NBC: A woman missing since August was found alive Thursday after deputies in South Carolina said they heard loud banging coming from a metal storage container on a rural property. Acting on a tip, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies discovered 30-year-old Kala Brown “chained inside the container like a dog,” Sheriff Chuck Wright told local NBC affiliate WYFF. The deputies were searching the grounds in Woodruff, just south of Spartanburg, in relation to a tip about a sex crime when they came across the disturbing scene. Brown told investigators she had been held in the container for two months with a chain around her neck. The metal container is 30 feet long, 15 wide and 10 to 12 feet high, Wright said.
Brown told authorities she had been held captive for two months. The owner of the property — identified as Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender — was charged with kidnapping, jail records show. A bond hearing was scheduled for Friday afternoon. Officials said other charges against him were also possible. Brown also told investigators about four bodies possibly buried on the property. A massive investigation was underway Thursday, and photos from the scene showed a backhoe being brought in.
Charlie Carver, Brown’s boyfriend, who disappeared around the same time, remains missing. Carver’s vehicle was found on Kohlhepp’s property during the search Thursday, according to a sheriff’s spokesman. The case attracted national attention several weeks later when mysterious postings began to appear on Carver’s Facebook page. The messages, which appeared after the two were reported missing, included statements that the couple was fine and had simply left on their own. Both Brown and Carver’s families believe his account had been hacked.
Couple things the article didn’t mention. Todd Kohlepp owns his own realty business:
And Kala Brown was one of his newest employees. What makes this story even more insane is Todd Kohlhepp’s Facebook page. Keep in mind, this woman has been missing since August. Here’s some posts he’s made while he had her chained up like a dog in his backyard:
What a fucking psychopath. You gotta be pretty fucked in the head to carry on like a normal person on Facebook when you know you have a human being chained like a dog in a container in your backyard. Ya know what the dead giveaway was about this guy? His name is Todd. If you’re named Todd you automatically have a much higher chance of being the subject of the next episode of Criminal Minds. All I can think of when I hear that name is this crazy mother fucker:
Todd from Breaking Bad. Easily the most fucked up character I’ve ever seen on any TV show.
But when Todd wasn’t telling people to stop looking for missing people he was lecturing his Facebook followers about respect:
So, what would Mom’s punishment be for chaining up a woman in your backyard?
And he was carrying on like HE was the normal one in a country full of wackjobs:
The guy owns almost 100 acres of land, and most of it was covered with bushes and other vegetation. This came up in conversation while he had the woman chained up:
In other words, he had the perfect piece of property for getting rid of bodies. And according to the victim, there are up to four dead people buried there. She told authorities that he may have buried them under gigantic boulders, which probably explains why he was posting stuff like this in September –
If you’re gonna be a serial killer, then don’t post about your crimes on Facebook. It’s chilling reading this stuff though. He was talking about getting all this dirt and doing all this work on his land under the guise that he was doing so in order to go dirt bike riding. But in reality he was burying his victims. What a tub of shit.
He also posted about how he would smash into any vehicle that straddled the double yellow lines:
And he offers unsolicited advice on how to pick up women:
Yea, if you want a woman then go buy a bunch of cat food. Or just kidnap them and chain them up like a dog in your backyard. Whatever’s easier.
Todd Kohlhepp is also an expert on ethics, and shouldn’t have to take any classes on the subject:
“Don’t be a dick.” Because locking someone up in your backyard is NOT being a dick. Very ethical.
Then there’s this:
Idolizing a brutal television murderer. Still might be better than Hillary.
The craziest part about this is how the guy was a sex offender (arrested at 16 on kidnapping charges), and he had access to people’s homes.
Lots of people’s homes too. Homes with kids that live there. He had the keys to all of them because he owned his own realty company. How do you not know you’ve hired a sex offender to sell your home? Shouldn’t that be the first thing they say to you? Because this face right here:
Is not what it seems.
Today they found one body buried underneath a bunch of gravel:
Probably not gonna be the last one they find either. They haven’t identified who it is yet, but more than likely the missing boyfriend is somewhere on his property. And more than likely Todd Kohlhepp used his phone to post to his Facebook page a couple months ago. Just shows that there’s no one you can really trust out there. Except for Turtleboy.
