GoFundMe’s can be a good thing, but they can also be a terrible thing. They can go to good causes, like when we used it to help us raise money for Sarah Ewing’s family, but they also went to scams like Widoff’s bakery for their years of malfeasance. Basically they’re good when you’re raising money for people who need it and deserve it, but they’re bad when people beg for shit they don’t deserve.
On Facebook today I saw that the Worcester South High School football team started a GoFundMe. This is an example of both a good and bad GoFundMe at the same time. On the one hand, there is no cause more worthy of our help than an inner city school athletic program. I can’t tell you how important sports are to the development of young men, particularly kids who come from homes where there is no Dad, and there is no structure. And no sport teaches you discipline, hard work, teamwork, than football does.
I can tell you from experience, that there is no school in all the land that has a tighter knit community than South High. As a cranky middle-aged man, I can assure you that friends from South High School stick together throughout life like no other alumni. All we ever did was lose games (unless you graduated in 2007 or 1989), but yet the sense of pride that South kids had in where they came from is unrivaled. Go to a South High wedding. Guaranteed that over half the groomsmen will be dudes that the groom went to high school with.
So I know that South High alum will come through for this team, because they know how important it is. The Colonels are led by first year coach Mike McAuliffe. When he first stepped in as coach he came to the realization that the team didn’t even have the appropriate supplies for practice, never mind the games.
This is what I was talking about when I say that GoFundMe’s can be a bad thing. Because make no mistake about it – this is a fucking joke. It’s an EMBARRASSMENT that a diverse city high school has to go to the Internet and beg for money like a Goddamn panhandler. I’m happy they’re doing it, but I’m embarrassed as a South graduate and a Worcester taxpayer, that this is what South High School has to do in order to put together a football team. Why is this not adequately funded in the budget? Why is this more important than the hundreds of thousands of dollars in waste that I can think of without even going through the budget line by line?
Here’s what I’m proposing. Jen Roy, I know you’re reading this. If you have an ounce of class or integrity, you will resign from your bullshit, superfluous, $50,000 a year job as “communications specialist” tomorrow. Anything else is unacceptable. Jen Roy’s job is the definition of wasteful spending. It’s a position that did not even exist until Melinda Boone decided that she was too gutless to face the media, and needed a cheerleader to make a bullshit website and newsletter that made her look good.
It is a DISGRACE that she has the minerals to pay this talentless, unqualified, obsessive busy body, to message Turtleboy Sports at 2 AM with imaginary lawsuits, and borderline psychotic rantings and ravings:
What an absolute joke. The city of Worcester also put out an ad today for a “Chief Diversity Officer.” (If you’re reading this, you should apply for this job, because we all know who will get it if we just let them take it). This person will probably get a six figure salary to do a task that is not needed. The mere fact that this position exists, suggests that Worcester’s workforce is not diverse enough because those who do the hiring are racially biased. We all know that that is the furthest thing from the truth. Yet Joe Petty and Ed Augustus signed off on this, while the South High football team has to beg for fucking money!!
Are you as sick of this shit as we are? South High school is THE perfect example of something that the Circlejerk and their fantastic friends should care about. But yet because of their incessant whining about institutional racism, we are diverting city funds towards groups like Mosaic Cultural Complex, Jen Roy, Chief Diversity Officer’s, Hector Pineiro settlement funds, and all this other BULLSHIT. That’s where your tax dollars are going as black, hispanic, asian, white, and a shit ton of other diverse boys beg for money on the Internet.
Coach McAuliffe had this to say on the GoFundMe: “My main goal is for the student athletes on the South High Football Team to become young men that value hard work, friendship, sportsmanship, and selflessness.”
Ya see that? There is a coach with a vision. Doesn’t mention winning or losing, because traditionally we lose at South High. That’s what makes us Colonels. But it’s the values you took out of it that really mattered. If every dollar that went to Mosaic, Jen Roy, and DOJ discussions, instead went to programs for the youth in worcester, there would be less youth violence. You want to make the city better? Start with the kids. The parents are a lost cause. Did you read what the coach says in his explanation? I want to teach these young men about hard work, friendship, etc. What the fuck is mosaic teaching anyone? To resist law enforcement?
The Mass Fury’s starting defensive tackle, Craig Winfield-Shippee, was a 2007 graduate. A kid who grew up with nothing handed to him in life, smack dab in the middle of Main South. Without football every day after school, what would kids like Craig be doing? What are their options when they go home? Because all the other neighborhood geniuses end up harassing the gang squad in front of Tedeschi’s with an iPhone.
In these yearbook pictures right here I see four army veterans, a U.S. border patrol agent, Worcester firefighters, cops, small business owners, a North High Vice Principal who was assaulted this year, and tons of other productive American citizens.
All of them could attest to the fact that football shaped them into the men they are today. The current students at South High School NEED our tax dollars more than the sneakthieves, crooks, and chiselers who are basically stealing it right now.
And it’s not just Jen Roy who should step down. Melinda Boone just accepted a pay raise that could fix all of South’s problems over night, despite being borderline incompetent. Joe Petty’s salary doubled when his boy Tim Murray doubled salaries for part time elected officials back in 2006. Now he’s asking for another pay raise. Both of these ass clowns and Ed Augustus should resign tomorrow.
This is what their version of Worcester looks like – a heavily funded state and federal investigation of a blog, while South High School students beg for scraps.
Get these fucking clowns out of my face in November, Worcester. Vote them out. Vote them out hard. I don’t just want Joe Petty to lose – I want him to get steamrolled. I want this election to send shockwaves through the establishment. I want Jim McGovern making phone calls to the Massachusetts DNC to ask who the fuck started this dumpster fire. Because if this doesn’t tell you that change needs to come, then I don’t know what will.
P.S. Someone just donated $5,000 anonymously. I fucking love you whoever you are. I’d ask you to come forward so I can get you credit, but you’re obviously not doing it to be recognized. So I tip my cap to you sir or madame. But it doesn’t change the point that it shouldn’t take some anonymous Robin Hood to bail out our schools when there is money available that is going to the wrong people now.
Double P.S. Doherty sucks.
Triple P.S. Leicester sucks too.
Quadruple P.S. Mike Gaffney just gave $250. Your move Joe Petty.

I think that you have an obsession with Jen Roy. I get it. She’s a smoke. But your obsession would be normal if it involved a box of tissues, some lube and ended in a week or two.
Jen Roy sells page views. You clicked on the blog. Mission accomplished.
No retraction on the Shippee thing huh?
First to call out other’s mistakes, last to admit your own.
Holy Shit, wait a minute…..
South High has a football team?
Clearly throwing up some sort of sign in the picture you used.
http://m.telegram.com/article/20080730/news/807300515
Pretty sure that’s him.
You should read closer, that’s his father. His father has gang ties and he moved out to take care of his younger brother. Also that is not a gang sign. Just because a darker person puts fingers out doesn’t mean it’s a gang.
His father was 18 in 2008? Maybe you should read closer.
Crickets
So, football may not have worked perfectly yet for one kid on the team, so the whole program isn’t worthy of support? The EBT program better be afraid if Fire gets elected to anything.
No, I think the program, along with all wps athletic programs deserve the support. I just think that particular example was a poor one if you are trying to call attention to the great job the program does molding young men who contribute to society.
Army veteran, firefighter, home invading gang member?????
Here’s the link to the 2010 case in which Craig shippee Winfield’s dad was sentenced to prison, not Craig. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2010/02/craig_shippee_of_worcester_get.html
Keep up the good work!!
So you’re not going to admit the link I provided was correct? In trying to prove the program produces quality young men you used a picture of a known gang member who has had run ins with the law. Interesting that he’s a Mass Fury player though. Where have I heard of that team before?
The article posted by “fire” was from 2008. Your link is from 2010. Therefore not only are you promoting one criminal, you’re promoting someone who comes from a family that has had legal issues for multiple generations. Poorly researched blog. Poorly written blog in regards to grammar and just a porous effort overall.
You got owned. He’s a known gang member throughout Worcester. You’re a squid. Get a real job loser.
As long as you keep clicking on the blogs none of us will ever have to get real jobs ever again.
Shippee is a known gang member. Not your best work.
No he’s not. Document it.
This is hardly a South High problem or a football problem. Every Central MA public HS athletic program is underfunded. Nearly every sport at nearly every public school has to rely on fundraising efforts of its parents and athletes year round to stay afloat.
As the spouse of a local high school head coach (who, incidentally, spent 8am-2am today at a team fundraiser), I can tell you that HS coaches around here don’t do it for the money, or get paid very much – even in the more affluent communities. We know every year going in that coaching is going to be an expense, never a profitable venture.
All of that being said, we are all for the preservation of the South High Football program, whatever it takes.
TB is spot on! This is exactly what inner city kids need and Melinda Boone is failing them. Another reason why I am so glad that I moved out of Worcester and away from this type of crap.
What a stupid article. Is turtle boy actually blaming Jen Roy for South being underfunded? What a moron. And this obsession with her is creepy, to say the least. Get a life.
Hi Jen!!
Figuring she reached out first on a drunk evening, I wager it is fair game. It is refreshing to see she has backers though. Welcome.
Hi Jen!!! did you drunkenly message anyone in the middle of the night again!!!
Once again we have another blog about Jen Roy… I’m starting to believe Turtleboy is the actual “dooschnozzle” of Worcester. If you have to repetitively write blogs about that woman I think you have an issue. The issue I’m referring to would be an unhealthy obsession. I really used to enjoy the blog but have grown tired of reading blogs daily about Clive, Mayor Petty, Sonya Connor, etc. Want your blog to be taken seriously? Utilize 2 things before publishing a blog: SPELL CHECK and taking the action of proofreading. Your blog is old, played out, boring and just not funny or entertaining anymore.
P.S. Please never call Turtleboy Sports a revolution ever again.
WHAT A JOKE.
And for anyone that says I’m supporting the Worcester liberals, that’s far from true. I am a registered Republican.
You clicked on the blog and I guarantee you will keep clicking on them. Turtleboy wins again
Viva the Turtle Boy revolution!!!!!
This is probably Jen.
As someone that enjoyed beating South on the gridiron for 4+ years (sorry TBS and the South community), I would love to see this work for them. And from someone that is still involved in local football, I always feel terrible for the players (and sometimes the staff, depends on the school) for schools that ruin the funding for sports programs. With that being said, I have a story to share about South football:
Last season (although, I’m second guessing myself and it could have been 2 seasons ago), I was able to catch a couple South games. The first game was in October, and they were sporting some new uniforms. They were black with pink highlights, very obviously worn in honor of Brest Cancer Awareness Month. In November, I was at another and they were still wearing them. I figured that the regular uniforms were so bad, they would rather wear black and pink than white and red. I then thought (which has become validated with this recent development), why was that money spent on brest cancer awareness jerseys and not regular ones? From what some told me in the crowd that night, it was the parents/boosters that raised the money for them. But, why was it spent on something so frivolous? Brest cancer awareness is a great cause, don’t get me wrong, but if they were hurting for equipment that bad why was it not spent to provide for the team? I hope these issues get taken care of under the new coach. Every school deserves a healthy football program.
Your boy Craig is one of the biggest gang bangers in the city. Google it. He’s a bad dude.
google done – found no evidence of gang banging
That’s his dad, which only further validates the story.
But a chief diversity officer will help Wanda the wacko sleep better at night. I say FUCK HER, and the rest of those psychos! They are downright stealing from the taxpayers while our elected officials keep signing the checks! Wake up worcester!
Will the diversity officer look into the matter of the Asian chicks in Wanda’s basement?
I’m late to this conversation but people forget that was a real thing
No room for debate – these coaches, many times, are the father figure these kids don;t have. It’s not a fucking Disney movie. Real life. TB is right – parents are useless. Get at these kids while they still can make positive choices. Starts with sports and other activities. So many mooching assholes getting paid way too much to do legitimately nothing. Worcester needs a fucking diversity officer? Fuck that. Know what shatters racial divides? Working together – you know, doing shit like sports. Until these hippies are voted out, this city has no chance. I love this city and I’m pulling for it, but race-baiters and the PC police are dividing, not uniting. Be a fucking human.
The anonymous donation of $5K, needs no credit, very humble individual. He is an amazing guy with the biggest heart you will ever meet and one of the toughest football players that ever hailed from S.H.
PS.. I agree with your DOUBLE PS.
