Breaking news: The State Police barracks in Brookfield will be remaining open permanently, despite the state’s efforts to close it later this week. Unlike the Telegram, which has reported that this is only temporary, Turtleboy Sports can report that it is in fact a permanent solution.
A few weeks back we blogged about how insane and dumb it was for the state to close the barracks. There’s a bunch of towns that C-3 patrols (New Braintree, Oakham, Barre, Hardwick), which are far away from any other state police barracks. And because these towns are so small, their resources are limited. Plus the Brookfield barracks has a jail where criminals are processed on their way to East Brookfield District Court.
Our blog about the closure was read over 20,000 times and got people talking. Basically the assholes in Boston think everything west of 495 is a joke and the people who live here don’t matter. But people got fired up about it and state representatives Berthiaume and Campanale, along with state senator Gobi, were adamant that the barracks remain open. They realized that we weren’t just gonna let them put less police presence around here, which led to this email, which TBS has gotten ahold of, from State Police Colonel Richard McKeon:
Keep telling me that the Turtleboy Sports Revolution isn’t an unstoppable force of nature. We force superintendents to resign, we get bathroom doors installed in high schools, and we keep state police barracks open. You did this Turtleboy Nation. You kept the streets safe. Well done!!

Great job turtleboy, and thanks again for all you do for humanity. Also, if people already don’t know, If it wasn’t for you working with Seal team 6 bin laden would still be on the loose, and your collaboration with Rumsfeld surely contributed toppling saddams beloved Badhdad. Keep graciously taking credit for all you do, even if there isn’t any proof we all believe you!
Thanks to the representatives and senator gobi and TB. It’s only common sense, but apparently that had to be explained to the big wigs.
This is really great news! I am from Brookfield and all the towns in this area have a HUGE heroin problem that is just way to large for the town police can handle. I can not imagine what would have happened if the barracks closed.
Great News! Good job, Turtleboy.
