Feminists Saying Women’s Health Counselor Emily Letts Is A Hero For Filming Her Own Abortion And Putting It On Youtube

I’ve never blogged about abortion before, and probably never will after this. I even put a poll question that has absolutely nothing to do with this topic. But this story is just too fucked up not to talk about. Some idiot named Emily Letts thought it would be cool to tape her first abortion and put it on Youtube. If you don’t watch this I don’t blame you, but it’s not graphic or or anything like that. Oddly enough all we see is her face the entire time, which should tell you all you need to know about what she must really think of what’s happening to her.

Yup, so I don’t even know where to start with this lovely human being. This video actually WON a contest for the Abortion Care Network. Now I’m not here to debate the abortion issue. I’ve seen many a family dinner and friendship destroyed when this ticking time bomb of a subject enters the conversation. But I don’t care what side of the debate you’re on – this girl sucks.

Where do I start? How about the fact that the first thing she said afterwards was “Cool. I’m done, yay!!!”

You kids thought peeing your pants is the coolest? Think again. Taping your own abortion and putting it on Youtube is the COOLEST.

Then there was this comment from the post-game interview:

I feel in awe of the fact that I can make a baby. I can make a life.

So let me get this straight – you’re happy this happened because now you know that you CAN get pregnant, and then immediately end the pregnancy? That’s like me finding out that I CAN get lung cancer from smoking cigarettes, and then taping my chemotherapy and putting it on youtube. You can get pregnant? Yea, no shit sherlock. When you’re getting steamrolled by some idiot who doesn’t know your name, without using any of the widely available birth control devices from the place you work at, you CAN get pregnant.

Then there was this really, really smart thing to say:

I knew that what I was gonna do is right, because it was right for me, and no one else.

Ya see that comment right there? She just unintentionally showed us all EVERYTHING that’s wrong with society. Whatever’s right for you is all that’s important. Nothing else matters. Don’t wanna work? Fuck it, collect welfare instead. Sure you’re stealing from the taxpayers and you’re a low life, but it’s what’s right for YOU. Who cares what’s right for anyone else. Oh yea, and by the way Dad, if she didn’t go this route you’re definitely on the hook for child support, because after all, it’s about HER.

She did an interview with Cosmopolitan Magazine about the video. Her comments are in italics:

Becoming an abortion counselor was kind of unexpected. I was a professional actress for many years. I loved acting, but I felt fairly depressed most of the time.

A professional actress? LOL. Right. I thought I recognized Emily from my favorite home made abortion movies.

I found out I was pregnant in November. I had been working at the clinic for about a year. It was my first pregnancy, and, full disclosure, I hadn’t been using any kind of birth control, which is crazy, I know. I’m a sex educator, and I love talking about birth control.

So let me get this straight – women who come in for serious advice, about a very serious issue, talk to some dolt who hasn’t figured out how to use birth control? Yea, that makes sense. This sounds like a driver’s ed class taught by Ted Kennedy.

So I tracked my ovulation cycle, and I didn’t have any long-term partners. I thought I was OK. But, you know, things happen. I wound up pregnant.

Right. Because the only way you can get pregnant is with a long term boyfriend. Good thing HER JOB is to give advice to women about sexual health issues. She’s obviously very qualified. This is like getting advice on fitness from some fat bastard at Wendy’s.

I knew I wasn’t ready to take care of a child. The guy wasn’t involved in my decision. I called my supervisor and said, “Excuse me, I am going to need to schedule one abortion, please.”

Would you like fries with that?

Still, every time I watch the video, I love it.

Yea, I mean, what’s not to love right?

‘I know that sounds weird, but to me, this was as birth-like as it could be. It will always be a special memory for me. I still have my sonogram, and if my apartment were to catch fire, it would be the first thing I’d grab.”

It was so birth like? Yea abortion and giving birth are the exact same fucking thing Ace. And why exactly is she holding onto the sonogram again? Is she planning on showing her kids someday what her brother or sister looked like before she made this amazing youtube video?

So yea, I have no desire to debate any of you on the abortion issue. It’s a touchy subject and we all have our own thoughts on it. I’ve never seen someone convinced to go to the other side in all my years. However, I will say this – this idiot and people like her continue to make a mockery out of feminism. I consider myself a REAL feminist. I respect women, and believe they should be equal with men politically, socially and economically.

But newsflash – taping your own abortion doesn’t make you a feminist. It makes you a fucking idiot. This is why people find it so hard to take feminists seriously. Because the nutjobs have hijacked what used to be an important and purposeful movement. You have the PSYCHOPATHS at Jezebel.com writing shit like this:

This woman is radical: No, I didn’t use contraception. No, I wasn’t ignorant — I’m a sex educator. I wasn’t raped; the sex was consensual. I didn’t tell the “father.” I’ve never been pregnant before — I’m not reserving my resources for existing children. It was positive for me because I made the choice that worked for me and I got the chance to observe my body’s ability to create life.

I’m sorry, but that is fucking awesome.

Yea dude, fucking awesome!! I love when people who are PAID to be role models and counselors on responsible sexual behavior end up doing EXACTLY what they tell people NOT to do, they go down and ask for “one abortion please.” I’d definitely want my teenage daughter counseled by this fine and upstanding individual.

What really makes these people complete dingleberries is that there are real women out there who are REAL feminists, standing up for REAL women’s issues, and they’re ignored by “feminists.” We wrote about Brandeis disinviting Hirsi Ali as their graduation speaker. Even though the woman was forced to undergo genital mutilation, honor beatings, an arranged marriage with a stranger, and the murder of her friend accompanied with a fatwah against her for being a Muslim woman with an opinion, she was disinvited because she is “Islamophobic.” A bunch of mostly male Muslim students at Brandeis made a big stink about her and she was banned.

And where were the feminists to protest this? Oh yea, they were in the comment section of Jezebel supporting this really, really responsible 25 year old while she tapes her first of many abortions to come for being “brave.”

The real story of bravery is of the woman who does everything she can do to prepare for a baby she’s going to give birth to with or without help from the father or anyone else. People have done harder things!!!

Too bad her mother didn’t find her as inconvenient as she found her child.
