This is why Worcester can’t have nice things:

image

Basically they want to prevent businesses on Shrewsbury Street from making too much noise because the crotchety old neighbors don’t like it. And this unelected three person license commission is entertaining the idea:

Sounds generated by licensed establishments in the city may not be plainly audible at a distance of 150 feet or more beyond the property boundary at any time; and sounds at the licensed establishments cannot be plainly heard at a neighboring house at a distance of 50 feet beyond the property boundary at a distance of 50 feet or more after 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and after 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

This was done in direct response to the economic growth of Shrewsbury Street. It’s by far the most successful part of Worcester. There isn’t a single bar or restaurant on that street that is too loud, therefore any sort of regulation on the noise they make is uncalled for, superfluous, and unnecessary.

But here’s our biggest beef with this:

Paul Giorgio, president of Pagio Inc., said the city’s restaurant and club scene is gaining attention across the state and the proposed rules would have a chilling effect on the expansion in the city. He questioned if outdoor dining would be the next thing to be banned if these new rules are approved as is.

“The ordinance in its present form gives the message that once again Worcester wants to be a sleepy town,” he said. “We live in a city. It’s time that people recognize that.”

Paul Giorgio.

Head of Worcester’s powerful gay mafia. A man who was accused of statutory rape against a young boy, and settled it by paying off the victim. A man who was convicted of voter fraud and received a sentence of probation. Shadiest guy ever.

Well, we happen to agree with Paul Giorgio on this issue, but here’s the thing – this is an issue BECAUSE of him. Here are the three people on this licensing board:

image

And who appointed these three to the board?

image

Oh that’s right. Ed Augustus, Worcester’s corrupt political hack politician of a City Manager. And who appointed Ed Augustus as City Manager? Oh that’s right, Joe Petty.

Screen-Shot-2015-12-04-at-11.47.41-PM

And who ran Petty’s re-election campaign? That would be Paul Giorgio. A guy who repeatedly warned us about all the bad things that would happen if Gaffney became Mayor.

So just to review. Paul Giorgio got Joe Petty elected. Joe Petty appointed Ed Augustus City Manager. Ed Augustus then appointed three people to the license commission who are trying to destroy businesses on Shrewsbury Street. And now Paul Giorgio thinks he can lead the charge against this.

Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 1.35.03 PM

Newsflash – this is happening as a direct result of Paul Giorgio, Joe Petty, and Ed Augustus being in bed together (no pun intended).

Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 1.33.46 PM

As a matter of fact, Paul Giorgio was one of the leading crusaders for GoLocalWorcester, pushing to get this unqualified stooge to be appointed permanent City Manager by the same guy he ran the mayoral campaign for:

Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 12.52.55 PM

So yea, if you are a business owner in Worcester getting screwed over by this, we feel for you. But we would highly suggest you stop supporting Paul Giorgio, because he did this to you.

Oh yea, and he’s also screwing you people over with the INSANE amount of money he shakes you down for to advertise in Pulse Magazine. That’s right, Paul Giorgio profits off of a worthless free magazine that they hand out at Shaws. And we know for a fact he shakes these people down, because many of our advertisers formerly advertised with him. When a news business opens up Paul Giorgio will be at their door on the first day, telling them “it would be in their best interest” to write him a check every month. He’s also told many of our advertisers the same thing – that he will use his influence with democratic politicians to screw them over if they advertise on Turtleboy.

Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 1.42.47 PM

But he knows damn well that the only thing people do when they open Pulse Magazine is open to the middle,

image

so they can see if they can find any of their friends being sloppy drunk last weekend. Then everyone throws Pulse Magazine in the recycling. Paul Giorgio knows that. Everyone who has ever picked up Pulse Magazine knows that. You only pick up a Pulse Magazine to see pictures from the bars (and he charges those bars more money to be featured of course). Yet he still charges small local businesses, many of which are on Shrewsbury Street, hundreds of dollars to be buried in there and never seen:

image

If these small businesses ever wanna be featured in a media outlet that actually cares about small businesses and will ensure that they are actually seen and get a return on their investment, we’d be honored to have them on board with Turtleboy. Until then they’re just throwing their hard earned money away on Paul Giorgio – a disgraced convicted criminal who supports politicians working against their best interest.

Oh yea, and he also got into it with InCityTimes once. Don’t get me wrong, InCityTimes is run by a completely mentally unstable Green Island skag. But this is what he threatened to do to her, and to the businesses who distributed her free newspaper, if she printed the story about him being accused of statutory rape:

“Beware: I will sue you and everyone who distributes your paper,” he told her in a voice mail she later played for a Telegram & Gazette reporter. “Every little store will be served with a lawsuit.”

Ya know who distributes her paper? Lots of local businesses. Paul Giorgio threatened to sue them all. This is a guy pretending that he cares about the well being of small business owners in Worcester.

We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.

I just don’t get it AT ALL!! While I constantly hear about “we need to have reasons to attract more people to Worcester”, all of these assburgers are trying to figure out ways to keep them OUT??!! WHEW…….Just a thought, and I may be “reaching” here- We should have a FREE TROLLEY to bring folks to “Restaurant Row” from the “FREE” parking area! C’mon Worcester pol hacks, you’ll really be complaining if these joints start folding ONE by ONE for lack of business. GIMME a BREAK ALREADY!!!!! Instead of all this negativity, why don’t you concentrate more on ways to clean up all the human pondscum floatin’ around our streets, making DECENT people afraid to go out and enjoy what our City has to offer????

As much as I support taking down the McGovern Crime Family, this battle needs to be focused on this frivolous noise ordinance. If it means backing this crustbucket Giorgio for a few weeks, so be it.
But his quote about sleepy town v. city Worcester is spot on. I’d appreciate knowing when the next meeting is where this issue will be discussed or voted upon. We need to come out in droves and support Shrewsbury Street business owners. That street is Worcester’s economic engine.
Pick your battles, TB. This one should be about aggressively pursuing the elimination of this noise ordinance.
McGov Crime Family is the war, this is a battle.

My concern is for the residents, many of them have been there for years…longer than the resgaurants and bars that now populate shrewsbury st. Why should they have to suffer?

What has TB sports become, the New York Post? National Enquirer? Some heavy reaching there TB. If one were to believe that this article is a puff piece for Gaffney, would they be wrong?

I don’t dislike you by any means, but I’m curious and will ask, do you enjoy any articles on here? I know I have seen a few comments that agree, but not many.

I call them as I see them! Don’t care much for thinly veiled political pandering, but I do agree on occasion with some of the blogs.

Is the general logic of this article supposed to be – Giogio was hired by Petty to run his campaign. Petty appointed/hired Augustus (done before Petty hired Giorgio). Augustus appointed this License Commission (again, before Giorgio was hired by Petty but after Petty hired Augustus), and this Commission is considering a ruling that somehow harms Giorgio. But Giorgio is a hypocrite because he was hired to helped get Petty elected after all these various people were appointed/hired? On what planet does that make any sense? I’m fairly certain we still live in the United States and private citizens are entitled to have their own opinions…

I’ve never read this “In City” paper, and they all sound like a bunch of crooks – but TB needs to stop making these insane jumps of logic just to bash the political establishment. It’s kinda hard to take serious blog posts that put forward these crazy conspiracy theories *all the friggin time*. Sometimes these posts sound kinda tin foil hat…

I think I’ll keep the spaces – lines of separation and all that…

I’m sure all of these guys are crooks – no doubt about that, but TB ends up sounding irrelevant when he spouts nonsense like this.

These one sided Gaffney fluff pieces get old fast – this isn’t a “revolution”, it’s just propping up the side you like while taking broad swipes at the side you don’t. TB helped get his ‘selection’ into the Worcester superintendent spot, and strangely enough all critical reporting on the district has stopped. Here’s an example of the news that is getting covered up by TB because his candidate is now in power:

Interim superintendent Rodriguez had in place a plan to end the leasing of South Main YMCA space for the overcrowded Chandler Elem school. According to sources (friends) in the district maintenance dept, plans were fully underway to move school locations to save from signing onto the new 3 year lease from the Y. Once she got the job, Superintendent Binienda stopped the planned school moves and promptly signed the YMCA lease for another three years – the cost? $300,000 for 3 years – $100,000 a year. This was reported in the local papers, but never a critical mention here on TB – it’s more money than was paid to the reviled Mosaic, a completely unnecessary spend, but nothing reported here?!? Political favoritism much?

The Worcester administration deserves getting bashed at each and every turn. No redeeming qualities for any of them. Recent past or present.

Am I wrong, this regulation will only be applied to Shrewsbury St.? From how it is being presented, one could almost get that impression. I don’t think it does, but knowing how things work in the city, anything is possible. I would be interested in how the “mayor” of Shrewsbury St. feels about this. Has Gary Vecchio given any statement about this? Shrewsbury St. is unique given that it is a heavy mix of business and residential. On the matter of outside dining, those establishments that are setting up on the sidewalk frontage in many instances are not keeping enough clear frontage for travel according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
