Today on Turtleboy Tuesdays the first thing Cruisin Bruce and Uncle Turtleboy talked about was Harambe the gorilla, who OBVIOUSLY had to be put down when he endangered the life of a four year old boy who fell into his zoo exhibit. Here’s the podcast if you missed it.

And just to prove how right we were about this, here’s what happened according to someone who was actually there:

13324377_10209720239506865_586217686_o
13288535_10209720239746871_1946422170_o

13324142_10209720240026878_1673261765_o

So there you go. The kid was with Mom one second, she takes a picture, and then the kid disappears. The Mom wasn’t texting or not paying attention. She just lost her kid in a crowded place like millions of parents have done before. By the time the kid fell in the pit the mother was actively looking for him. He purposely ran away from her and snuck in to play with his friend Harambe.

Plus, the Mom says she was taking a picture when the kid ran away. What do you do at the zoo when you’re with your kids? Do you sit there and stare at them the entire time? No. Because you’re not a weirdo. You look at the cool animals like everyone else does. You might even – gasp – take a picture!!!! You better think twice about that because you could be the next target of a viral Internet lynch mob.

The more I think about it the more I think it’s the zoo’s fault. Kids with their parents are gonna be the primary patrons at the zoo. And kids by nature will disregard everything their parents tell them and disappear from time to time. I lose Turtleboy Jr. at some point when I go to Walmart 95% of the time. Under no circumstances should a mischievous, disobedient child be able to jump into a gorilla pit. Can’t happen. Can’t be possible. I don’t care what you have to do, that just should not be a possibility.

Anyone calling this woman a bad parent is a huge hypocrite. You think one unfortunate isolated incident makes you a bad parent? Bad parenting is not reading to your kids, not brushing their teeth, not teaching them manners, not teaching them to respect teachers, etc. Those are things that MANY parents purposely don’t do for their kids and the kids end up becoming shitty people. But losing site of your kid in a public place does not a bad mother make.

And guess what the mother, Michelle Gregg does for work?

Yup, that’s right – she works at a daycare. O Henry couldn’t write a more ironic short story. Naturally the Internet found out about this and started to destroy her company’s Facebook page, and they had to deactivate it. But Michelle Gregg is the bad one here. Not the savages who want to destroy her life because her kid ran away from her at the zoo.

Check out this Facebook page, entitled “Investigate Michelle Gregg.” They’re trying to get her kids taken away from her by DCF and make sure she never works again:

But yea, Michelle Gregg is the bad guy. It was a tragic situation that could happen to anyone. If you’re casting stones at this woman then you need to get over yourself, because you’re probably a pretty shitty person too.

Turtle boy, you’re 100% wrong about this. How many children does this happen to, really? This fat cow deserves everything that’s happening to her and should be fired and have her children taken away, along with charges being filed. She’s another lazy parent who can’t take care of her kids and should have her tubes tied so she can’t breed more unintelligent spawn.

I don’t think the mother should’ve been harassed online, but I do think she is awful. I understand that kids can slip away from you in the blink of an eye, so I’m not faulting her for that. My problem is her lack of remorse. In her post about the incident, she didn’t apologize or even acknowledge that her child’s behavior resulted in the gorilla’s death. Accident or not, when your actions cause harm to another, you apologize. That’s just common decency. If she had been contrite about it at all, it could have calmed some of the furor.

I’m sorry, what kind of poll is that? They make it sound like it’s completely the gorilla’s fault. That was totally biased. They could have gone with should they have killed Harambe not should they have killed Harambe after he dragged the 4 year old child. I bet the results would be different if it said “should the have killed Harambe after the child fell into the enclosure because the mother didn’t watch him.”

She is a fat lazy bitch. The Zoo sucks too. The poor kid raised on junk food and TV is out of his mind too.

This was not just one isolated incident with this family. I know someone who works at the zoo with the Wings of Wonder bird show. This same child was at the bird show earlier that day causing a disruption. He was running around wild and flailing his hands at the birds as they flew over. The employee’s boss told him to reinforce that people do not disrupt the birds or else they would have to stop the show.

I think it’s both the parents and the zoo’s fault. If your kid is known to do mischievous stuff like this why bother taking them to such an exhibit at all? If he left his mom to quickly climb down into an enclosure like that then it CANNOT be an isolated incident. Something just doesn’t add up right to her story.
And from what I’ve read, the Cincinnati Zoo apparently has a history of safety problems keeping people and animals away from each other. So it’s their fault for not making their exhibits stupid proof for rabid 4-year olds.

Now why should it be the Zoos fault? I dont think so, its not the Zoos fault that the Mother wasnt watching her kid, If you read, this was the first incident they have ever had, Its the parents responsibilitie to have control and keep watch of their kids when visiting any establishment, not the business, This poor Gorilla didnt ask for this,

She should be prosecuted to the max, for child neglect. Anyone with even a small amount of sense. Knows, to keep a eye on their kids in public. But ten times more at a zoo. Also, the zoo should be busted in some way too. For not securing the gorilla’s crib from the public. It should be foolproof, even for a young kid to get into. The gorilla killing, not sure on that one ? But none of this would have occurred if the kid had a straight-up parent. It’s been reported she’s making cash off this now. With different TV programs and appearances. If true, it would not be surprising !

  • June 1, 2016 at 9:58 am

Gorilla exhibit open for 37 years
Cincinnati Zoo gets 1.6 million annual visits
    Harambe was 17 years
This incident was the first of its kind in the zoo’s history

Do that math for me one time and say it’s not the parents fault and I’ll call you a fucking moron.

Also, to further my point, because I’m right, you mean to tell me that if this lady had this incident happen to one of her daycare kids she was supervising then she would be completely held at fault (the zoo would be, also, I understand that) but because it was a personal visit she’s not held accountable? Fuck outta here.

I find it kind of ironic that you mention how the internet is trying to destroy her life. Isn’t that what you (Turtleboy) do when you disagree with someone? I read Turtleboy every day, and usually agree with your opinion, but I have to call the kettle black on this one. You purposely use your blog to destroy people – just saying….

  • June 1, 2016 at 1:24 am

I know from these comments in the minority…but I have to also think this was simply a terrible ACCIDENT! I can’t believe the grown adults bullying this Mother and her family like this!! You all are acting like the 8th grade kid were yelling our kids “to not worry about”. I guess you are all these fairytale perfect parents who have never done anything wronwrong Huh. Now CPS is putting themselves into it? It’s pretty unreal to me as a mother and can not even imagine going through this. What mother can reenact this scenario and say they haven’t done tidbit taken their eyes off their own child for as long as snapping a picture con their phone? If you said you have not….you my friend, are a liar. I wish it could somehow get this comment to Michelle herself.

  • Just an Opinion

I don’t think that she is a bad mom and the zoo did what was needed for the safety of the child which was the most important aspect of the situation. However, I wouldn’t say that this could happen to anyone since it is the 1st time in 35 years. Now I do think that the mother should have been paying a little more attention to her child knowing he wanted to go play with the gorillas. I took my 4 year old niece and 7 year old nephew to the zoo and not once were those children out of eye sight to be able to get in danger. Did the want to go up to the lions and tigers fencing to pay them like cats, yes, but they listened and understood how bad they could get hurt after talking to them about the danger. I was still able to take pictures and know that the children were there. And another thing is the wife of the man who first noticed the boy went over the railing said that he had his hand in his mothers back pocket so she could know where he was. Why didn’t she pay attention when he was no longer that close to her?

We should release all the gorillas in the zoos and give them EBT cards, gold grills and tattoos. Move’em down to Kilby Street. They’d fit in just fine at Walmart, Kmart and also vote eight or ten times for the cackling hag.

Replace them with cardboard cutouts. Most soccer moms wouldn’t know the difference anyway.

My son was “lost” on 3 separate occasions, none of which when he was with me or my husband. Once at Cahoon Hollow beach on the Cape (age 3, with my older brother), at the Roger Williams Zoo ( age 6, with teachers and chaperones on a field trip), and he walked away with the wrong group at preschool and was headed toward Main Street when I happened to notice it and brought him back. Did I sue any of these people or hold them accountable and not forgive them? No. Because it happens.

Three year olds have to be watched constantly especially at a place like the zoo….. that’s why they used to have kid leashes that went on parents wrist and child’s wrist, or hold the kids hand or put him in a stroller. Parents dropped the ball on this one.

You and your ilk are like the people who when told a person ran through a wall you wonder why it doesn’t look like what you see in cartoons where there’s a perfect outline of the human, and then you go on to argue that the person must have been holding a bomb in order to make such a hole so big.

I challenge any fucking parent who cherishes and loves their child upon seeing this happen to him or her, that they’re not going to want a rocket launched at that gorilla. And I wonder if the sanctimonious squad of perfect parents calling for this woman’s head have ever had their child slip their grip, vanish out the corner of an eye or wantonly bolt in defiance. Hell, I wonder if they even have children to know what something like this would be like? Cue the SJWs for animals! Fuck that gorilla.

If you want to see a child killed, visit one of our beautiful planned parenthoods, many children murdered everyday. The gorilla was part of Hamas(lol) he was using the kid as a human shield thank god the zookeepers are a better shot than the IDF(Israel’s planned parenthood). Now I’m not going to explain the food chain you should already know the difference between an animal and a human being. Dumbest fucking people around.

Having done extensive research on the American legal system by watching many, many Law & Order marathons, I can say with some confidence that I never saw DA McCoy press charges against anyone because of an online petition urging him to do so.

Most of the nut bags trying to get this woman fired or to have her kid taken away are animal rights assholes who don’t have kids. This bullshit needs to stop where people who have no clue about a situation go online and start or sign petitions because they think they are perfect. They’re nobodies but this gives them some control over other people who they believe they are better than. Twitter and Facebook are the only places they have friends and social media gives them power. Having X number of followers means everything to them. SJW’s come in many flavors.

i disagre with you 100% on this turtle, if turtle jr told you he was going to do something bad/wrong, would you ignore him just to take a photo?? or would you watch him more closely??? common sense.

    • Momof2grownadults
      June 1, 2016 at 5:58 pm

I’m not sorry one bit for holding this parent accountable for what happened. If your child tells you point blank, that he wants to get into the enclosure, not just once did he tell the mother, but multiple times, then you keep that child right next to you. You don’t stop to take a picture and just tell him ‘no’. You remove the child from the temptation or you keep your hands in that child.. At 4 yrs old, children do not grasp every degree of danger. That’s your job as a parent to monitor and protect that child from their own impulses .
It was an open exhibit. That’s one reason it’s so popular. There are signs everywhere stating that. Even more reason to keep your eye on your kid 100% of the time. As an adult, your obligation is to the kids in your care, not your own ‘good time’.
I am, by no means, a perfect parent, but when I took my kids out in public, my kids were my focus. No I was not a helicopter parent. But when you are in an already crowded place, then add wild animals into the mix, you do your job and be a parent.
I don’t care what this woman does for a living quite frankly. Although there is a difference between negligence and carelessness. Her actions were negligent. So I would not want her watching my children.
BTW just because someone works at a day care does not mean they should. Day cares often hire inexperienced or under qualified people. That’s painfully obvious if you watch the news and see the children that have been abused, neglected, injured or killed while in day care.
This animal was not given a choice or chance, because this mother was not paying enough attention to her kid.

      • Donna
        June 2, 2016 at 6:04 am

I so agree with you, I do blame the parent, some people can say what they want, if it wasnt for that Mother not paying attention to her son this would never have happen and to me she should be held responsible for the killing of this poor beautiful Gorilla, I dont claim to be a perfect parent either but common sense would tell you that if your child keeps telling you that he is going in the enclosure with the gorillas, you grab that kids hand and keep hold!!! when your in a zoo or anywhere, you keep hold of your child, but you have your careless parents

    • Kathleen Mary
      June 2, 2016 at 9:06 am

My kids (when they were small) always said silly things. It wouldn’t be uncommon for a kid to say that he wanted to swim with the gorillas. If one of my children had said that to me I probably would have smiled and said”You do? That would be cool, huh?” never thinking that my child would quickly crawl away to try to do so and especially be able to find his way into the gorilla enclosure. Parents expect that precautions have been made to keep people out of the animal’s habitats. Especially when the zoo has such a good safety record like this one. It was a horrible horrible accident, but that’s all that it was.

  • Fuck that noise
    May 31, 2016 at 5:53 pm

There is no way this kid should have made it in there plain and simple. The zoo is massively negligent for not entirely securing the place.

  • Wicked Smart Guy

  • GoneWest

I got lost at the zoo once; turned out fine. Did anyone ever explain why the didn’t just tranquilize it?

    • Worc Taxpayer
      May 31, 2016 at 6:07 pm

Maybe b/c they don’t take effect immedietly. They’re the experts and they thought that was the best way to resolve it.

    • ProfessorM
      May 31, 2016 at 6:12 pm

The zoo’s official statement said that when they initially shoot the dart, the animal tends to go through a ten minute freak out period, because they have been shot with a dart and the tranquilizer has not kicked in yet. Therefore, they were not willing to risk what he would do.

    • Just an Opinion
      June 1, 2016 at 12:31 am

Because the tranq would have taken to long (about 20-30 min) which could have caused more harm to the boy.

    • D
      June 1, 2016 at 8:49 am

They thought the tranquilizer wouldn’t work right away and only agitate the gorilla. He could have then (in a drowsy state) thrashed and really hurt the boy, trying to fight the tranquilizing meds.

  • Publius
    May 31, 2016 at 5:35 pm

These f*cking busy bodies. Who gives a F*ck about the gorilla. Sh*t happens with kids. In fact kids should be allowed to do more not less. Maybe not at age 4 but just in general. Now the generation that is completely f*cked by helicopter parents is out to prove they know best. I hope this latest group of SJW someday find themselves f*cked by some do gooder on the internet.
