On any Internet comments section you’re gonna get trolls, often of the racist variety. I’d prefer living in a world where people like this didn’t exist, but free speech is gonna free speech. The best thing you can do to shitty speech is combat it with superior speech. We have no shortage of racist trolls (many of who are actually SJWs attempting to make us look bad), like the one guy who blames everything on the Jews. And you know what people to do them? They shit on them or ignore them. Because nothing they say is serious or really means anything at all. They’re not here for discourse, or to share controversial opinions. They’re just here for meaningless shock. It’s a biproduct of free speech but one that we have to accept. For that reason our comments section (as far as I know) will always remain completely open. If Uncle Turtleboy changes that it will severely change the way I look at the blog.

Luckily I don’t blog for a pussy like this.

Yea, you’re right, Barstool Sports is an empire of wealth. Awesome. Congrats. We’re all very impressed. As for me, I judge a website’s value on the content that lays within. And any platform that caves to SJW mobs, which is OBVIOUSLY what Barstool did here, is one that I have no interest in.

This is the post he cited as the reason he’s closing the comments section down.

Notice it was the most down voted comment on the blog, and how they put the most upvoted comments at the top. So most people probably didn’t even see this. Either way, the mere fact that it got downvoted so many times only goes to show that the majority of readers do not agree with this sort of language. It reaffirms that the comments section is NOT a cesspool. And it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if this was some Barstool hater who wanted to make them look bad.

And guess what? Mission accomplished. You let some meaningless troll completely change your business model instead of standing by your principles. But hey, he’s selling a lot of shitty, overpriced t-shirts, so we must wanna be him right?

I used to be a daily Barstool reader, then I got old enough to rent a car. The only reason I ever even consider going to their platform now is to click on their worst bloggers and go directly to the comments to watch them getting shit on. And Barstool has their comments section set up so that the most upvoted comments are at the top, and those are always the best. I cannot remember the last time I read a blog in which the comments section was not vastly superior to the actual content of the blog.

For that reason this might be the dumbest business decision of all time. No one, and I mean no one, will ever click on diversity dandy Liz Gonzalez’ blogs ever again. No point. The only reason anyone ever read one of her blogs was to see who could shit on her in the wittiest manner. Now what? We’re just supposed to read what this obnoxious millenial chick of zero significance has to say about sports? Pass.

The ironic part is that they’re doing this mainly because the SJW hypocrites at Deadspin bullied them into it. Deadspin is obsessed with Barstool, and never misses an opportunity to pearl clutch when a Barstool employee says something that they determine is racist/sexist/offensive/blah, blah, blah. Even though these are the Deadspin employees who making those claims.

Barstool prides itself on giving Deadspin the middle finger, but now they’re doing exactly what Deadspin basically bullied them into doing. It’s emasculating.

Don’t worry though, Deadspin won’t appreciate it or give them a pat on the back for their newfound wokeness. They’ll just bring up old things Barstool did that they don’t approve of, and then blame them for taking too long to get as woke as they are.

So yea, he basically made a business decision in order to try to impress people who hate him, not realizing that you never, ever, ever give into a SJW mob. Because no matter what you do, it will never be enough. They don’t want you to improve, they want you to be below them so they can continue to shit on you. Their scorn means nothing. Just embrace it.

WEEI, which just got smoked in the first ratings book now that they’ve dumped Kirk Minihane, seems to agree with Deadspin.

 Oh look, he impressed Alex Reimer. A guy who tried SO HARD to be Kirk Minihane when he called Tom Brady’s kid a pissant, and failed miserably. If your website makes a business decision that Alex Reimer approves then it’s probably a really bad idea.

Our critics try to do the same thing – pretend that our worst commenters are somehow a reflection of the blog itself. They actually send comments to advertisers when they try to “boycott” us. It’s laughable and we pay zero attention to it. So I guess in a way I’d like to thank Huffstool Sports for continuing their plunge into mainstream garbage, while pretending to be the bad boys of the Internet. The more they do this the more converts come to Turtleboy, since we’re seemingly the only blog left on the Internet that isn’t willing to get bullied into changing the way we do business in order to please terrible people like Alex Reimer and pretention hipster bloggers at Deadspin.
