When I left my teaching job to turn Turtleboy into a business I figured I could make ends meet by getting local businesses to advertise on my blog. And I was right, because within a couple months I had about 20, many of which I stole from Worcester Magazine or the Turtlegram and Gazette. It was an easy sell really – we can offer you more views, more clicks, and more customers, for a fraction of whatever those crooks are charging you. They have ginormous operating costs, and dwindling subscribers so they have to charge more for that reason. We don’t have those problems.
However, I quickly realized that our advertisers would have to deal with something that Worcester Magazine and the Turtlegram never would – “boycotters.” At least they call themselves boycotters. They really just harass legitimate businesses for engaging in business deals that benefit their business, simply because the people doing the harassing want to silence us.
Some businesses threw their hands up in the air and said, “I wanna support Turtleboy, and I’m getting a lot of referrals from you, but they’re a pest that won’t go away.” Others handled like Bennie’s Cafe, handled it like a boss when they wrote this epic response to Joyce McNickles, the vapid racist woman who was leading the harassment campaign. The next day there was a line out the door at Bennie’s.
Then they kicked it up a notch in July of 2017 when they started this “Turtleboycott” page, which is really one of the most sad and pathetic pages you will ever see. They started a Change.org petition, signed by some of the biggest losers you will ever see, and includes many ratchets we’ve blogged about. They tag our partners on Twitter, and include screenshots of racist comments that they write, in an attempt to make us look bad.

Their website gives specific instructions about who to call, how to use *67 to block your number (because they’re cowards), and a script of what to say. They thought they were winning because our contracts with some advertisers were ending and we didn’t renew them. Of course we did this because it was easier and less time consuming to rely on ad networks instead, since ad networks just act as a middle man between publishers and big businesses looking to get a certain amount of impressions on a number of websites.
Anyway, we’ve been blacklisted by Google AdSense so we make about 10% of what we used to from the ad networks. You’ll also notice that we’ve got no more local brick and mortar shops because we stopped pursuing them. Most businesses would collapse if they lost 90% of their income, but in the last 6 months we have survived because people buy stuff in the Turtleboy store, they purchased “I Am Turtleboy, and/or they donate. TBS has turned into PBS. We could not have done this without your support, because sadly this is just the world that we live in now. People will do anything to silence speech they don’t agree with.
However, Garage Doors Plus in Quincy sponsors our podcast and the Live show. And lately they’ve been getting harassed by anonymous cowards as well. But our friend Chris who owns GD+ has too much Irish in him to take their shit lying down, and he’s not backing down. Today he got and email from firstname.lastname@example.org, an account started by this guy
and/or this guy.
Their names are Marc Provencher, a local communist from Worcester, and Andrew Cronauer, a white supremacist from Dudley. They run the Turtleboycott page and have been responsible for much of this harassment of legitimate businesses. You should definitely NOT email them back with your thoughts at email@example.com, or try to contact them on Facebook. Here’s what they’ve been up to.
They got a call from a Houston area code number a few weeks ago too, so he texted them back and got this reply.
LOL. First of all, you were never going to use Garage Doors Plus in Quincy, because that would mean you, 1) have a job, 2) have a home, and 3) have a car. Everyone who hates us is poor, ugly, and unemployed, because our blog exposes people like them. And if you really did need an electric garage door system installed then you’d be very stupid not to hire them. They have the best prices around and they’ll come over and install it all in one day. Have fun paying more for your non-existent garage though bro.
Anyway, we’re really loyal to our advertisers like Garage Doors Plus in Quincy because they’re loyal to us. Every time they get harassed we will publish a blog reminding people to hire them for their garage door needs. That’s the kind of personal touch you get with Turtleboy that you don’t get from other publishers.
On that note, if you own a business we’d love to help you get more business. It takes a certain kind of business owner to advertise with us though. You have to be able to remind yourself that these people sending you anonymous emails are not customers. They have no money to spend, and they’re just trying to make you think that most people hate Turtleboy, when in fact most people love Turtleboy. For every boycotter who sends you a meaningless email we will send a new customer your way, because turtle riders are very loyal people like that. They know what we’re up against and they go out of their way to support our advertisers.
If you’re interested in partnering with us email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help. Please consider donating by hitting the PayPal button above if you’d like support free speech and what we do in the face of Silicon Valley censorship.
