Daily MailA Southern California high school teacher was caught on camera denigrating the intelligence of people serving in the US military. In the videos, which were stealthily recorded in class by a student at El Rancho High in Pico Rivera, California, history teacher Gregory Salcido, 49, can be heard making a variety of unflattering remarks about service people, at one point calling them the ‘lowest of the low.’

The videos went viral after being posted on Facebook by a Connecticut woman claiming to be the anonymous student’s mother’s friend. ‘My friends son was sporting his marine sweater while this liberal douche teacher rants about the military,’ Kimberlie Flauto wrote on Facebook on Friday, while exhorting people to ‘help me make this go viral.’

In one of the clips, Salcido can be heard saying, ‘Think about the people who you know are over there. Your freakin’ stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumb s***ts. They’re not like high-level thinkers. They’re not academic people. They’re not intellectual people.’

He then says that overseas service people are ‘the freakin’ lowest of our low. Not morally – I’m not saying they make bad moral decisions – they’re not talented people.’

As he speaks, students can be heard laughing in the background.

It’s unclear why exactly Salcido began spouting off about the military, but the video does capture him expressing disbelief over the fact that the military – with all of it’s technology – can’t control people ‘wearing robes.’ He also disagrees with President Trump and other prior presidents’ claims that the US military is the best military in the world. ‘The data is in, we don’t have a good military,’ Salcido says.

The 17-year-old high school senior who shot the videos, told The OC Register that he never intended for the videos to go viral. He merely showed it to his mother, who then sent it on to her friends. The student, who wished to remain anonymous to avoid retribution, said that his brother and uncles were Marines who fought in Afghanistan, Desert Storm and Vietnam, and that Salcido’s comments were ‘so disrespectful.’

In a message on his personal Facebook page, posted on Friday from New York,  Salcido wrote that: ‘I don’t think it’s wise for me to make any specific comments, but I want my friends, family, and students to know we are fine and we respect the rights of free expression for all individuals.’

Salcido has allegedly had previous issues with students. He was placed on paid administrative leave after police received a complaint that he had hit a student in 2012. Before that, in 2010, a parent alleged that Salcido threatened his daughter, insulted other students and parents and made inappropriate comments about race during a summer school class. Salcido denied the claims, but was suspended from teaching until the fall semester started.  In addition to being a teacher, Salcido is also a Pico Rivera councilman.

These videos are unreal. You just gotta hear this guy’s tone. It’s unbelievable:

Scary that people like this have access to students. What’s really sad is that he gives all teachers a bad name and fits into a false narrative that this is your average public school teacher. I never had any teachers like this. I knew most of them were probably liberals (except for Mr. Levine, who was never in the mood for your bullshit), but they just wanted to teach me math, science, English, and history. Most teachers just want to do their job and help kids learn.

But just like any other profession some bad apples seep through the cracks. Judging teachers based on the actions of this guy is like judging all cops based on the actions of a few bad ones. Unfortunately this is what it leads to:

Now it will turn into an attack on public schools in general. Especially when people start going through his wide open Facebook page and see stuff like this:

The mere fact that his page is still up despite the fact that millions of people have watched that video speaks to his arrogance. I mean, just look at this douchecanoe:

Be more cocky. You can’t.

Plus, he’s already been suspended and has a past history of making inappropriate racial statements in class. Believe it or not the teacher’s union is not nearly as powerful as you’d be lead to believe. If this guy doesn’t get shitcanned it’s a miracle.

Many former students are not surprised:

And his post from the other day just reeks of someone who is 1,000% sure he’s not gonna lose his job over this:

Newsflash – you don’t have the right to free speech when you’re standing in front of a class full of children. Here’s some of the other things he said:

“You join the military because your parents didn’t love you enough.”

“The parents urge you to join the military to get you out of their ass.”

To the student wearing the Marines shirt – “Don’t you ever bring that military shit into the class. I don’t know why they let military recruiters come into school. They don’t let pimps come into school. Is anyone interested in being a ho?”

He also said some racist shit in there too – “We couldn’t beat the Vietnamese, they’re this freaking big, throwing rice at us.”

He also compares the choice of joining the military to 9/11 victims who had to choose between dying in a fire or jumping from the 100th floor. Then he compares it to choosing to eat cat shit or shit. He says every swear imaginable in class.

You have a right to say all these things because our military protects those rights. But you don’t have a right to be a public school teacher. That’s an honor and a privilege, and one that he is not worthy of.

What pissed me off about the video was the laughing reaction of the students. This guy is clearly the “cool teacher,” which makes it easier for him to brainwash them. They look up to him. They’re basically lemmings.

We all had a teacher like this (just not this extreme). You remember the guy – the young, edgy guy who tried to be your friend. The one who tried to prove to you that he wasn’t like that lame old lady who taught World Civ last year. The one that has the desks shaped like a circle instead of in rows, and has a beanbag in the corner of the room. The ones who let you eat lunch in their room and wear hats in class. Te one with a Che Guevera poster in his class:

The one who calls is students, “white chocolate.”

The one who posts provocatively with teenage girls:

These are the kind of teachers who can manipulate kids the easiest.

The fact of the matter is that the military is a viable option for lots of upstanding individuals, not just people who have run out of options. My college roommate at UMass was my friend from high school. He grew up in a shitty situation but he wanted to go to college. So he joined the National Guard because they paid for him to go to college. He had to leave second semester freshman year to go to boot camp. He went on to serve his country in Afghanistan before eventually finishing his degree for free. Now he’s a suit on Wall Street and making tons of money.

But please, tell me more about how only dumb people join the military.

Just another poseur who couldn’t get or keep a job in the private sector. Fake tough guy that’s too big of a pussy to serve.

2-1 odds he’s diddling some of his students – probably the ones he’s trying to dehumanize with his self-loathing projecting.

D or R, it does not matter. I made the choice to serve in the US Army a decade or so ago. All of my male family served the US because they were drafted in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. They had no money and did not apply for a deferment or five like our current “Commander in Chief.”

All of them served honorably because they loved their country and had “no choice.”

I do not believe myself to be an idiot or lacking education. I have no reason to believe that the males in my family were/are idiots. (Most all are dead and even in death, they were not idiots or uneducated for serving.)

The “educator” in question needs a bit more education/experience in his head before opening his mouth to pass on “Knowledge” to our youth.

Thank all of you for the votes both “Up & Down.” As a US veteran, I could not vote for either candidate for US President that was presented to me and the US people as being the best from both parties. Something is wrong with the system. My post was designed to bring attention to this very matter and nothing more.

I am truly sorry if I offended anyone with my words. As I have said before, these are my thoughts and opinions and nothing more. Think for yourself.

He could serve on a tennis court, but he couldn’t serve the US, his/our country, the 5 times he was asked to. A shameful coward. Some other father, brother or uncle took his place because they we expendable and were so much ” less important.”

Actions are louder than words no matter how loud or how frequently they are shouted.

Disgusting to all vets and the America people in general.

The biggest irony with this wet back is the fact that his state, California, has sucked off the dime of the “military-industrial” complex for years and years.
Every branch of our military had a tremendous presence in that state and they are still there, even if in lessor numbers.
Aircraft manufacturer’s with big military contracts have provided employment for so many in the state.

I have one relative currently serving in the US Army. He does it for love of country. He was born with the silver spoon (or gold), is worth millions, owns houses in 3 states, has 2 young children & a beautiful wife. A real man. Not like fucken Salsalito douche.

Don’t forget, most teachers failed in Finance or Engineering School, then chose the easiest major!

He has things backwards. True wall street bankers don’t join the military because people enlist when their young.

But veterans do go on to be wall street bankers.

He’s calling everybody else ignorant but everytime you point the finger there’s 4 more pointing at you.

Yup. Brian Hyde….and it ended in disaster for him too. He was my 6th grade social studies teacher. Fresh out of college, he was the cool teacher that used the light swear words and everyone thought it was so cool. He eventually became the Superintendent of Mashpee Schools (the same school he taught my class) and was fired for going in to students houses and accusing them of attending his schools even though they did not live in the school district. He literally barged through the front door and searched a student’s house for proof of signs that the kid lived there. I think he was charged criminally and he definitely lost his job over it. THAT is a liberal douche if I’ve ever seen one

It’s fucking infuriating. But this isn’t uncommon type of thinking in California. The state is broke, tax paying citizens are fleeing to bordering states, all because the know-it-all sqeeky wheel dbags don’t value serving this country or working for a living. They would rather call those people neanderthals, to feel good and virtuous about themselves while inviting millions of illegals to go on the public dole forcing the state to ruin. But hey, we feel good going it! Just like it feels good for this fuckface to look down his nose at people serving in the military.

I know a lot of veterans and a lot of high school teachers and a fair number of politicians. If I made a list of the 100 all around smartest people I’ve ever met, at least half the list would be veterans and maybe one or two would be high school teachers. None of the politicians I know would even make the list. This guy is a flaming douchebag.

I’ve got one better. When the space shuttle Challenger blew up half of our school watched it happen on live tv during school. My teacher was super liberal and spoke at length about what a waste of money the space program (and military) was and how people were starving because of stuff like that etc. Anyway, when it blew up we could here the reaction of the students watching and teachers started talking in the hallway, kids were crying, it was everything you would expect from elementary school kids. My teacher told the other teachers to keep it down so that she could keep teaching. She didn’t retire for several more years.

My husband was in class with one of Christa McAuliffe’s sons and she taught in his school district. He also watched it live until it blew up and the a teacher quickly shut off the TV. He remembers everyone crying but didn’t understand why. He knew something happened but wasn’t sure what it was. Thankfully he didn’t have some asshole teacher saying horrible stuff like you did.

It was a tragedy. In defense of teachers in Sterling aside from that one teacher, and a notoriously pervy gym teacher who ended up having to ride a bicycle to school following an OUI, the rest were all great. I was lucky to go to school in that town.

My son is joining the military. He is going to West Point first. Look up what it takes to get accepted to West Point. He is far from stupid probably smarter than that teacher. He is in all AP classes and gets A’s I would never have thought my son would be one to join the military but it’s what HE LOVES. He has been in the JROTC program at his school since he started high school and it’s brought out the best in him. It’s gonna be hard when he leaves but I’m proud of him and what he has decided to do.

What an asshole. And that stuff he was saying about the victims of 9/11, how they killed others when they jumped I have never heard that before, but he made these people sound like selfish people who should of just let themselves die a horrible way. I mean it’s not like when the building fell a few minutes later those same people they “killed” wouldn’t have been crushed by the building. I hope we get a follow up article when he gets fired.

I can actually rephrase this teachers poor choice of words in a way that is actually politically palatable to even the Didi Delgado’s of the world. His commentary largely was true in the 1990s – when the military would literally take anyone, including people with juvenile records blemishes and poor performance in school. The reality of that situation is that it provided many people, yugely many actually, to escape the negative environments they came from (black ghettos, white trailer parks), repair missing socialization skills, acquire some job skills, be deeply and regularly encouraged to attain promotions, have the respect of the people above and below them, and largely, become better people even without college or student loans. That said, the lowest of low, the people who wouldn’t even be able to handle college prep classes, or whose environments would have afforded them few vocational options – did pretty damn well.

I might also mention that the military is one place where blacks, latinos and other people of color regularly rise through the ranks on merit promotions through the NCO ranks, gain the respect of young recruits and are largely immune from the other forms of PC bullshit that plagues the corporate world.

Where this teacher gets it totally wrong the second time is the current recruiting situation. Today, to get a spot on the Navy or Air Force, generally requires ASVABs so high that those candidates are also receiving competing offers to go to college.

Gregory Salcido doesn’t deserve his citizenship, doesn’t deserve his teaching license and doesn’t have any particularly clever insights to share with students.
