In response to the influx of panhandlers begging for drug money the cities of Leominster and Fitchburg have started to post these signs all over town:
Good for Mayors Dinitale and Mazzarella for being proactive, unlike Worcester Mayor Joe Petty who is too busy cutting ribbons at hotels that no one will ever sleep in. The sign is perfect and sends the right message – if you’re feeling generous and want to help poor people then giving these morons money is not the solution. They’ll just spend it on heroin and booze which will ultimately kill them. People who give money to panhandlers are assisting in their demise.
Naturally a social justice warrior named Christi Frink has started this Change.org petition to get rid of the signs because they are “dehumanizing”:
These signs are problematic because of the use of a real human instead of a silhouette or other image. They are offensive and dangerous because they dehumanize panhandlers as well as impoverished individuals. Panhandlers and impoverished people, particularly the homeless, are already more likely to be the victims of crime. Dehumanizing imagery will increase their chances of being victimized by causing the community to view them more negatively than they are already viewed. Taking down these signs will improve the treatment of panhandlers and impoverished peoples. Removing these signs will also make our community appear more compassionate.
First of all, it’s addressed to State Senator Jen Flanagan, who represents Leominster and is a turtle rider and all around good legislator. She has literally nothing to do with the sign and zero control over it. But then again facts always get in the way of a social justice warrior crusade.
Secondly, what the hell is this hippie nonsense that I just read? Panhandlers will be viewed negatively? Their feelings will be hurt? Ok…and? Panhandlers shouldn’t feel good about themselves.
She’s a white “progressive” woman from Dover, New Hampshire who thinks that supporting this racist terrorist movement means that she gets to alleviate her white guilt. It’s just so predictable. As are posts like this:
God these people are the worst. This is like Trigglypuff all over again. Newsflash – telling yourself that you’re beautiful and healthy is not a recommended alternative to exercise and good eating habits. It’s actually detrimental.
But it makes social justice warriors like Christi Frink feel good about themselves, and ultimately their only goal is to constantly feel good about themselves. They do it by sharing black lives matter propaganda, telling themselves they are beautiful, and complaining about signs that are “dehumanizing” drug addicts. They pretend to care about other people, but ultimately it’s all about making themselves feel better.
The Sentinel and Enterprise interviewed Christi Frink and she somehow managed to make herself look more ridiculous:
“This is an image of someone dressed down, has scruffy facial hair and looks almost dirty,” she said. “That is the image the sign portrays.” She said that if a homeless person sees it, “it not only affects how people treat you, but how you feel about yourself.
Newsflash – panhandlers don’t give a shit about that sign. They’re not sensitive butthurts from New Hampshire like you. They live on the streets and give handjobs for crack money. Their feelings are not as easily hurt as your’s.
And even if it did hurt their feelings, who cares? Drug addicted panhandlers shouldn’t feel good about themselves. They should feel the exact opposite. Criminals should be shamed into behaving. Fat people should be shamed into exercising. Panhandlers should be shamed into getting a job. But then again we can see from Christi Frink’s post about being beautiful, that her primary concern is urging people who are clearly in need of serious life changes to believe that everything is going just fine.
Here’s the truth though. If we want black people to stop getting shot by the police then we should be encouraging all people to stop resisting arrest. If we want people to feel good about their bodies then we should be encouraging people to exercise and stop eating Moe’s. If we want to help panhandlers get off the streets then we should be encouraging people to stop enabling them with drug money. Smart people understand this. SJW’s like Christin Frink don’t.
Oh yea, and according to the Sentinel the panhandlers don’t give a shit, and the panhandler in the picture voluntarily posed for it:
“Kevin MacLean, director of homeless services for Our Father’s House in Fitchburg, worked with both mayors and police departments on the campaign to curb people giving money to panhandlers. MacLean knows many of the panhandlers personally and said he has not heard them, or anyone else, voice concern about the imagery of the sign. MacLean said he even took the photograph of the man on the sign in 2004 and received the man’s permission to use his image.”
That’s just too perfect. Social justice warriors are trying to protect a man’s feelings who could care less about his own feelings. See that? Kevin MacLean is someone who is ACTUALLY doing work to help homeless people. He volunteers his time and knows what he is talking about because of his extensive experience with helping homeless people. Meanwhile the Christi Frink SJW’s of the world are saying stuff like this:
“If the imagery was different, this wouldn’t be an issue for me, personally,” she said. “The image is disgusting and needs to be taken down.”
Translation – she’s helping no one. She’s actually doing the exact opposite – enabling drug addicts because it makes her feel good about herself. And she has people agreeing with her:
First of all, if you’re working 35 hours a week at a minimum wage job you definitely don’t have $200 a week taken out in taxes. That’s just a bold faced lie. Secondly, the reason you’re working 35 hours instead of 40 is because your employer doesn’t wanna be forced to pay for your health insurance. Thirdly, maybe you could make more money if you weren’t working at Sounds and Tones Records and living in boonieville USA:
Most importantly the “system” is already set up so that poor people have to pay the least amount of taxes. The rich pay the vast, vast majority of taxes in this country, followed close behind by the middle class. But once again, facts are overrated when dealing with delicate sunflowers like Mary, who might as well be the poster child for sheltered white SJW’s looking for things to be offended by.
This is the dumbest thing ever written on the Internet. “No one is poor by choice.” There are actually people dumb enough to believe this.
Newsflash – homelessness is not the root of the problem. Addiction is. Homelessness is a symptom of that. But please, shit on the church a little bit more. Because Kevin MacLean is the only one who seems to be actively trying to help these people, and he’s doing so as a representative of the church. In Worcester it’s St. John’s church and Father John Madden leading the charge with their soup kitchen on Temple Street. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Theresa were also church leaders who did things to actually help the poor instead of looking for things to be offended by.
Here’s an idea for Christi Frink and company – offer up a bedroom in your house for the panhandlers. Problem solved. They’ll have a nice place to stay, and I’m sure they’ll get clean and get jobs so they can get their own place and be independent adults.
But of course they’d never do that because they’re all talk and no action. Whining about being mean to poor people is fun, but actually helping poor people out requires time and effort. Much easier to just shit on people who are actually trying to make a difference.
P.S. I love how a counter petition to keep the signs up was just created this morning and already has double the amount of signatures.
