Four high ranking Massachusetts State Police higher ups have retired in disgrace after we exposed shady coverups they were involved in. Former pot dealer Leigha Genduso is suspended without pay, and she’ll likely be back working at Centerfolds soon as well. But one person who has escaped completely unscathed is former Colonel Marian McGovern, who Leah Genduso credited with being her “mentor” during the academy.

Remember, when Marian McGovern retired in 2012 she accepted a full pension that exempted her from paying federal income taxes because of an alleged disability (a heart condition). This was estimated to save her around $25,000 a year in federal income taxes.

Her pension was approved by a special two member board, both of whom were government hacks on the taxpayer dime:

“McGovern’s disability pension was approved by a special three-member board, which reviews only state police disability applications. All other disability applications across the state are handled by a panel of three independent doctors, but state law requires that State Police disabilities be reviewed by the state commissioner of public health, state surgeon, and State Police superintendent, or their designees.”

So here’s my question? Why is she doing Crossfit style workouts if she has a heart condition?

Kelly’s bootcamp for women isn’t something you should be participating in if you “require lifelong medication and management” for your “heart condition.” Kelly don’t play:

And just for the record, it’s not recommended that people with serious heart conditions like this participate in CrossFit style exercise programs:

These people make me sick. They use their connections and power to suck off the taxpayers for an eternity. This woman owns more than one home. She’s probably worth a shitload of money and was set to collect a fat pension for the rest of her life. But it wasn’t enough. She just had to use her “heart condition” to avoid paying federal income taxes like the rest of us have to. And that HACK David Procopio, who is nothing more than the mouthpiece for an utterly corrupt organization, has the nerve to tell us that she’ll require “lifelong management” for her heart condition. I guess strenuous exercise programs for a post-menopausal woman is part of that lifelong management.

Colonel McGovern sat on her own 2 member board, because she was part of that process before she retired. Yet she denied a female state trooper in 2009, when she sat on the Merit rating Board, of a 72 % disability with 15 doctors saying it was job related. 6 years worth of medical treatments paid for by the MSP. MSP only pays medical bills when it is a job related injury.

Even the SBOR’s (State Board of Retirement) 3 independent medical doctor’s stated the Trooper’s injury was not only permanent, but went as far to say it was related to the job injury and treatment for over 6 years. This case has dragged in Superior court for the last 6 year’s. Talk about ARBITRARY AND CAPRICIOUS!!!!!!! Where is the consistency??

    Outraged and Fed up!!!

Keep her pension. She did work for it. But she should be paying federal taxes just like every other retired American with a heart condition. Same thing goes for politicians who seem to get free healthcare and tax breaks left and right. As for the Leigha case, Marion can’t be punished for that now….She’s retired. But retired with DIGNITY? Not so much now that it’s exposed that she gave Genduso a pass.

This lady has more guts than you know . Her days working the combat zone busting the gutter slugs of society . She made it to the top by hard work and true grit . She has my respect . Most people with heart issues are encouraged to exercise . Not sit around . Can we for once read a nice human interest story ? How about a turtleboy Christmas toy drive to benigit a great local charity like The Planting the seed Foundation . Enough negativity .

Cue the violins…give me a break, dude! You go out on a medical disability, you’re not supposed to be auditioning for the next season of American Gladiators! Just another textbook example of juiced in state hacks raping the taxpayers and giving them the middle finger while they’re doing it.

Hopefully in the middle of some squat session, she ACTUALLY has a heart attack and her payouts are short lived.

Who is more despicable? The Lawrence ratchet who steals 410 in EBT a month or the retired Colonel who takes 150k tax free every year? Yet we will build the wall!!??

      The level of arrogance and entitlement in the Mass State Police is staggering. They;
lie: Genduso applying to MSP, McGovern…
steal: Overtime theft, stolen guns from armory…
      DUI’s: multiple troopers….
cover up: MSP brass in whitewash of Ali Bibaud case…
…and still receive their fat funded pensions, THEN hop over to another law enforcement position or a cushy position in the private sector with no consequences. When have any of them been successfully fired or, God forbid, prosecuted?? They have effectively gamed the system, we’re all paying for it and they are laughing…all the way to the bank.

Yeah because a wall with Mexico will definitely be as much the responsibility of MA as Marion’s pension. If Billy Bulger is a benchmark, she has another 30 years in her.

She is entitled to her pension, the argument would be whether it should be “tax free”. So your argument is non-existent.

Fact is, there isn’t just one Lawrence ratchet and she certainly is not only stealing “410 in EBT a month”. If she is getting EBT she is getting so much more.

But you typed it to suit your argument. You’re just mad that Marian isn’t paying the Lawrence ratchet that you are because she is not paying taxes. And frankly, Marian is paying her own salary from all the years of paying taxes herself. That’s how it works right?  If YOU pay a cops salary, who does the cops taxes pay for?

This site has gotten old and the commenters as bad as the bloggers.

TB had a chance but their constant need for recognition and validation (even though we do not know who they are) has watered down their content.

If you have a problem with the story, don’t blame the messenger. Blame the people it’s about. If she’s collecting a tax free disability pension due to a heart condition and participating in strenuous physical programs she’s either stupid or not as disabled as she claimed; I can honestly say people are often coached before attending disability evaluation exams to answer questions with regard to their symptoms on their worst day vs. a good or average day. Doctors can only document test results and what the patient tells them, and unfortunately some outright lie to game the system. Perhaps a re-examination of the Colonel’s “heart condition” might be in order. By different doctors this time. The VA can demand one for up to ten years after they rate someone because sometimes things change – even permanent disabilities; the state should be able to as well.

All teachers ever really had to do was tell their students to find a public sector job with a pension and union. Instead they always played this game like all civil servants were underpaid. It’s almost like they were trying to protect their secret.

Gotta love the bootcamp tag on the photo “All ages, sizes, and fitness levels welcome”. Basically saying “if these old fat hags can work out so can you”.

One step away from “coloreds welcome”. Of course, watching the video, I didn’t see any coloreds.

HTF did McGovern get through MSP camp? Jesus, that is years of self abuse. Guaranteed she never pursued on foot.

She received $164,351 for 2017. No federal tax, no state tax if she lives in Mass. Also, Colonel Thomas Foley received the same deal as her, because of a heart issue. He retired at age 50, in 2017 received $114,980. He was good to go, when he ran for Sheriff in 2010. He’s still employed to this day in the private sector. This is why Mass. is the object of ridicule nationwide & keep paying your taxes to support the hacks.

Keep on exposing these pukes. Keep piling on and don’t stop. This entire saga sickens me. NO TAXES on a state pension?!?!?! She continued doing her job even after her diagnosis in 2009, but now she can’t pay taxes in retirement? This absolutely sickens me. It’s entitled sows like this that make the public hate cops and make us all look like crooks.

TB if you can can roast this hog on a spit I’ll light the first match.

There is no ‘reaching’ or ‘grasping at straws’ when it comes to officials who who judge and hold the fate of citizens in their dirty hands.

The Linkedin story about the Chelsea police chief was definitely grasping at straws, but this one is significant. Following one trail of crumbs often leads to others.
If you or I put a claim in against our own employer-based private disability policies, the insurance company would have investigators making periodic stops at our houses to sit in their cars and try to get photos of us mowing our lawns or climbing a ladder to clean the gutters.
Here we have a public disability scheme that we the taxpayers underwrite, and what Turtleboy has done here is classic accountability journalism.

It’s the same Bs that says Leigha G will “get a pension”. She will have to be evaluated by multiple doctors. It won’t happen. Plus, Leigha admitted to depression etc PRIOR to the job. It’s not that easy to just pension off. Get a grip MF’rs.

Turtleboy appears to be shooting fish in a barrel, one after the other, on matters that are case-in-point government accountability issues that the esteemed, professional journalists at the Boston Globe, et al, are supposed to be dealing with.
    And they dismiss this platform.
It’s going to put them out of business, and rather soon.

I think you are starting to reach at this point and taking away from the great work you have done.

Im sure excercise is allowed and save the “disclaimer”.  There is a disclaimer on everything. So, if she sat in a hot tub, would that be an issue because the disclaimer says “if you have a heart condition…..”.

I’m not defending her, I am pointing out how obvious it is that you’re piling on and taking away from great work already done. She is an old hag, trying to excercise. She is hardly pulling off a legit CrossFit workout. Just getting some scissoring in with her pals.

Lastly, save the “I pay her salary” crap. You know who says that all the time?  The same losers you write about. Our taxes would be no less without any of this crap.

The same troopers that get in bed with you will be the same troopers burned by you. When will they learn?  ALL media are the enemy.

      I call bullshit
      February 24, 2018 at 10:44 pm

How is anything about Marian McGovern’s case “reaching”? It’s tax fraud, enabled by corrupt bureaucrats, pure and simple. A three person panel, the commissioner of public health, state surgeon, and MSP Superintendent decide disability cases. McGovern was the MSP Superintendent deciding her own disability case, so she had to abstain. She was approved 2-0. The woman is healthy enough to do exercise classes but she’s not healthy enough to sit behind a desk? Give me a break. I was diagnosed with heart disease too, at age 47. I’m nearly 60 and still working. I wish I could retire with my full salary and not have to pay taxes on it. It’s one thing to feed at the trough, it’s another to lick the plate. Anyone who doesn’t see the gross inequity, unfairness, and outright fraud in this system is delusional. And yeah, we are all paying more for state government services because of fraud like this.
