The video of a Worcester bus driver falling out of her seat and crashing is insane, but it shouldn’t get her fired.
So a few weeks ago a schoolbus in Worcester crashed into someone’s house on Apricot Street after coming from Sullivan Middle School:
Damn. Well today the video was released of how that bus ended up hitting that car and smashing into that house:
I’m sorry, but I can’t stop laughing at that. It’s OK though because no one was seriously injured. So I’ll be watching this vine over and over again tomorrow whenever I need a break from the grind of blogging out hot takes all day:
Hold on. Is she wearing a life preserver? Or is that the vest Michael J. Fox wore in back to the future? Either way, I’m glad she’s OK because this obviously could’ve been a lot worse. Seems like she came across a sudden bump and lost her momentum. Not her fault. I’m pretty sure one of Newton’s laws caused that one.
So the lady, Jean Barbieri, has been fired, even though no kids were on the bus and the seatbelt was CLEARLY on, but not buckled completely. Because in Worcester high paid administrators like Carenza Jackson and Lisa Dyer can COMPLETELY fuck up time and time again, but a bus driver can’t make an innocent mistake. Ever.
The lady has been driving school buses for 22 years. I think bus drivers are saints. Have we all forgotten about Busgate? Do you realize what these people deal with on a day to day basis? They have basically no authority yet they are tasked with navigating the clusterfuck that is Worcester traffic, AND keeping some semblance of control of their passengers. And when they do finally drop off the kids, they just have to cross their fingers and hope an angry mob of Vernon Hill’s finest doesn’t lay siege to the bus if the second graders don’t get let off before the kindergarteners.
Look, I don’t wanna hear about safety, or the children, or any of that jive. Because anyone who lets their kids ride on a school bus has given up on safety completely. You realize there’s no seat belts on those things right? If the bus crashes then junior, spanky, cupcake, and princess are all road kill.
The bottom line is, the woman had her seatbelt on. She wouldn’t have had it on if she didn’t think it was buckled in. Nobody puts a seatbelt on if they think it’s not working. It’s like having a paralyzed leg and not getting it amputated. It serves no purpose and gets in the way. Obviously something was wrong with the buckle, so it’s not her fault. She’s the victim of inertia and shitty equipment, and for that she can no longer earn the living that she’s earned for the last 22 years. The WPS should be ASHAMED that they let go of Jean Barbieri after her brave, selfless, and low-paying dedication to children. Free my girl Jean!!!
