Might have to get another headstone ready in the Turtleboy Sports graveyard:

The Bridgewater professor whose Facebook posts bashed “Anyone who voted for Donald Trump” has been placed on paid leave after receiving threats, university officials said. “For personal safety reasons, Dr. Nichols is on temporary leave,” Eva Gaffney, the Bridgewater State spokesperson, told The Enterprise Thursday. One of the students in his English class, Alyssa Hood, a junior at BSU, found Nichols to be “politically one-sided,” based on the assignments he gave students.

Hood looked at her professor’s Facebook page and what she saw “shocked and astonished” her, The Enterprise reported last week. There were anti-President Donald Trump posts. The two that caught her eye right away were from 2016, shortly after the election. The first post started by expressing sympathy for students who “break down crying because they were worried that the way they dressed that morning might end up getting them killed.” He then writes, “F — Donald Trump. F— ANYONE who voted for Donald Trump. F— ANYONE who tries to explain to me the ‘real’ needs of people who voted for Donald Trump.”

The second post of Nichols links an article with the headline, “The Ku Klux Klan says it will hold a Trump Victory Parade in North Carolina.” With the article, which was accompanied by a photo of a KKK march, Nichols posted, “Trump voters: you all belong in this parade.”

After seeing the posts and with her background, Hood said she felt if she ever expressed her political opinion her work may not be graded fairly. The incident was investigated by university police, who found no basis for taking any action against the professor, Gaffney said. In the past two weeks Nichols received multiple threats, Gaffney said. While Gaffney did not specify the context of the threats, she said they were “serious enough to have police investigate.” The threats do not appear to be made from people on campus, Gaffney said. Because of the threats Nichols is currently on a temporary paid leave, Gaffney said. His classes continue with substitute professors. Nichols has not responded to requests for an interview.

Gaffney said a formal complaint was never made with the school in regards to Nichols’ Facebook posts. However, students did reach out to university officials to express support for the professor, Gaffney said. There currently is no social media policy for the university’s professors.

Don’t. Poke. The. Turtle.

Hilarious how much the Brockton Enterprise goes out of their way not to mention that we’re the reason this is happening. No big deal, only a couple hundred thousand people read it and half of them emailed the school and it caused a shitstorm that they only accelerated with their failure to properly respond to it. Then again the Enterprise is owned by Gatehouse Media, and they’re specifically told NOT to legitimize the Turtle by mentioning us. Sad.

Anyway, this is obviously a step in the right direction, but the rationale the school is using for putting him on leave is bullshit. They’re doing it for his safety? Nah, you’re doing it because you look like morons. You’re doing it because we got ahold of a leaked email from President Fred Clark in which he calls this nudnik a “great teacher,” and vows to take no action against him. You’re doing it because your alumni all turned on you and you were flooded with emails. You’re doing it because your Facebook page was so bombarded by angry turtle riders that you had to shut the comments down on your announcement. You’re doing it because it turned into a bigger circus when your idiot students signed a petition demanding that Alyssa Hood apologize for making his public Facebook posts public. You’re doing this because you want this to go away and hope a three week paid leave will make us all forget about it.

Loved this part:

Gaffney said a formal complaint was never made with the school in regards to Nichols’ Facebook posts. However, students did reach out to university officials to express support for the professor, Gaffney said.

No formal complaints? What do you have to write it on school letterhead? You got five million emails reaming your ass out for keeping this ding-dong on staff. All this mother fucker had to do was just issue some sort of bullshit public apology. That’s it. Just write something down in which he says that he regrets the words he chose to use that night in anger, and that he treats all students with respect regardless of their political opinions.

But he didn’t even have that in him, because he’s an arrogant, self-centered, know it all, who thinks students like Alyssa Hood are beneath him. She would’ve gladly accepted his apology and moved on. Instead the adult in the room was nowhere to be seen as he cowered in his shell.

They did make sure to mention all the students who reached out to the university to express their support for this asshole. Yet none of them filed anything formal. They’re trying to pretend that no one is really angry about this except for some racists from out of state, so they’re protecting the professor from imaginary violence.

Will they fire him? Probably not. The school somehow has no social media policy for professors. How is that possible in 2017? Every high school in America has a social media policy for teachers and students. Why shouldn’t colleges? The fact of the matter is that when you write on social media, you’re still representing your employer. That’s why we can’t put him in the graveyard just yet. More than likely this is just a diversion tactic.

But it doesn’t really matter at this point. We already won. We made this guy shit his pants. We made him take his Facebook page down. He will never, ever, ever consider writing something like that on Facebook again. And when you get someone to conform their behavior to what you want it to be, you own them. That’s you professor Nichols – we own you now. Welcome to Hell.

This is NOT over, TB. This guy will double down on students who have differing opinion. Now that he has been shamed, he will be enraged and take it out on the Alyssa Hoods of the student body with a vengaece by ruining their lived with bad grades and evaluations.

You have an obligation to protect these students by exposing any poor treatment that they receive from this now butthurt, arrogant mushmind that thinks he is a superior intellect (funniest thought that I had all day). KEEP him in his place.

He’s on leave because of alleged threats. His job does not appear to be on the line. So, this is basically a paid vacation.

And I’m sure those threats are just people calling and emailing about this. But they say it’s threats because the left can’t deal with not having the moral high ground.

As an editor, I wouldn’t change a word of this blog entry. It is perfect and dead on accurate.

Bridgewater State may not have a social media policy for professors, but rest assured, they do have other conduct clauses in their contract which social media falls under.
