Erika Murray, the Blackstone House of Horrors Mom is finally going to trial, and the evidence against her is INSANE.
Just a reminder of what that house looked like when the cops raided it in 2014 and discovered 3 dead babies, a dead dog, a three year old covered in feces who couldn’t walk and had never been outside, and a 6 month old that had been on her back her entire life.
The most amazing part about this story was the mother’s Facebook page. Keep in mind, she had 7 children. Three were dead and two were neglected, and they would certainly have died if the cops didn’t get there. But the oldest two? She carried on with them like she was a regular, loving two parent Mom on Facebook.
She shared posters for missing children.
She shared GoFundMe’s because “no parent should have to lose their child.”
She voluntarily lost three.
She pretended to care when a 4 year old boy died in Blackstone.
While her three year old girl screamed for her in agony upstairs. Although she did tell the poor kid “no.”
She even posted about having a chore jar.
While her house was covered in feces and trash. How the 10 and 13 year old didn’t say something earlier about this is amazing. Kids talk. They had two perpetually crying children living in their little house. Yet they never mentioned having siblings at school, or said something to a teacher? That’s crazy.
It’s also crazy to think that this was over 4 years ago, so the poor older kids are now probably 17 and 14. She’s probably graduating from high school and will have to testify against her mother in court. The babies are now 7 and 4. Who knows where their development is at now, because I’m sure there are some serious long term physical and psychological effects of being neglected like that at such a young age.
That’s the part I’ll never understand about this. Why just the oldest two? Did she love them more? Look at this one:
“My youngest one.”
She had five kids who were younger than him. Five. It’s like in her mind she could only have two kids, but she liked raw dog so much she kept plopping them out anyway, and she treated them like an inconvenience that shit everywhere and eventually died from neglect.
One night she got rid of the two older kids and whined about being bored.
While two other children lay neglected in an upstairs bedroom.
But this was the most remarkable post of them all.
Here are some new developments.
A June 4 trial has been scheduled for a woman charged with murdering two of her babies, whose remains were found in 2014 in a squalid Blackstone home that came to be called the “house of horrors.” Judge Janet Kenton-Walker set the trial date for Erika L. Murray Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court at the request of Ms. Murray’s lawyer, Keith S. Halpern, and Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Hodgens. The lawyers said they expected the trial to be jury-waived.
Stop right there. She’s got Judge Janet Kenton-Walker, commonly known in the streets of Worcester as “let em walk walker.” A Deval Patrick appointee who is notoriously lenient, and believes that criminals deserve at least 8 or 9 mulligans before going to jail. Best thing Erika Murray could hope for.
Although Ms. Murray is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, Mr. Halpern said after the court hearing that state law prohibits a jury-waived trial on a charge of first-degree murder and that a bench trial in Ms. Murray’s case could only be held if the prosecution agreed that the most serious charge for which she could be found guilty would be second-degree murder. In addition to the murder charges, Ms. Murray, 35, is charged with two counts each of assault and battery on a child with substantial injury, reckless endangerment of a child and animal cruelty. Mr. Halpern is raising an insanity defense on her behalf, contending that she had a diminished mental capacity that rendered her incapable of premeditating or of forming the intent required for a murder conviction.
So it looks like she’s only gonna be charged with second degree murder. Because you can neglect five kids until three of them die and not be charged with first degree murder. Makes sense.
Ms. Murray’s former boyfriend, Ramon Rivera, 42, is under indictment on two counts each of assault and battery on a child with substantial injury, reckless endangerment of a child and animal cruelty and a single count of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute. He is to be tried separately.
This freaking guy.
If you hear him talk he’s obviously not all there. He also lived in the basement and seemed to have been her slave/forced sperm donor. According to Ray Rivera he wasn’t allowed out of the basement and didn’t even know he fathered seven children, and that he is a victim of abuse. When you hear him talk you realize that he’s mentally incapacitated, so as unbelievable as that sounds it may actually be true. This evil cumquat forced him to impregnate her so she could neglect and murder their offspring while carrying on like a regular mother of 2.
Here’s what the cops discovered.
Prosecutors said the neighbor was “horrified” by what she saw in the residence. “The upstairs was filthy beyond belief. There was an overwhelming stench of feces,” former Assistant District Attorney John Bradley said during an earlier court hearing in the case. While neighbors knew that the couple had two children, the 10-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, the woman discovered a 3-year-old girl and a 6-month-old girl upon entering the house, according to prosecutors. Mr. Bradley said the neighbor testified before the grand jury that the 3-year-old appeared “dipped in feces” and that feces also covered the walls and soiled diapers were stacked over a foot high. The neighbor called 911 and police found garbage piled throughout the house upon their arrival, according to prosecutors. Mr. Bradley described the 10-year-old’s bedroom as “having conditions similar to a landfill with trash and bottles piled as high as two feet.”
Shit on the walls and diapers to the ceiling.
If you’re squeamish don’t read this part.
On Sept. 10, 2014, as investigators continued to search the home for birth records or documents to identify the youngest two children, they discovered a dead baby with the placenta and umbilical cord still attached, stuffed inside a backpack in a bedroom closet, according to Mr. Bradley. A dead dog and the skeletal remains of another baby were found in the same closet, he said. The skeletal remains of a third child were found in another closet. The murder charges against Ms. Murray relate to the two dead babies found diapered and dressed in onesies.
While Ms. Murray initially told police that the 3-year-old and 6-month-old had been born at Milford Regional Medical Center, that was not true, according to Mr. Bradley, who said Ms. Murray gave birth to the two girls in the only bathroom in the house and that the children had “never been taken outside the home.” He said DNA testing showed that Mr. Rivera was the father of all seven children.
According to Mr. Bradley, the two youngest children were examined by a pediatrician at UMass Memorial Medical Center, who told investigators she had never seen such a case of neglect. He said the 3-year-old had no muscle tone and was unable to walk, talk or hold utensils and that the 6-month-old appeared to have been on her back for most of her life.
She got knocked up and had FIVE tub births on her own without any medical assistance. The one found with the placenta obviously died during birth, but likely would’ve lived if delivered at a hospital. The other four survived, which is why they were found with clothes on.
This is the most purely evil thing I’ve ever seen, and don’t tell me that she’s insane. You saw her Facebook posts. She carried on like a normal person. She just didn’t want to be the woman with more than two kids, so she hid her pregnancies and neglected her offspring until they died alone and frightened.
Her sleazy lawyer is trying to argue that they didn’t die from neglect. Luckily the judge isn’t buying that.
“Though there is little or no eyewitness or other evidence of neglect, abandonment or other maltreatment of the dead infants, the Commonwealth did present to the Grand Jury enough facts and circumstances to support a finding of probable cause that the children were born alive and that the defendant’s lack of care for them and the inhumane conditions she created and maintained for them to live in in that house caused their deaths,” Judge Frison wrote in her ruling.
The dead babies had onesies on. They obviously were born alive. They two living ones were covered in feces. They obviously died from neglect. Case closed.
If this woman ever sees the light of day I will forever have lost faith in the justice system in Massachusetts. If three dead babies, and two severely neglected children aren’t enough to get someone locked up for life, then what is?
