Some kid jumped off the 4th floor of the Edward Brooke Courthouse in Boston today apparently:
I remember this happened a few years ago in Worcester too:
But he only jumped from the third floor, and he lived. No word on the status of today’s jumper, but according to the Globe he’s a teenager. Update – we are told the teenager passed away. Pretty twisted that a child would feel the need to do something like that. I hope it wasn’t because of something that happened in juvenile court. I don’t know the child’s background, but to do something like this you have to feel extremely helpless. It’s tragic to think that if this kid was born 10 miles away he probably wouldn’t have had the psychological issues that he had growing up in Suffolk County.
No word on if he was there for court for himself or someone else, but when you build courthouses like that you’re basically asking for this to happen. I realize it’s too late to go back and change that, but what were they thinking? Who do these architects think goes to court every day? When you put balconies like that it’s an invitation for someone to jump or get pushed over. Sure, it looks cool and all, but this is a courthouse, not a mall. This whole “modern” look is all part of the gentrification bullshit that takes over every time a city says they want to have a “renaissance.” They think aesthetically instead of thinking functionally. There is absolutely no reason for a courthouse to be shaped like this. Ever.

This is f-n hilarious. We can’t do anything to restrict guns — which are designed to do one thing: kill — because freedom, but we must outlaw balconies in courthouses cuz think of the children!!!
Another one bits the dust and the Judge Connolly Center gets cheated out of another inmate in training.
I know I should feel bad about another young life snuffed out but reality and experience have hardened the heart to an extent.
The courthouse has no flaws in its construction. Bright, open spaces and sufficient altitude to crash dive from.
Taxpayers saved money with the off the shelf shopping mall design. They just upscaled it with marble like the Copley Place mall, yet shoppers are still more Victoria Secret than Agent Provocateur.
Darwinism at it’s best.
Do any of you feel dumber after reading this conversation I sure do don’t bother arguing with ass hat soy boy He will never get it
Ass hat Union Carpenter deadbeats like you don’t get it I guess.I’m arguing the fact that it’s not the buildings or the architects fault for lil shit bum swan diving 4 floors and yes I’m the perfect person to defend this site exposing piece of shits like you so take everyone of your empty tool bag friends and go jump in front of the e train cuck boy
He’s not even dead. Fact check anyone?
Hey soy boy you are obviously a fucking moron and have no idea what you are arguing about. You don’t know meant all and call me a liberal. Fuck you. You seem to be the perfect person to defend this site that does nothing but insult the lowlifes of the world. Cheap and easy. So you can get fucked too.
Ok, so we build 1story court houses and the shit stain runs out into traffic in front of a car and ruins somebody elses life. Fuck off!
hey ass hat union carpenter why don’t you go hammer a 9 inch nail through your dick hole you idiot you know what we respect Ourselves and authority you loony liberal‘s don’t seem to have any moral standards you think it’s the fucking buildings fault that this little puke threw himself off the fourth floor no I don’t think so don’t worry we won’t raise our kids to be a little shit balls like you fuck heads so take everyone of your soy boy Friends hold hands and jump off the Brag bridge so you tool bags can blame that the bridge is too high
Buildings don’t kill people.
Floors do.
None of you turtle writers must have children. Let’s hope you don’t reproduce anyway. There doesn’t seem to be anything you fucks have respect for. Ps get fucked.
Go give another sack of dough to a socialist, union scum. No one gives a fuck what you red bastards think.
We have children, Dickhole. We have just raised them not be shitbags.
Go suck start a shotgun.
No video??!! Shit!
I demand we raze all buildings over 1 story. Trump and his ilk caused this!
I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion to Turtle Riders, but it is idiotic to blame the layout of the building for this. Come on now. If the kid wanted to off himself, he would have found a way either way. Blaming the structure of the courthouse is dumb.
Edward Brooke was a black Republican. So they should rename the courthouse The Unicorn Courthouse.
Yup. Don’t make the courthouse even close to being a pleasant place, cuz someone might hurt themselves.
Why not just put up bars? Get the criminal used to the view. At least this idiot saved the taxpayers the cost of a trial. Too bad it doesn’t happen more often.
Permanent solution to a temporary problem. Unfortunate, but, if were being totally honest, probably saved the taxpayers a shit ton of money in the long run.
Chances are high that this wouldn’t have been his last court appearance had he not face-planted.
How does it work in Massachusetts? The accused dies before the case is adjudicated so is found not guilty? Isn’t that what caused the big dust up with Arron Hernandez?
It’s dumb to build Courts with with too many floors and atriums to make it look nice no I’m sorry that’s fucking ridiculous it’s dumb to let these little entitled fuck stains Walk around and think that they don’t have to be responsible or held accountable for their actions Guess what millennials if you jump from the fourth floor Of any building you’re probably gonna crack your fucking skull and die I feel bad for the little puke but maybe if you start teaching You’re little crotch fruits some moral standards and to respect themselves they won’t want to throw themselves from any story building
Isaac Newton wins every time..
Impressive Rev. Sir Isaac’s second law. Force equals mass X acceleration……
If you’re that fucking stupid, or mentally ill to jump from the 4th floor onto concrete, nothing else is going to prevent you from doing something another day , put a trampoline and monkey bars up there, who gives a shit? Let ’em have fun !
I blame gravity.
It’s not the fall that gets you, it’s that sudden stop at the end . . . .
Years ago, they called this Pulling or Doing a Brodie. Steve Bodie, supposedly on July 23, 1886 jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge and survived.
In the 1946 noir film The Dark Corner (starring Lucille Ball and Mark Stevens), a Taxi Driver, when asked about William Bendix’s gangster character falling to his death, said he “Never saw anyone ever pull a Brodie and bounce.”
What an unbelievably stupid write-up.
Sympathies to the family….it is tough having someone you love have a mental illness
A makeshift memorial is in order.
I’ll bring the candles with the Virgin Mary and Jesus on them.
If you’re coming along, be a sport and pick up some Dollar General stuffed animals, please. Maybe a couple of Mylar balloons, too.
And then get ready to rumble a couple of years later when someone else dies at the same spot and the new crew gets rid of and covers over the old one. On the 10/202 in Holyoke going up the hill from Westfield there are so many markers that sometimes new ones are in the exact same place as the old ones. The new ones tend to win.
There’s a railroad underpass on Union St in Westfield. Somebody died the memorial went up. A couple of years later somebody else died in the exact same spot. The crew of the newly deceased dumped the memorial of the previous deceased.
Don’t ever take a memorial down. Near Noble Hospital in Westfield someone hit a tree on private property and died. The homeowner being a kind hearted soul let them put up a memorial between the tree and fence. A couple of years later the tree was getting rotten and the homeowner took it down. The memorial went with it. The kind hearted homeowner had turned into a heartless bastard.
I am familiar with the ones on 10/202. Both sides of the hill are littered with them. Wreathes, crosses, etc.
Architects propose something they don’t dictate it. Especially at this level. My guess is the openness (and many public buildings are just as open) is too convey that openness to the public as if to say
“Nothing to hide”. A committee proposed a general design theme and then looked at different renderings and the whys of a building before deciding.
Good looking building. A lot better than having courtrooms off of narrow hallways. Everybody would be calling the building “The Bunker”.
We’re actually going to blame the building for this?
It’s never the person. If “They” had designed a different building all those suicides at this building would never have taken place. “All those” being a count of 1 in 19 years.
The original Repo Man movie:
Duke:
The lights are growing dim Otto. I know a life of crime has led me to this sorry fate, and yet, I blame society. Society made me what I am.
Otto:
That’s bullshit. You’re a white suburban punk just like me.
Duke:
Yeah, but it still hurts.
Iggy Pop nailed the theme song.” I didn’t get fucked and I didn’t get kissed, I got so fucking pissed”
The whole soundtrack is gold.
“It’s tragic to think that if this kid was born 10 miles away he probably wouldn’t have had the psychological issues that he had growing up in Suffolk County.“
Ha! Oh yeah, you suburbanites from Merrimack Valley to Worcester and Springfield to Fall River seem so well adjusted and behaved. Do you even read the fucking blog for which you write? Have some more meth and go get someone pregnant.
TB Sports “to the Globe he’s a teenager. Update – we are told the teenager passed away” which contains a link to the Globe. A little later “Pretty twisted that a child would feel the need to do something like that.”
“A teenager being prosecuted for domestic violence…..” starts off the Globe article.
So, would it be twisted if he was tying someone up and burning them with a lit cigarette? Using a girl friend as a punching bag? Beating up his Grandmother? A bit early for “”Pretty twisted that a child would feel the need to do something like that.” I guess this blogger falls into the “He dinna due nuffin” category and “Free my boi!!!” Why would this child be facing issues with domestic violence?
In other news, Matthew Borges who was 15 when he allegedly beheaded Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino is getting underway. Nothing but a mere child when this happened. They should let him go.
Good Riddance, hope the YUTE dies and saves us all years Of future crime and having to pay for three squares
“Whatsa YUTE?”
If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Great reference. My Cousin Vinny.
Case dismissed….
Wonder why ? If he was charged with a crime he would have been found not guilty under racist rachel rollins free all criminals rules. Suffolk county voters are going to regret the day this black lives matter terrorist became DA.
Rollins was just elected last November, and has a reputation of being a real hardass when it comes to violent, domestic and trafficking crimes. Just say you don’t like her because she’s black, don’t be a pussy. Free yourself.
How about illegal guns, fentanyl, border jumpers, and no speakies? Still a “hardass”? Didn’t think so.
This is what happens to generation “special”. With no accountability and no obligation to be anything even remotely self supporting, “Mommies little special” is a Worldstarsupial until things don’t go their way. Like the Emerson College story with the Bimpstacious Gruffalo and the “I Believe Her” victim-sisterhood, please let me tell the majority of these losers that YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL. If you were unpopular in the 4th grade, a social misfit and unproductive blob of flesh in you growing years, YOU ARE Still NOT SPECIAL regardless of what Mommy told you. An I-Phone 10 and a Facebook account, a bottle of Hennessey or a Fentanyl load isn’t going to change that. Shut up, sit down and get to work. In nature, there are more worker bees than Beyoncé. Or have the balls to take the plunge (hopefully from a higher floor.)
The building has been there for 19 years.
Unless they’ve been offing themselves with regularity the building stays as is.
As if the old buildings weren’t open to giant atriums.
Maybe we should put chicken wire netting up on every structure with a drop more than 6 feet.
Teens can abort a human life at any time. Charlie Baker is ensuring it.
He aborted himself. I wish he hadn’t done this but he did.
How about them Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins?
Who do you think will be the first draft pick for the Patriots?
Because this will be a nothingburger to everyone not involved in less than 24 hours.
Down vote me, call me a dick. In a day you are going to forget this ever happened.
‘ When you build courthouses like that you’re basically asking for this to happen” Are you fucking serious?. You can’t make things idiot proof, you just make new improved idiots.
OSHA stats tell us that most fatalities from falls occur at 4 feet. So nothing should be designed > 4 feet?
How can you be sure he jumped? I would look at the video. RIP, prayers for the families.
” It’s tragic to think that if this kid was born 10 miles away he probably wouldn’t have had the psychological issues that he had growing up in Suffolk County.”
what?
you truly are a fucking moron shell shocker. so he couldn’t go to the top of a parking garage and do the same thing? well fuck it they should never be built. as a matter of fact lets raze any building over 15ft tall. growing up in suffolk county causes mental issues? fucking idiotic statement. go fuck yourself for even blogging about this. actually go to the top of the nearest tall building and swan dive into a thimble of water.
Case & point
The tallest building should have bars on the windows just in case that can be unlocked for cleaning. To ensure that the window cleaners don’t try to kill themselves they should handcuffed to window washing gantry if on the outside of the building or to 2 co-workers if inside.
Of course what do you do if it’s a group effort on the inside and all 3 want to jump?
The part about moving 10 miles is fact and true if only he had lived 10 miles away his mental health would have been filled with lollipops and gumdrops.
The big problem isn’t with buildings it’s with bridges then buildings come in second, followed by cliffs and trees. Cliffs are a subcatagory including mountains, ravines, gorgeous, sinkholes, caves etc.
There will be no peace until all high spots are eliminated that’s what MLK was talking about when he said “Cant We All Just Get Along” and called for a level playing field. Level Playing Field, no high spots!
I have this argument all the time with people who argue that high spots are normal and it’s the low spots that are the problem.
“There will be no peace until all high spots are eliminated that’s what MLK was talking about when he said “Cant We All Just Get Along” and called for a level playing field. Level Playing Field, no high spots!”
I await the protesters outside the court house carrying “Level Playing Field, no high spots!” signs.
The most stressful thing that takes place in a parking garage is not remembering what floor you parked on….. much higher stakes at a court house and giving someone the opportunity to do something like this right outside the door of a juvenile court room is just not smart. Teenagers are (and always have been) the most selfish cohort on the planet and this story not that surprising when considering the series of poor choices he made to get there today. And while this teenager’s decision to end their life was a singular one…. the end result involved many more who witnessed it because of it’s very public location. I cried when I read this story and I hope that everyone who was directly affected by this tragedy can find a way to heal because nobody deserves to see that happen.
Vasquez was high on fentanyl.
