Earlier today we exposed Niko Poulakidas, the Woburn High School student who sought out sports reporter Mike Lupica, and intentionally lied to him about being in the bleachers at the Red Sox-Orioles game, and hearing a fan call Adam Jones the n word.
Of course we proved he wasn’t there because of two obvious lies he told:
- He said the peanut throwing guy was the same person as the n word guy, and that he was in the bleachers, even though the peanut guy was behind third base.
- He said the beer vendor refused to sell booze to the man, even though there are no beer vendors in the bleachers:
“The vendor selling beer up and down the crowd refused to serve him,” the kid said. “When the vendor got to the guy behind me, he said, ‘Bunch of —-ing dopes down there.”
Kirk and Callahan assumed this was all a prank and that he’d come clean. We knew he was being serious though. This isn’t a prank. It’s just a desperate appeal for attention for a high school senior. We know this because Niko messaged us on Twitter and insisted we were wrong:
So young, but already a legal expert. “Defamation of a minor on media is considered bullying.” LOL. Good one. This kid obviously thinks what he did was harmless. It’s not. He furthered a narrative in this country that Boston is a hostile place for black athletes. This hinders our chances of signing free agents (many like Barry Bonds said they would never play here because we’re the most racist city in America). This escalates racial tensions in this country. This delegitimizes actual cases of racism. This isn’t some harmless prank, and you’re not protected because you’re 17. You went out of your way to seek the spotlight, and now you’ve got it.
Oh yea, and I love how all of a sudden the vendor wasn’t a beer vendor anymore. Much like Adam Jones, his story keeps changing when he is presented with facts.
Anyway, he says he has a picture of himself at the game. Surely this could clear things up right?
Wait……what? It’s a picture of your eyes, and some random green Fenway metal in the background. There’s no date or time. The sun is out, which is weird because the game against the Orioles was a NIGHT GAME. Who doesn’t have a picture of themselves at Fenway at some point in time? So why was he there during the daylight then? Don’t worry, he’s got an answer for that too:
Ah yes, batting practice. These lies keep getting better and better.
At this point he kind of gave up on denying it and pulled out the “please don’t call me mean words” card:
Then his story took yet another turn when he told us that he got the beer vendor wrong because he switched seats:
Oh I see. So he somehow moved from the bleachers to the box seats, which is the only place in Fenway that sells beer in the seats. And yet he still heard this guy call Adam Jones the n word from even FURTHER away. Yup, this story checks out.
Then he got desperate and started begging that we take the story down:
As you can see, we offered to take the blog down if he publicly admitted that the whole thing was a lie. Seems fair. That’s when he started with the “people are threatening my house” excuse:
No one is threatening your house. Just another lie. He thought he could get a little attention from Mike Lupica and then he didn’t like the backlash he got from being an obvious liar. Boo-hoo.
Then he started thinking about our offer and asked us if he thought people would get off his back if he came clean:
But of course he’s too scared to come forward and didn’t think he signed up for any of this, so he played the “It’s not fair” card:
And when that failed he reverted to the age old “cyber bullying is against the law” schtick:
Anyway, the most insane part about this story continues to be the way the mainstream media blindly took the word of a high school senior whose story was easily debunked with two seconds of googling. Mike Lupica is an award winning journalist who has published many leather bound books. He’s kind of a big deal. Millions have read this kid’s version of events and used it to confirme their preconceived notion that racism is rampant in Boston. Obviously the MSM doesn’t want to investigate the veracity of these claims, because they want it to be true. But the only news outlet consistently looking for the truth continues to be Turtleboy Sports.
