So ever since this happened last week:
We’ve gotten a bunch of inquiries from the media, since it’s obviously outrageous that Facebook would take down a business page simply because their profile picture supported a murdered police officer. Our good friends over at Blue Lives Matter wrote about it last week. We’ve also been in contact with a few reporters from The Daily Caller, who has had their own issues with Facebook censorship. They’re planning on writing a story about it and because they’re such a large and established entity they were able to speak to someone directly from Facebook. Here’s the lies Facebook told the Daily Caller:
- They did not take the page down because of the profile picture. They took that page down, and the others, because of other unnamed content that was on the page. When asked to specify which content they did not have an answer.
Wait…..what? They’re actually saying this? It clearly says right on top, “This post goes against our community standards.” Not, “another post somewhere on the page.” This post. As in, the post they are showing us an image of. That post goes against their “community standards.” I suppose they constantly show us pictures of random things that don’t violate their standards when alerting us to the fact that we’ve been taken down for posting things that violate their standards. Like Happy New Years
The Christmas Tree
And our favorite Rockwell painting
All of these were presented to Facebook and the representative specifically stated that those images had NOTHING to do with why our page was taken down. It was random, unnamed other stuff. Perhaps it was this “celebrations of violence” on Christmas morning:
Or this “bullying of private individuals”
It’s hilarious that this is the stance they are taking.
- The Daily Caller also asked them about why the Turtleboy Sports United group was taken down by Facebook, despite the fact content because content we posted goes against their standards. Because the page was up for less than 24 hours and we hadn’t had a chance to post anything yet. Their reasoning? Based on our past history they were taking the post down because we were likely to post something that violated their community standards.
I shit you not. According to Facebook we are being unpublished because we MIGHT post something that Kevin Lynch and Didi Delgado will mass report for nudity. This is INSANE that this is their official stance. Instead of just looking at the ridiculousness of what has happened and pressing a button to restore our pages, they’re digging a much, much deeper whole for them to get out of. I don’t know why they’re doing this, but they’re going to look ridiculous if and when the Daily Caller writes about it, and they’re going to make this a hell of a lot easier in court.
