Armed robberies, sex trafficking, bomb scares, police chases, overdoses, streets littered with shell casings, drug dealers setting up “retail drug stores” in their own homes, used needles strewn across playgrounds, and unparalleled gun violence. In Brockton we call that Wednesday. In terms of crime statistics, the summer of 2015 continues to be by far the worst in Brockton history and man that is quite a dubious honor.
Monday was the sixth day in a row of gunfire in Brockton. City police recovered 74 shell casings from eight different shootings. No one was injured and no arrests were made in any of the incidents.
A community meeting will be held in Brockton Wednesday night to discuss the recent spike in gun violence in the city.
The meeting will be held in the cafeteria of the Arnone Elementary School at 135 Belmont St. at 7 p.m.
City and law enforcement officials are expected to attend to discuss their plans to respond to the violence and hear from community members. Residents are encouraged to attend and ask questions.
The meeting will be hosted by City Councilors Timothy Cruise and Thomas Monahan.
Brockton Police Chief John Crowley, members of the State Police and Mayor Bill Carpenter are among those expected to be in attendance. Beleaguered Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz may also attend.

I want to see a Worcester politician stand up and say “let’s round up all these creeps and get them off the streets.”
But that would be deemed racist, I’m sure.
I think this is gang violence.
Ummmmm no!
At least the Brockton city officials are addressing the violence. I think Petty, Augustas, and Gemme should hold a community meeting to address how they plan to tackle the recent gang violence in Worcester. What are these people waiting for?????
They’re having their picture taken with Wanda and people who are advocating for the citizens to not give information to the police. And them pictures should be on every campaign sign in the city
There have been rumors of Gemme retiring, this would be a good exit point for him.
When you tow the liberal line and call it gun violence you’re adding your support to the progressive agenda to remove guns from the hands of law abiding citizens, if that were to happen’ who would have guns? CRIMINALS! It takes too long for the cops to get there and I want the bodies they find to be that of the gangbangers and not my family.
When a drunk driver kills someone is it called car violence? Should people who drink responsibly be not allowed to drive? Or the public in general seeing car accidents kill many more people, if they come for the guns of the people I know they will meet fierce resistance. JS
OK Mr. Heston; dial the rhetoric back a tad. Obama isn’t coming for your guns.
Oops. I forgot I’m the token liberal.
gun violence, gun violence, gun violence, gun violence, gun violence, gun violence
blow that dog whistle some more
