Just when you thought it wasn’t possible for Tom Brady to dominate life even more than he already does, the Ellen show happened and he proved us all wrong. Check out this story –
Danny Keefe, a six-year-old first grader from Bridgewater, Mass., suffered a brain hemorrhage shortly after he was born that causes some speech issues.
Danny dresses in a suit and tie, and he helps out the fifth grade boys’ football team as their water boy. As a sign of their support against the bullying that Danny experiences, the team dressed up in suits and ties of their own. Danny and his friend Tommy appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently. Danny’s story was told, and the boys received some pretty cool gifts.
I never thought the day would come when I blogged about Ellen DeGeneres (at least in a positive light) but this just made my day and unless your soul has been scourged by the Devil, it will likely make yours as well. Check it –
Tom Freaking Brady. Only he could pull off something that heart warming. Think Brady cares if you make fun of his Uggs?
Or that he screams like a girl when he water slides?
Or that he dances awkwardly at Carnival?
Or that he wears a cardigan to his post game press conference?
Just No.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group of kids that I want to see succeed more than these fifth graders in Bridgewater. First of all, big Tommy plays quarterback? He’s gonna be bigger than Jamarcus Russell when he grows up, and likely will be a lot better. I would’ve bet anything that when Ellen asked him what position he was playing he’d say defensive tackle. And by the looks of his teammates I’d bet money their games get cut short by the mercy rule a lot. Check out this pump up speech from little Danny:
Love the kid with the mohawk patting big Tommy on the back there when he gets choked up. Love the Vince Lombardi look that little Danny is going for even more so. I know it’s hard for people who aren’t his mother to understand what he’s saying, but I can easily tell what he’s trying to get across from his pure passion alone. If this kid gives me one of those speeches before my next 5k I might just beat the entire nation of Kenya.
As awesome as this story is, some people are taking it the wrong way. Like Jerry Thornton at Barstoolsports. According to old man Jerry,
“(Tom Brady) exposed the kids who bullied him for the soulless cowards that they are.”
Yea, I know your natural reaction is to get mad about the kids that are picking on Danny boy, but keep in mind that they are five year olds. A five year old asking another five year old why they don’t talk isn’t exactly bullying. It’s a little kid who only recently figured out how to use a toilet asking another little kid a question because he’s curious about the world. The concept of hurting other kid’s feelings is something that hasn’t even crossed their mind at this point. Picking on poor defenseless kids like Danny doesn’t become mainstream until you get to middle school. So ease up on getting mad at the “bullies.” They’re just young kids who haven’t learned right from wrong yet. If you’re an adult that calls a five year old a “soulless coward” then it’s safe that say that you have much bigger issues than any kindergartner.
And one last thing, what’s up with Bob Kraft only offering these kids end of the season Buffalo Bills tickets? Come one Bob, you’re gonna be hosting one or two playoff games right after that. If Peyton Manning chokes again next week then the Patriots might not even have to win their game against the Bills and it might be Ryan Mallett time. But hey, being a cheapskate and going after the next best thing has always been Kraft’s MO. Just ask Adam Vinatieri, Assante Samuel, and Wes Welker.
Go Patriots.
