Tracy Lovvorn is a Republican running for Congress against current 10 term representative Jim McGovern. He’s hardly ever challenged and it would be extremely hard to defeat him. Of course it’s a lot easier if your opponent is banned from posting on Facebook groups in your district like Tracy was today…..
Yup. She’s not allowed to announce that she’s running for Congress in the little town of Mendon’s community bulletin board page. It’s a private group with only 700 members. And no, it’s not the admin making this decision, it’s clearly Facebook. I’m firmly of the belief that Facebook does this because it lacks human contact moderators, not because they’re politically biased. But has anyone ever heard of this happening to a democratic politician? If so we’d be interested in blogging about that too.
Jim McGovern of course has 10,000 followers on his Facebook page. More importantly Facebook gave him the vaunted blue checkmark to legitimize his page even more so.
Seriously this woman has the audacity to try to take the seat that an entrenched, privileged white male has held since 1997. She got all excited about getting on the ballot and started posting about it on her personal page:
She couldn’t wait to spread the word to the community she is attempting to represent in Washington. And for that she was banned by Facebook from doing so. Because Facebook obviously has an issue with strong, outspoken women, who have the audacity to seek out elected office in a male dominated profession. We have 9 representatives in Massachusetts:
Seven of the 9 are white men. This is what the party of diversity and progress looks like. Entrenched white men using a billion dollar corporation to silence women who have the nerve to try to take THEIR seat in Washington DC.
To make matters worse she’s also been banned from the political fundraising site Crowdpac, which is like GoFundMe for politicians. Their reasoning? She’s a Republican:
“As a result of that struggle, we’ve decided to align our platform with the values of our community and to take a stand against Trumpism. That means that we will be temporarily suspending any fundraising campaigns on our platform featuring Republican candidates as recipients until we can figure out how to systematically confirm that those campaigns and candidates align with the values of our community in a way that Trumpism does not. Because your campaign features a Republican candidate as a recipient, it will be suspended in 10 days time.”
Seriously? How afraid is the Internet of this woman? Trumpism? So every Republican is automatically “Trumpism” now? Because Republicans never disagree? The entire party is just banned? This is INSANE!!! Trump getting elected has only proven how intolerant these Nazis are.
We would be honored to have Tracy or someone from her campaign team on our podcast to discuss this further. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in using our platform to get your message out. We’re all in this together against this dysfunctional monopoly known as Facebook.
