So we were live tweeting and posting on Facebook today about the ongoing manhunt and ensuing standoff with cop killer Jorge Zambrano. Because that’s what we do here at Turtleboy Sports – we report the news. And guess what? That’s what we are ALWAYS gong to do and we apologize for NOTHING!!! Just wanted to make that perfectly clear. We make mistakes from time to time, but posting this was NOT one of those mistakes:
We got so much shit because of this post from turtle riders who are normally pretty supportive of the blog. Let’s check out the critiques: (no offense if you’re one of the people who made these posts – we’re not mad at you, we just wanna have a discussion about this)
Alright let’s break down why all of these things are silly…..
1. This is disresepectful
No it’s not. Keeping citizens informed about a dangerous situation is OBVIOUSLY not disrespectful.
2. Turtleboy is giving the criminal a tactical advantage
Yea, that’s it. That’s exactly what happened. This guy was sitting in a closet on his iPhone checking the latest updates on Turtleboy Sports. That’s what he was doing. He was just waiting for us to slip up and show the cops and STOP team outside of the house. If we didn’t post that he would have no idea he was surrounded. It’s not like they were repeatedly speaking to him over a megaphone or anything like that. He literally had NO IDEA he was surrounded until we posted it on our Facebook page. Oh yea, and Turtleboy was the ONLY Facebook page that posted any pictures of this. Everyone else was sworn to silence.
See how dumb that sounds? Please, think before you post. The next door neighbor was posting live video updates which hundreds of people were sharing all over Facebook. Only a moron would think that Turtleboy gave this idiot any sort of tactical advantage.
3. Tbe news respects officers wishes not to film deadly situations
Nuff said. Maybe this is a generational thing.
4. This is damaging to the families of law enforcement
We get it, you have a family member that’s a cop. We’re real proud of ya. But when they signed up for a job in law enforcement, they knew media coverage was part of the job. The media has a right to cover relevant news stories, regardless of whose feelings these hurt. And here’s an idea – if seeing these images is somehow triggering to you because you have a family member who is a cop, then don’t go on Facebook. It’s not our job to provide a mobile safe space that follows you around as you peruse through the Internet.
5. Police officers don’t respect Turtleboy
OK. We don’t write these blogs to please cops. If they like it, they like it. If they don’t, they don’t. Not gonna stop us from calling it like we see it. We’ve stood by police since our inception in the face of unprecedented attacks by black lives matter terrorists, CNN, and Hillary Clinton. Any cop that doesn’t appreciate the work we’ve done can subscribe to the Huffington Post or the New York Daily News instead. They’re really good to cops.
Oh, and speaking of opportunistic boot lickers, look when this page was created:
Hey Police, look at me!! I’m one of the good ones!!! I care about your feelings, unlike Turtleboy. Please like my page!! Blue lives matter!!!
This guy said it best:
Exactly. Calm your tits Turtleboy Nation.
