going to take all of us to change it,” CDA President Mullen Sawyer said. “Perception has the chance to taint reality.”

CDA Vice President Ed Russo put his views simply. “It’s not just Mambo – sorry folks, let’s cut the shit,” Russo said.

Screen-Shot-2016-08-03-at-9.08.01-PM

And according to Mambo’s they should not be punished because the gang members outside of the club were preying on patrons as they walked outside of the bar. Except there’s only one problem – Turtleboy got ahold of the police report and it turns out Mambo Drinks is lying. Let’s check it out:

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.26.15 AM Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.26.23 AM

So 100-200 people in a crowd that would not be dispersed were beating each other up with weapons. Yup, that happens at normal bars all the time.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.21.26 AM

So they had over 200 people? Pretty sure that’s WAY over capacity for a joint that size. If there was ever a fire there we’d have a Warwick tragedy on our hands.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.21.33 AM

“Iverson had been at Mambo with his girlfriend.” Iverson is a 20 year old male. Another underage individual served at Mambo Drinks. But we can’t point that out because that would be racist.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.22.18 AM Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.23.20 AMScreen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.23.53 AM

This is the type of crowd that Mambo Drinks attracts. They are responsible for this. Don’t tell me that all of the other bars attract this crowd. Gangs have not taken over the Dive Bar. Patrons at Smokestack Barbecue are not pulling officers away from fights and actively interfering with arrests in order to protect gang bangers from New York.

“There were no other neighboring bars open on this night.”

Wait, a minute, I’m confused. Because at that meeting last week CDA VP Ed Russo said this:

“It’s not just Mambo.”

And President Mullen Sawyer said this:

“It’s really going to take all of us to change it.”

How can “all of us change it,” if only one bar was open that night? How was it “not just Mambo,” when Mambo was the ONLY BAR OPEN THAT NIGHT???!!!! Oh that’s right, Ed Russo is just a gigantic poonstachio who is too scared of being labeled a racist to tell the truth.

201855_104922879591978_3232510_o

He also owns the new Lock 50 restaurant, which features overprices organic yuppie food. Hopefully gang bangers like Shaved Asparagus and Goat Cheese Panna Cotta.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.25.03 AM

So Mambo Drinks is legally responsible for stabbings that take place outside of its business. Good to know. So why aren’t we allowed to point fingers at them? Oh yea, that’s right. Racism.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.25.27 AM Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 10.25.37 AM

Well this is knew. Mambo Drinks told us these gang members were waiting OUTSIDE of the club. Turns out they were in the club the entire time and getting drunk. This is the third person we’ve been able to prove in a week that has been served underage at Mambo Drinks. What else do you need to shut them down?

There was a license commission meeting this morning about this. It was determined that nothing will happen with Mambo Drinks. Ya got that? No punishment. This is what the fear of being called racist has done to our society.

Dude is 20 years old, in a bar, and is so wasted that he doesn’t know he was stabbed?

Clearly a coincidence! And it’s racist to draw that conclusion!

The cops should just set up a parameter around them, and let the cock roaches exterminate themselves.

In the good ole days, you could get 50 or so bikers to come rolling in and “counsel” Mambo on the benefits of behaving better.

Today’s T&G – “Referring to the temporary restrictions, License Commissioner Anthony Salvidio said, “This is a community solution, this is not any one operator’s obligation to solve. This is the area’s obligation to solve and come together and work together.” ”

“Not any one operator’s obligation to solve?” That has got to be the STUPIDEST thing I’ve ever heard. What kind of hack is this guy? He is sure missing the “public servant” idea. If the “operator” can’t solve this, then the ” License Commissioner” needs to solve it for him! No license for you!

“Mambo Drinks, located at 105 Water St., proposed the temporary restrictions in a letter to the city. The bar agreed to host only age 21 and over events, and to have at least two police officers present” – I thought bars normally don’t allow underage people anyway…at least “reputable” ones don’t.

Hey man what can you do? I have learned just now that people can be really awful. There is a dude I work with. He’s laid off right now but we were just talking on Facebook about it’s hard finding work. I just broke my ankle in Maine. So he starts confessing to me that he’s cheating on his wife with a chick we work with. Dude, really? Come on man, classical messed up “sex at work” situation. He’s telling me he regrets it, but then he keeps talking about the girl we work with. He is confusing the shit out of me. I guess he told me his wife found out he was cheating and now they are on the border of divorce. Holy Mary mother of God…. Pray for his sins!

This is why I hate people. They pretend to be nice, but then they do such horrible things to the people they love. Same notion with the people you talk about BobnMic. They want their cake and want to eat it too, not going to happen!!! There can only be one winner!

Clarification without hopefully sounding like excuse making:

The detail officer’s job is an overseer of most operations focused primarily on the safety of the existing patrons currently there. The onus of overcrowding falls initially and exclusively on door staff and management. It is nearly impossible for one single detail officer to turn his/her back on the action in an effort to start counting heads. And imagine if that were to be the scenario then a fight breaks out whereas the officer’s head or his/her back was turned counting fucking heads that the staff and management should be doing. And then someone gets hurt during a major donnybrook. That would be a problem for the detail officer. The Cops that work those jobs are smarter than that. How can a detail Cop answer their supervisors question, “Where were you when that big brawl happened at the front Door?” The Cop, “Oh – I was counting heads at the back of the bar because the bouncers and management won’t do it so I didn’t know what was happening at the front door.”

No No No and more No – it simply does not work that way. No way. The detail Cop is not there to do the staff’s job for them. They are there to function in an “Umpire of Referee” capacity (to use a sports reference if you will) and if necessary escort trouble out and/or arrest trouble. Now look, there are 2 things that the detail officer could have done at Mambo that night and there is no evidence to suggest that he/she did not do any of the following:

      1. Alert the WPD License Bureau via radio. That unit usually works late hours toward the weekends then request an “on scene inspection” of the establishment and they will send in two or three investigators to check operating licenses and count heads. My understanding is that this big fight incident was on an odd night and not during the weekend. So that changes the approach of the detail officer to do,

      2. Make a detail report, as shown here on previous posts, requesting assistance from the WPD License Bureau to respond to the establishment, verify the maximum capacity aloud as stated on Mambo’s liquor license which should by law be prominently displayed usually behind the bar in plain view and,

      3. For the love of God, request a second detail Cop. Get together with the security staff and management, train them on the dos and don’ts and just tighten up the disorganization that you can control. If ownership will not cooperate then you document all of your efforts and suggestions then drag them back before the City’s Liquor License Commission. So now what happened you just put the ball in their court (with a BIG CYA and documentation) unlike previously and I guarantee the place will suffer to some degree. Cannot predict the outcome at that stage.

= How am I aware of this you ask? I’ll never divulge. Maybe someday when I sign off for good I spill the beans but for those very few little feeble minded pains in the asses on here (like the ones with more than six different screen names here that fuck with everybody) I say this to you – if you ever did know you would shit your fucking pants on how wrong you were LOL = Peace.

Weew – just checking back in here. A lot of anti – Worcester Police I see here. Well to you naysayers, when the dust settles, and eventually it will, notice who will be the ones in law enforcement making it happen and will bring calm and trust to all in every community. YUP – your Worcester Police Department.

Did you know that back then in the early 90s right after the Rodney King in L.A. incident that then WPD Chief Edward P. Gardella was one of the countries pioneers on the concept of community policing? This was over 25 years ago. The concepts that Chief Gardella implemented became a model for the entire country started right here from Worcester.

Somewhere somehow that whole idea of community policing got watered down when leaders like Chief Gardella retired and was replaced by those with not so much the same ideals.

But now we are back. We have Worcester Police Chief Steven Sargent who has always, and is currently embodying the spirit of community partnership in an all effort to bring calm, civility and trust of all things toward all of our community and of all of our ethic and religious backgrounds.

Trust me. Worcester Police Chief Steven Sargent will fix this shit no doubt in my mind.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. The businesses in that area should pack up their stuff and move the hell out in protest. There’s other less sketchy areas in the city to set up shop at which I’m sure would appreciate your business. I know it’s frustrating since there’s a lot of new establishments that opened up shop there, but are you really going to constantly risk your safety and well being? It’s obvious that the city government is going to ignore you because they still hold onto the delusion of making the Canal District some kind of prime renaissance destination. So the ends will pretty much justify any means.
