So last month the City of Worcester put out this computer generated video of what Worcester is gonna look like in 2020. It’s basically all gentrified and nice looking, but it’s missing a couple important elements. For instance, in Worcester in 2020 there are apparently no junkies. Ya got that? They all disappeared. It’s just such typical nonsense from the Jim McGovern/Ed Augustus/Joe Petty cheerleading team and we didn’t even bother blogging about. But then today someone sent us this hilarious parody remake of the video, and it’s a must watch:
Perfect. That’s exactly what will happen in real life. You can build a million hotels and new buildings that don’t match any of the surrounding architecture, but as long as Tracy Novick’s finest are still around it’s all gonna turn to shit. No one wants to live in a luxury condo across the street from the WRTA bus stop. Businesses don’t want to open if normal people with disposable income aren’t willing to go down there because they will get accosted by panhandlers. At the end of the day it will all just be filled with section 8 and non-profits.
P.S. Love the “Gasolino” blasting in the background as they walk down Main Street.

This all looks the same as it did when I was last here in 1989.
Dying!
I was waiting for TurtleBoy to bring up that video because the original was so damned delusional that it comes off as comical. At least this version is meant to be funny, because it’s so damned true.
The city won’t change as long as the politics in City Hall remain stay the same.
Love the gun shots in the background. I didn’t see the new Mosaic location though or were they given the glass tower from the new Mayor, Joseph Petty Jr?
Did Gaffney commission this one?
Wow, This is great! Did a certain City Councilman commission this one?
By 2020, it’s a safe bet that there won’t be any people left to get on the train out of Worcester. Hope the last one that left turned all the lights out.
So, folks driving in the middle of the day throughout Worcester will still be driving 90s sedans in 2020? I see not much has changed.
I also like how two people got off the train, implying that no one else has any reason to ever come to the Woo. Rock on.
That was good. You can the beggars in the background at first. Funny stuff.
Isn’t that the truth. “Watch out for that syringe”. Great video
ICP meth heads… Fuckin hilarious!
The guys who made that video…. It’s like they got inside my head and listened to my thoughts…
Wow that was too real hahaha
Where’s the grafitti ??? Where’s the turtleboy fountain??? And more importantly, where’s the lighted basketball courts so residents can play midnight basketball, as well as, a skateboard park on the common ???
