The Fruit Center Marketplace in Hingham has been around for three generations, and is a very popular place to get locally grown fruit and vegetables amongst other things. It’s won awards several times as one of the best places to work, and was recently voted as such by the Boston Globe.
On Indeed former employees give it rave reviews, with the only score less than perfect coming from a guy whose biggest complaint was no free food. Owned by brother Michael and Mark Mignosa there are many people in Hingham who have worked here for many years with no complaints:
The Fruit Center was my first job. I started at the age of 15 and worked until 30. I learned so much from the staff there. I took a lot of my teachings there and apply them today at my current job. They are a family owned company that is extremely involved in the community. I wish there were more stores that modeled after the Mignosa family.
They do charity races and other fundraisers, and are a contributing partner with the community at large.
They’ve aligned with this little girl to organize sock donations for the homeless.
Their employees on Facebook seem happy to be there, and are a variety of ages, races, and genders, including mothers.
For that reason they thrive, especially since they’re a locally based store selling fresh fruit in a part of the state that is very liberal and wealthy. Generally organic food stores don’t thrive in blue collar Trump country or shitholes like Lawrence because the food is more expensive, and these people generally prefer food that is microwaved or deep fried. There’s a reason you see Whole Foods in places like Newton, Hadley, and Brookline, and not in places like Dorchester, Worcester, or Lynn.
Hingham is a very wealthy town, and the kind of place where people are desperate to transcend their perceived white privilege. The kind of place where people can prove they’re one of the “good ones” and do their part to fix racism by forming a mob and going after a token evil racist white guy. Plus, this is where Maude the Fraud is from, and everyone there pretty much ate up that narcissistic pathological liar’s tall tales one after another.
So you could imagine what would happen if all of a sudden a place like this was accused of racism and wage discrimination. Then right on cue a young Latina woman with a hyphenated last name posted a completely unsubstantiated story about her time working there on Facebook and the mob did what the mob does.
Sounds pretty serious. She must have some evidence to back this up.
So someone called a Latina woman the n word, and she wasn’t there to hear it.
Sure, it makes absolutely no sense for a racist individual to call a Latina woman the n word, since there are existing racial slurs a racist person could call a Latina. Sure, it makes no sense how a place with such a stellar reputation could maintain that reputation while employing someone who was so comfortable with his bigotry that he would liberally use the n word in front of employees and think nothing of it. But she posted it on Facebook so it must be true.
Again, she never heard him say the n word, and we have no idea if he actually said the things she’s alleging since he hasn’t been given the forum to defend himself. Also, no one is a “victim” of remarks. Someone saying mean words about you (which she has no evidence actually happened) doesn’t make you a victim in any way, shape, or form. If you actually spent nights crying about it then you are a weak individual who is not even remotely ready to enter the real world. Please wear a helmet wherever you go and retreat to your safe space.
She has third hand stories of sexual harassment.
Oh look, another unconfirmed anecdote posted on a community Facebook page. Must be true.
She also has complaints about wages.
You were a teenager working at a fruit store. You don’t get automatic raises like a teacher or a cop. It’s not supposed to be a permanent job. You work there for beer money. You are an unskilled laborer who can be replaced in a heartbeat. They owe you nothing except for the wage you originally signed up for.
Turns out she could’ve gotten a raise but she was too scared to stand up for herself.
Again, she provides nothing to corroborate that any of these conversations happened, but if they did it would still be her own doing for agreeing to work at that wage for that long. If you don’t like your pay then you find an employer who pays more. Pretty simple.
When you search Tricia Sanchez-Martinez on the Google machine the first thing that comes up is this:
Oh look, she wants $5,000 for tuition because she got into a “top university” that she doesn’t name in the GoFundMe she started for herself. Remember when kids took out loans to go college? Now they just panhandle and see nothing wrong with it whatseover. Just a reminder, she lives in Hingham. Poor people don’t live in Hingham. Nevertheless, she’s elected to play the single mom, working two jobs, and trying to go to top university card for pity.
This is the employee who told her a second hand story about the manage calling her the n word, even though she’s not black.
Look who’s in his profile picture.
He says it’s not his girlfriend, which more than likely means he thinks this little stunt will win her over once she realizes what a good guy he is. Sorry dude, life is not a Disney movie. She just wants to be friends. Forever.
This is a former employee shitting on her former employer. I’ve been there before, I just didn’t have Facebook when I did. You go through temporary jobs, you always think your boss is an asshole, and you don’t get paid much. This is why these jobs are temporary. But for the owners it is their livelihood. When you use a community forum like this to hurt them without any evidence at all, you can do a lot of damage. And 99% of the almost exclusively white people who commented on her post blindly believed her, slammed the business they’d going to for years, vowed to boycott it, and patted themselves on the back for fixing racism.
So many people were gushing about her “bravery” and courage for coming forward.
Newsflash – there is nothing brave about this whatsoever. She’s a jilted former employee who slammed her former boss on social media, rather than take appropriate actions. There are avenues to follow when these sort of allegations are made. Instead of doing that she chose to take to Facebook. That is the definition of gutless.
Keep in mind, they call this page Hingham Pinboard 2.0 because a bunch of college and high school kids were kicked out of Hingham Pinboard for doing exactly this – slamming former employers. The rational adults in town realized how dangerous this sort of mob mentality can be and didn’t want to host it. So all the gullible, virtue signaling adults went to the kid’s page where they blindly believe everything a bunch of 19 year olds say.
Some, who said they had nothing but great experiences working there, announced they would no longer be shopping at Fruit Center.
Because who cares about first hand experiences when you see a stranger post something on Facebook?
Tricia says she’s going to the local news with her story.
Because even someone her age knows that the MSM will eat up a story like this without asking any questions. Her agenda is clear – get revenge on her former employer who probably made her work and didn’t let her sit on her cell phone all day. The horror.
Unfortunately for her the realest media in town was also tagged, and we are the only media outlet that is actually concerned with the truth, and doesn’t blindly believe everything an online mob says.
As you can see, Will Sutton didn’t want us covering the story because we’re not “balanced.”
According to him we “never actually get the facts, and “rely exclusively on rumors,” even though that is exactly what this mob was doing right now by not demanding facts, and relying exclusively on rumors.
Except we ALWAYS get the facts. Just ask the Boston Globe, who credited us with single handedly exposing the rampant corruption in State Police history, leading to the resignation of the Colonel, Deputy Colonel, two Lts, a drug dealing state trooper, and the arrest of many more.
Plus, Will Sutton already claimed dibs on this story.
He writes for the Hingham High School newspaper, and Wicked Local lets him occasionally publish puff pieces like this, so naturally he thinks he’s a real journalist now. Of course Gatehouse Media publications like Wicked Local are well known for firing experienced reporters and replacing them with unskilled clickbait people like Will who will work for less money. Kind of like what this whole thread is allegedly about.
She claims that employees are not allowed to publicly slam the company.
Ya know, like every workplace ever. Generally employers don’t like it when their employees try to publicly damage their business.
Then this brilliant scholar chimed in at the Fruit Center was violating the Constitution by doing so.
I thought you had to be smart to have enough money to live in Hingham, but evidently you can just marry someone who is. Oh, and social media isn’t public either:
This of course brought out other jilted millenials, upset with their former employer, who shared their unconfirmed anecdotes.
Any evidence? Nope. But facts and proof are overrated anyway. Does “I know first hand” count?
It does on Facebook!
Some brave souls who did have a positive experience working there were quickly lambasted for viewing these baseless accusations with their white privilege glasses on.
There is nothing these people hate more than evidence and due process. It’s why they all blindly believed Maude and Christine Blasey-Ford. Because the allegations fit their narrative.
Whenever someone suggested that the Facebook court of public opinion isn’t the best way to handle a situation like this they were quickly shot down by brave white women.
Yea, call the owner and “demand action” rather than find out if any of this is actually true. It’s not “rocket science!!”
Turns out Kevin actually served in the military, and when he was deployed the Fruit Center supported him.
But yea, I’m gonna believe the angry 20 year old over the adult who served his country.
Others pointed out how he should be ashamed that he wants to wait for the facts before deciding whether or not any of this is legitimate.
When someone suggested that the Indeed reviews indicated that former employees seemed to like their job, they were quickly attacked too.
Except, 1) it’s anonymous so if an employee wanted to slam them they could, 2) these people used to work there, and are free to say whatever they want. They choose to say positive things. But I guess Facebook is more trusted than Indeed, and if you question Tricia’s story you are a corporate shill.
Tricia did not like the fact that a grand total of two people were questioning her and playing “devil’s advocate” by not blindly believing things strangers post on Facebook. According to Tricia these people were “victim backlashing.”
Oh you poor thing. The word you’re looking for is victim “bashing” or “blaming,” also it’s “you’re,” and you’re not a victim in any way, shape, or form, even if this was true.
Tricia mentioned that she had text messages that could prove that everything she was saying was true. But when asked to post them she said she could not for “legal purposes” due to the ongoing “investigation.”
If you didn’t think she was full of shit by this point, now you know. There are no “legal purposes.” There is no lawsuit. Funny how her imaginary lawyer has no problem posting allegations with no evidence, but she can’t make allegations WITH evidence. She knows the mob doesn’t need evidence.
People were wicked upset that someone would demand proof.
We don’t have time for proof!! We’re too busy virtue signaling!!
Obviously Amy is a bigot for choosing to question this woman’s unconfirmed, and highly contradicted story.
Hey everyone, Susan Rayburn is blindly believing this woman. She’s one of the “good ones.” Does anyone have a cookie we can give her? So woke.
Then there was Captain Santa Claus.
According to him he is a lawyer, but according to things he posted you’d have to be out of your mind to ever hire this man.
Yes, that’s right. He ordered whoever runs the page not to take down a post or else they’d be charged with obstruction of justice.
I couldn’t stop laughing when I read that last night. Destruction of evidence by deleting a Facebook post. Wow. Just wow.
I’m not saying this guy isn’t a lawyer, but if he is he has completely lost his mind.
You’d be much, much, much better off hiring Attorney Richard N. Vulva, and all he has is a Facebook page.
He was far from the only legal expert though.
Does this look like a woman who doesn’t know her way around a courtroom?
Sleuth Bater Ginsburg knows a LOT of powerful people, and evidently she has already passed this case on to Maura Healey herself.
Next came Howie, who said that anyone who worries about mob mentality is the same thing as the Charlottesville Nazis.
Anyone who DARES to question an anecdote is “toxic, ignorant,” and “shameful,” and certainly will not get a direct response from Bootleg Anthony Bourdain.
Luckily he came armed with links from such credible sources as Vox.
Here’s an idea – contact the owner directly? No, that’s not allowed either.
Yea Janeenee – are you even a lawyer like Ruthanne here?
If not, I suggest you stop sharing opinions on social media.
Turns out it’s pointless to address people directly in Hingham because the entire town is racist.
Hey Janet – here’s a though. Maybe the 5 principals, superintendent, police officers, and guidance counselor thought your uncorroborated insanity was the literal bullshit that it was. Luckily you’re filthy rich and can send your kids to BC High, where magically no one is racist.
Don’t worry though guys – if the post gets deleted Screenshot Shanahan over here has got you covered for the big lawsuit.
Since it’s evidently a rule that you can damage a local business on this page without any proof or evidence TB Rider elected to do the same to see what would happen. Screenshot Shanahan was quick to go tell the teacher!!
A tale of two screenshots. Syria bad.
Orange man who pulled troops out of Syria also bad.
Since the two owners do not have Facebook they were not able to defend themselves in this public square witch trial. But the marketing director did show up, and said that he was treating this seriously.
But rule #1 when dealing with a SJW mob is never, ever give them anything. Because it will never be enough.
Yea, how DARE you say you’re investigating the validity of these charges. It’s true. Period. Because a woman wrote it on Facebook. End of discussion. I can’t imagine why anyone would make something like this up. It’s not as if she could’ve gotten misinformation, or she has some sort of axe to grind with a former employer. It’s just gotta be true.
Andyway, it’s worked out well for Tricia since her “bravery” has led to some networking opportunities.
This was all just fun and games for her. She gets mad at her former boss and tries to destroy the legitimate business they’ve invested everything into. They pay taxes, provide a public service, and give back to the community. But a chick wrote something on Facebook so we must destroy them now.
