Today the trial for the Kelley Square 4 began, as they attempt to prove to a judge why they were allowed to stand in traffic and block people from traveling freely. If for some reason you’ve never seen this video, here is all the evidence you really need to see:

Case closed. Guilty as charged. Julius Jones led the blockade:

Boom-boom was given away by her own junk in the trunk

Kevin Ksen stood creepily on the side in the shadiest trench coat ever, bothering a young child and forcing him to cover his ears:

And then threatened the driver with his fists up

The reason doesn’t matter. How people reacted doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that you’re not allowed to block the road and they did anyway.

I got all juiced up today when I saw this headline from Masslive:

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 3.51.47 PM

Amazing. They cost the truck driver his job? Perfect. This story literally couldn’t be any better. Not that it matters if he lost his job, because it’s not like it’s only illegal if someone loses their job. But it just makes them seem like such bigger assholes.

Screen Shot 2015-11-11 at 10.29.52 AM

Here’s the thing though – something didn’t seem right. According to Masslive, the driver, Bruce Davis, said the following on the stand:

“I don’t have a problem with the movement, I have a problem with the way they go about doing things,” said Erickson. “I believe all lives matter. I’m not prejudiced, but I think there’s a better way.”

While Davis said he didn’t care about the protest, he did say he honked his horn repeatedly to “drown out” the protesters.

“I didn’t want to hear it, nobody else wanted to hear it,” Davis said.

unnamed

First of all, it is nothing less than a miracle, that when he said, “All lives matter,” Julius Jones’ head didn’t explode. When he hassled Hillary a couple months back, one of the things he told her was that “all lives matter” was a violent thing to say.

Secondly, I love how this guy admits that he honked his horn to shut them up. He should be given a medal for that. But here’s the problematic part:

Davis told the court he lost his job after being late to deliver what was in his truck. He said he was four hours late getting to Ohio because of the roughly five minutes he was delayed in Worcester’s Kelley Square.

Wait….what? I’m not a math expert, but how can a five minute delay make you four hours late on a trip that normally takes 12 hours? How did the prosecution not see this one coming? Did they not talk to this guy? Obviously he is lying, which just makes him look like a jamoke. He didn’t have to embellish it, all he had to do was say what we all saw on the tape:

The truck driver also told the court that one of the protesters, he identified as Gibbs, jumped onto his truck and was yelling at him.

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 4.13.12 PM

Exactly. Case closed.

Then of course this happened:

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 4.01.55 PM

Unreal. This slob got fired for something a month later that had nothing to do with this blockade, and now Hector Pineiro’s gonna have something to go on, in a case that should’ve been a slam dunk for the prosecution.

Meanwhile the other witness wasn’t much help either. Her name is Beth Erickson, and she decided to confess that she likes to make up imaginary black grandchildren to get through blockades:

Erickson told police she yelled back at the protesters, using obscenities, and lied to them to try and get through. She said she told them she was going to the hospital to visit her granddaughter.

“‘Would it matter to you if I told you my granddaughter was black?'” Erickson said she asked the protesters.

Defense attorneys asked both the drivers how close they got to the protesters, to which Erickson admitted coming within inches of the people standing in the road. Davis said he kept 10 feet away and denied driving at them.

Oh sweet baby Jesus. Did the prosecution just forget to talk to these idiots beforehand? Once again, it doesn’t change the fact that the defendants committed a crime. And since this is being decided by a judge and not a jury full of morons, it should still be an easy guilty. Luckily Hector Pineiro is making it easier by going with the “free speech” route:

[The protest] was consistent with a rich tradition of civil rights this country has,” Hector Piniero, Gibbs’ attorney, said. “Political speech will always inconvenience certain people who disagree with the content of the speech.”

No, political speech doesn’t always inconvenience “certain people” who disagree with the content of the speech. Because we have the option to ignore speech we don’t agree with. The problem was that these protesters didn’t give drivers the opportunity to ignore them. And if you let them blockade traffic for their cause, then the pro-lifers will be blockading next, followed by the anti-guns, followed by the pro-guns, followed by the anti-Obamacare, followed by the Global Warming. And a line will never be able to be drawn. The streets will be open to anyone who wants to blockade it.

The bottom line is it doesn’t matter what the witnesses said. Because we have video that shows the entire ordeal. They blockaded traffic, they disturbed the peace, and they are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

One gripe I have TB, is with the “4 hour late” thing. I am not claiming to be an expert on this guy’s route, but I am all too familiar with a Boston commute that is fucked by 2 hours if you leave 5 minutes late in either direction going to or coming from work. Rush hour is a bitch

I suppose it is possible the blockade could have totally gotten the guy stuck in crazy traffic. But I digress.

What I am wondering about that TB hasn’t stated yet, is whether or not Julius Jones wore his hoody to court… again LOL

Don’t think these 4 idiots are mad , because they are getting more than 15 minutes of fame. They have become local celebrities. This is kind of like the OJ trial and I can’t wait to see what happens next…..NOT!! That will be $150, pay the clerk on the way out.

The trucker and his lie doesn’t matter at all in this case …. the criminals are caught on tape committing the crime. I do agree the prosecutors are morons for even going there with this trucker and not confirming his lie.

Theoretically, a 5 minute delay could lead to a 4 hour delay down the road (especially on a long trip) if he just missed the clear traffic in another city on the way because of that 5 minutes. Its happened to me. I once left for a trip to Pennsylvania 15 minutes late which meant I hit the George Washington bridge traffic in NYC. I ended up about 1-2 hours behind schedule cause of it. Thankfully, I give myself extra time on long trips like that so I was ok, but it can happen. However, it is extremely unlikely (because of all the ways you can make up time on the road) and would be even harder to prove. And I doubt it would have been a 4 hour delay. An hour would have been believable.

I would love to see how these people would react to being blocked in traffic on their way to something important like standing in the middle of their own road

I see orange Julius dressed in his Sunday best. Pants hanging off his ass, can’t even stand up straight, and a dam hoodie? And people get pissed when cops profile. That’s exactly why. Total disrespect for the court. I don’t know the guy from a hole in the wall but he seems like an outstanding citizen.

It’s only a $150 fine since the judge decided to hear it and not a jury. Speaking of losses to the Mosaic wingnuts though; Worcester City Councilor Michael Gaffney cleared in campaign finance investigation into Turtleboy Sports payments
