Masslive: A Worcester man was arrested after allegedly attacking and trying to gouge out the eyes of a police officer working a construction detail on Country Club Boulevard. Just after 10 a.m. Wednesday, an officer was working a private detail on Country Club Boulevard, just off of Lincoln Street, when a man driving a Mazda attempted to drive through the construction area. Police said 30-year-old Jones Appiah, of 1 Country Club Boulevard, attempted to drive through the coned area down to the entrance of the Aldi Supermarket.

Appiah became angry and yelled at the officer before making a u-turn on Country Club Boulevard and driving up the wrong side of the road, police said. The officer yelled and signaled for him to stop, but he did not, police said. A few minutes later, police said Appiah again tried to drive into the construction area, this time entering by taking a right turn off of Lincoln Street. He drove through the construction site and entered the supermarket parking lot, according to police.

As the officer approached his car, Appiah exited and began to walk away, police said. The officer then asked to see his license and registration. Appiah responded by yelling obscenities at him, according to police. The officer then told Appiah he was under arrest for failure to stop for a police officer. Appiah then began to run from the scene, police said. A security guard from the store came out into the parking lot and Appiah pushed him out of his way, police said.

“As the officer closed in Mr. Appiah stopped and turned towards the officer,” police said. The officer realized that he was about to be assaulted and quickly deployed his pepper spray. At this time Mr. Appiah wiped off his face and threatened bodily harm to the officer. The pepper spray appeared to have little to no effect on Mr. Appiah.”

Appiah charged at the officer, tackling him to the ground, police said. The officer used his pepper spray a second time

“During the violent struggle, the officer could feel Mr. Appiah digging his fingernails into his face and purposely scratching him,” police said. “At this time Mr. Appiah took one of his fingers and purposely pressed, with great force, into one of the officers’ eye. The officer believed that Mr. Appiah was actually attempting to gouge out his eye.”

The officer was able to push Appiah off of him and gain control.

This is almost the exact same situation that happened in Ferguson. Cop tells dooshpickle not to travel on a road. Dooshpickle disregards police officer and does what he wants. Cop tries to stop dooshpickle. Dooshpickle attacks him. This one just had a different ending because cops are obviously petrified of becoming the next Darren Wilson, so they’re playing Russian roulette with their own lives.

This is just more undeniable proof that “unarmed” people aren’t being killed by cops because of racism, it’s because they attack police officers and basically beg to get shot. That’s what happened here. This asswipe could’ve easily just followed directions and done as he was told. Not only did he blatantly disregard an order from a police officer, he then came BACK to the scene of the crime just to show the police officer that he was gonna ignore him again. Because….fuck the police.

This is why people are getting killed by police officers – because they think cops and citizens are on the same playing field. They think they can choose whether or not they want to listen to them and engage them in hand to hand combat. Then when the cops use lethal force in order to protect themselves we get black lives matter idiots blockading highways and whining about “murder.”

This is yet another example that cops in Worcester are a special breed. How many times have we seen this play out? Where a Worcester cop goes out of their way NOT to use lethal force in a situation in which they could easily be killed. This cop was rolling on the ground with a guy who was actively trying to gouge his freaking eyes out. At any point the guy could’ve reached for the cops gun and this story would’ve had a completely different ending. He had every right to shoot this lawless dooshnozzle but he chose not to.

So the next time you hear Professor Sonya “Boom-Boom” Conner whining about the abusive and racist Worcester Police, just remind them the lengths they went to in order to make sure that Jones Appiah got to live another day.

Anyway, great job to the WPD as usual. Now let’s see if black lives matter activists in Worcester like Julius Jones and Sonya Conner give the Worcester Police credit for putting themselves in harms way so that another asshole can live. Don’t hold your breath.
