There are very few truly notable accomplishments in life. A few possibilities could be: Graduating, having your first child, a promotion at work, running a marathon, and of course, having your hometown being recognized on urbandictionary as a “ghetto resembling Detroit”.
Ironically, most of it’s citizens respond to this harsh appraisal of the “City of Champions” with a combination of pride and anger, while continuing to share stories about their own cars being stolen and experiences they’ve had with crime in their glorious town. All while littering the thread with misspelled second-grade words.
In fact, Brockton’s ghettofabulousness is so renowned, that two other Brockton terms have also made it onto urbandictionary.com – “Brockton Hot” and “Brockton Swap”.
Strangely enough, these citizens who vilify and laugh at their own hometown’s astronomical crime rate, are the same ones imploring Brockton citizens to vote to reject the casino proposal at the Brockton fairgrounds in fear of making the city worse. Brocktonians are voting on a binding referendum May 12th to determine if the city approves or rejects the proposal.
How do people really think the casino is going to make this town any worse?!?! It is already defined on urbandictionary as a place where “you will most likely be stabbed” for Christ sake! It’s being compared to Detroit! How much worse could this town possibly get!
Please vote yes on May 12 and let’s get a casino up in this dire hell-hole. Bring some jobs, revenue, and hope to this “ghetto resembling Detroit”.
