Last week we got back both the Turtleboy Sports Forever, and Turtleboy Sports (fan page) back after they were unpublished. Turns out you just have to hit the appeal button hundreds of times and eventually it works. We basically employed the same tactics as the people who declared Jihad on our pages in the first place.
But when a page is republished after being unpublished it’s not really safe. Facebook flags these pages and they’re much easier to take down. So what we did was we created 2 blank pages (named Turtleboy Sports Forever and Turtleboy Sports) while our pages were being appealed. They had no followers and no negative history with Facebook, so they were safe. And as soon as we got our pages back we just merged the old Turtleboy Sports Forever page with the new blank one (which is much safer from attack because it hasn’t been flagged yet) and our 18,200 followers went to the new TBS Forever.
The problem is that we lose all of our old Facebook Live videos and posts. The other problem is that it appears as if we are now shadowbanned. Shadow banning is something Facebook does, but claims they don’t do. It’s when they change their algorithms so that your page doesn’t come up on your follower’s feeds. So most of you who have follows the TBS Forever page aren’t seeing it, and as a result engagement is way down.
For instance, today we wrote a blog about a Worcester stripper in her mid-40’s who got tossed out the club because she made a scene about their tip policy. Then she showed up on the Turtleboy Sports Facebook page talking about Internet lawsuits:
This is how you know the page is being shadow banned – because this is GOLD!! It’s not every day a stripper shows up to defend her honor in the comments section. When they do show up it usually brings dozens and dozens of hilarious turtle riding commentary.
But none of you saw it because the page is shadow banned. We were also adding about 3,000 people every week to our page before the merge. Now we’re adding 500. Obviously something is going on.
This is why it’s important for you to follow (not friend request) this guy:
Clarence Woods Emerson is the Turtleboy personal account. There’s actually 3 Clarences so feel free to follow them all. Clarence does not get unpublished, but he does get suspended for 30 days at a time every now and then. That’s why he’s got the two other Clarence accounts. But personal accounts do not get shadow banned. They’re also favored by Facebook’s newest algorithms so they’re more likely to come up in your newsfeed.
With that said, on tomorrow night’s episode of Turtleboy Live we will be broadcasting from the Clarence Woods Emerson account with Uncle Turtleboy and Intern Turtle. We’ve never tried doing this before, but anything’s worth a shot. So join the thousands of others who have already FOLLOWED (no need to fried request) Clarence so you can keep up with the turtle and continue to get the hot takes in your feed.
